Don't know what color your putter is but when I was experimenting with no sightline I just got some silver nail polish which closely matched the stainless head.  It didn't completely hide the line, but it did reduce its visibility.  The CVS was probably wondering why a man was in the nail polish aisle with a putter.  🙂

Two issues I can foresee with trying to use a sharpie. 1) I'm not sure how well it would actually cover up the sight line. It might end up just being a dulled down white. 2) I don't know how easily you could get rid of the sharpie marks later on.

I think the easiest thing would be to just put a layer of paint over it to match the head. It's super easy to fill in a sight line and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes (plus drying time).

Again, concern comes down to removal. I would require acetone to remove which would also take off the original line. Additionally it's a Versa putter which I believe is painted so acetone would could also affect the finish of the putter.

I was looking at the rules, and I think you could still use black tape to cover the line (maybe not electrical tape, since it would probably fall off too easily).

Otherwise, there is nothing that is truly "reversible".  But considering the existing sight line is filled with white paint, why not fill with a thin layer of black paint?  If you're unhappy and want the sight line back, paint over with white paint again.

In any case, this is one of the paragraphs regarding external attachments that might be allowed:

Attachments to the clubhead (other than the face), such as protective coverings, decorative items or alignment aids, provided the item is semipermanent. However, such items must not excessively protrude from the clubhead and must conform to the shape of the clubhead. Also, for driving clubs, such attachments must not serve to cause any confusion with the correct identification of a club on the List of Conforming Driver Heads. Such attachments should, therefore, be subtle, plain in appearance and discreetly positioned. Permanent additions to a clubhead would be considered part of the head and, therefore, the head, in its modified state, would have to conform to Part 2, Section 4 of the Equipment Rules (i.e. for dimensions and “plain in shape”).

To my mind, this would allow you to put any type of sticker or tape on the top of the clubhead, whether it's for decorative or alignment purposes.  And especially since you're using it to cover up an alignment aid, no one can claim that you're using it to improve the performance of the club in any way.

If Phil can do this you should be fine.

You remove sharpie with alcohol which will not remove the painted sight line.

There are specific rulings saying tape is not allowed as it is not considered semi permanent. If you Google it they will pop up, can't link them. There is an exception built into the rules for lead tape.

Sounds like I'll just have to hope alcohol takes everything off cleanly.

Dip a q-tip in acetone and it will take the sharpie off very easily. Won’t take the paint underneath unless you really rub the acetone in or let it sit.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
