Does srixon come a little longer than other brands?

I've heard several people say this and was thinking about getting a set of the zx7.

There is a thread “How does OEMs measure clubs” that has a ton of information.  Sorry, have no idea how to link the thread using my phone.

Which thread?

I think that it is in the Clubmaking Forum.

I found the thread and didn't see anything on Srixon.

I play all my clubs .5 in long, and I have Cleveland wedges, which should be measured the same way as Srixon irons. My Cleveland 52 is shorter than my titliest mb pitching wedge by the appropriate amount. I have a set of taylormade mbs and the pitching wedge is the exact same length as my cleveland 52. I believe that this is due to how the clubs are measured, and not the specs that are stated. Basically all irons I've ordered from titleist and srixon/cleveland are about .25 in longer than irons I have bought from taylormade and callaway, when the stated specs are the same. That's just my personal experience I hope it helps.

Yes personal experience .25 longer as well

I ordered cobra irons one time .25 under and I remember how much I hated it.

I went to a local golf shop and asked if they could measure a zx7 7 iron with a standard length shaft and asked if they could measure the zx5 driver with a standard length shaft.

According to srixon's website the 7 iron is 37 and the driver is 45.25.

The shop measured the 7 iron at 37.50 and the driver at 46.

I always felt srixon's clubs seemed longer than others.

Each manufacturer has different methods of measuring their clubs, there is no standard. I have found TM measure 1/4" shorter than Srixon.

That sounds about right.  If you were to have requested - 1/4 instead, the finished length would still be a tick longer than Callaway/Cobra/TM

Far better to be quarter inch too long than too short as there is no downside to standing a little taller with irons and of course you can always grip down giving you greater control.

On the flip side, leaning too far forward can get you stuck.

Just had my Srixons reshafted. fitter came back and told me that the previous shafts are .25 long. I thought that interesting.

Great conversation here. I bought standard length zx5 irons when they came out. I then purchased some zx7 irons that I took to a club builder to reshaft them. I told him I wanted them to be standard length. I picked them up and took them home. Sold the zx5 irons and compared the length for some reason and found the ones that were built to be 1/2” shorter than standard length zx5 from the factory. I called the builder and asked about it. He told me he built it to a standard 37” 7 iron which is accurate. He measures to the bottom of the sole as opposed to how Srixon measures.

I just got standard length Mizuno JPX923 Forged and they are a 1/2” longer than my current zx7 and have zero consistency with them. I just ordered a zx5 5-iron 1/2” short and it’s identical to my built zx7 irons. I just ordered a set of the MKii zx7 irons 1/2” short so hopefully they are what I’m used to and looking for b

Yes, just received standard ZX5 irons and they were 1/2" too long for most of them. They were exactly 1/2" longer than my existing Mizunos. Took the irons to a couple golf shops to have them officially measured, and they were indeed off. Srixon got the clubs back for repair order and they said it was standard for them. They must measure differently than others.

Something to be aware of!

So I got a set of used ZX5’s on 2ndswing, and thought they felt long. Went back and looked at the listing and it said the 5i was measured at 38.5, .5” longer than spec.

I brought them home and they measured 38 at playing position, and all irons matched my T100’s, which are on spec.

So even though they appear to be standard from what I can tell, they still feel a little longer than the T100’s, but maybe that is just the V sole.
