Greens aren’t impossible to putt. That’s almost impossible to do if you tried

Nice start for Rose. Ballstriking looked solid, but a couple of sloppy 3 putts and a few burned edged kept her from going low. Nice way to finish, though.

What happened to Lilia Vu? She was paired with Lydia and Minjee and then suddenly I don't see her name on the leaderboard. I put down $10 on her for 18:1 odds.

Gina Kim Annie and Yealimi are headed to Fort Lee and drinking soju til 3am after today's round at least finally Jennifer Chang may be turning her season around 

 

Nobody talking about Lauren Hartlage another young American player showing her top 10 at Lotte is no fluke! She's on the Solheim watch. 

 

I hope Rose wins one of her 8 starts to make that team as well, she is needed.

I wondered what the GC would do with Jess and Nelly both out injured, DK in a slump, and Lexi on an "Inbee trial reduced schedule". Without Rose, all the weight would be placed on Brooke Henderson.

Meanwhile, Jeeno is only a few months older than Zhang and has been playing and winning for a living for three years already. Today's TV coverage seemed all Rose Zhang.

Odds market is a bit lopsided this week with Jin and Atthaya about 9-1 and next Lyds is double that . Surely those 2 are not that far ahead of the rest ?

Saw on her Instagram she flew her coach over from Korea and subsequently striped it but I guess they forgot to practise putting 

 

A lot of her wins start out like this is the hope I can clinging to 😞

She withdrew before the start of the round. No reason was given to the groups walking scorer. It was news to everyone but scoring.

Decision was made quick enough that the alternate was able to play.

 

Friday update: "official" word is w/d due to illness.  No more detail or information has been given.

Maybe a bit too close. Camera was often within 2to3ft of her.

Sort of hard to walk when camera is blocking your view and yr feet!

 

It never seemed to bother Rose and she seemed to handle it and on course interviews w aplomb.

When we finished, she was tied for 5th at -2 despite an up and down round.

Watched her play for a few holes inc 2 back to back driver distance measuring holes. She did well where many others had problems.

 

Kept passing her mom most of the afternoon. Then finally met and talked abit, nice lady.

Decent length (279yd long & 258 shortest drive), vg/ex ball striking and good touch putting.

 

Would've scored way better but burned a ton of edges.

 

Probably, could do more to save par and avoid some bogeys, couldn't we all!

 

There were plenty of highlights and hope for a bright start of a career.

Where are the 279 and 258 from (two drives somewhere in the round)?  LPGA website has her at 263 for the day (two measured holes).  On the highlights, she had three drivers with ball speeds of 140, 143, 143 and carry distance of 226, 231, 235.  Can't tell the wind or elevation change on these holes (edit:  or how hard/easy she swung on these tee shots), but these seem in the ballpark for a mid 90s clubhead speed.  I.e. not super long but plenty competitive (obviously there is more to golf than hitting it far).

 

Does seem like a bit more zip than a couple of years ago in the am (probably stronger now).  Not sure if anyone has consistent chs/carry figures from her last year at Stanford.

The 2 driving holes are basically flat except for a few bumps. 1hole was into a ½⁹headwind. Other hole had a crosswind from the bay.

Rose was in a bunker on 1measured hole.

Every hole has a shot tracer and other measurement devices hidden behind the tee box.

 

When player is done at the end of the round, in the scoring room, besides checking all scoring, on the screen is each players data summary.

2 of the data points shown include esch players shortest and longest drive. It doesnt say which hole.

When greens are lumpy, stimp close to 12 and many are exposed to wind effects, then its easy.

On a few holes yes but most no.

 

It doesnt matter as ajga jrs are only scoring vs other ajga jrs via stableford scoring.
