We need a close up especially those Bettinardi Hive putters.

But the good thing about putters is they can be sold and life goes on after that, enjoy them now.

Also find something your wife hoards and point it out to her lol.

Plumber's Necks galore......I mean, serious question, but what inspires the purchase of so many nearly identical putters?

When you're about to buy one of those, doesn't it strike you that you already have a similar model at home? Like, what's the incentive to purchase another Newport?

I have a similar collection of guitars but they're not all the same guitar. The point of a collection is to have diversity. Some might be similar but the pickups are different and they fit different styles. Can you say that about a collection of Ansers?

The great thing about collecting is that you can collect whatever YOU want. To each his own.

Great collection OP! 👍

So what's the difference between collecting and hoarding?

I would say a collection of duplicates is more like hoarding, no? And that's especially true if these are literally living in a closet collecting dust.

I'm not criticizing the OP but if I were him I'd figure out what I wanted to keep and sell the rest pronto. What's the point of having several grand sitting in a closet? Isn't that the definition of hoarding?

I've owned a lot of guitars but I don't want them all back just so I can stick them in a closet. In this case, the wife's right (which the OP alluded to).

This is just unnecessarily insulting, its way more than that.  lol

I don't know if its hoarding or collecting, I've never really considered it.   My wife and kids all play golf to one degree of another, its our family time, so I'm fortunate to be able to play at least 36 holes a week sometimes more.  Because of that at one time or another I've gamed all of these.  Some were just a couple of rounds others like the T22 fastback I used for a longer period of time.  I seldom go back to one after I quit using it so I would agree that leaving them in the closet collecting dust is a waste.    Honestly I'd say its more apathy than collecting or hoarding, meaning I intend to sell most of them just never get around to it.   The reason I have them all out now is because I plan to sell some of them.

As far as them all being the same.  Lumping all plumbers neck putters into one bucket is short sided in my opinion.  To me they all "feel" or swing a little different.  I have no doubt that I would I be a better putter if I would stick with one but I enjoy trying new putters.  I make my kids stick with one because they play tournaments so it means something.  My rounds are all for fun and a little money with friends to keep things interesting so I don't mind missing a putt here or there.

I went through a putter phase where I was buying up any bargain putter I saw (got up to around 25 putters of various styles and shapes.  What it did for me was to help me to find that absolute best type of putter that works for me.  Now, I am down to 2.  My goal is to only work with those two and try to become so familiar with them that it feels like they are one with my body.

My putting has improved noticeably since I did that.

My 2 putters are:

Titleist Bullseye Wide Flange (with the 2 sound slots)  probably 1970's era

Ray Cook Classic Plus #1 -probably 1980's-90's era.

I found (through my putter acquisition phase, that these 2 are the ones I feel the most confident with, and which seem to "fit" me.  And I know if I grab either one of those that I will have a good day on the green.

But....yeah.....putter envy does get me at times.  It's a real battle.  I love putters.  Yours look amazing......it would be fun to roll those and see the personality of each one.  A putter speaks.....it's fun to hear what it's trying to say to us.

I find my putting is much better when I use the same putter throughout the entire season. I own many putters, but I only use 1 as my gamer for the year.

That moment you pull all your putters out of the closet for the first time in a while and realize, maybe your wife has a point.  Lol

I need to do a purge but its tough deciding which putters can go.
