Electric carts with follow-me mode?

Keep MGI Zip Navigator AI GPS+ or return and upgrade to a Stewart Q Follow? Wanted follow mode.

Man, I just bought the MGI Zip Navigator AI GPS+ thinking it had a follow-me mode, but it DOES NOT! I actually really like it otherwise.

What do people out there think about the electric carts that have a follow feature like the Stewart Q? I don't think it's worth almost $1,000 more? Just debating it because they might accept a return.

I've had the Stewart X9 for many years. There are many 18 hole rounds where I literally never even touch the cart.  And don't even touch a button on the remote. It just follows me everywhere.  It's never tipped over. Never had a battery problem. I had one problem with the remote after about a year and Stewart replaced it in a few days. It's worth every single penny I spent on it.  I'd replace the X9 with a Q if it ever dies.

I walk with a guy that has a remote cart with no follow.  I see him fiddle with the remote all the time, start, stop, turn, etc.  With the follow, you walk it follows, you turn it turns, you stop it stops.  It's a no brainer.  I even walk across narrow bridges without a problem.  I play 4 days a week with my X9.

Have the Q with the follow mode....fantastic!

Would not have one without.

If the Q is within your means, go get it. Otherwise, the Navigator At is as solid as they come. It has the gyro which eliminates the need for constant manipulation and following a few feet behind your trolley isn't hard to get used to.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

How does it not follow you onto the green if you never have to touch anything? Curious about the follow feature…currently have the MGI Quad Navigator.

Didn't say I didn't touch anything.

Standing near the cart,  Press the follow button on the remote. Place the remote on your belt. Walk away, the cart follows. When you stop the cart pulls up about 3 feet behind you and stops. Take the remote and place it anywhere on the cart or your bag. The cart won't move. Take your club, hit your shot, put club back. Pickup remote and put it on your belt, walk away, cart follows. Repeat!! Never a need to touch the cart or any buttons after the initial follow button is pushed unless you wish the use the remote feature instead of the follow which is an option you always have.

It's great having nothing in your hands as you walk the course. The cart just follows you everywhere.

Thank you for the explanation…..you had said you never need to touch a button so without knowing exactly how it works that confused me.

The Stewart is BlueTooth.  360 degrees.  The cart will literally turn on a dime and follow you if you turn away and walk behind it. Some follow carts are radio frequency and unidirectional which means it will only follow you if you start in front of the cart.  Any fast turns and the cart can lose contact and stop on you.  The only time the Stewart stops is if it hits a sharp bump and it jolts the on/off switch enough that it loses the BT. It happens about once every 10 rounds for me. I just got the follow button again and everything is good.

I ended up deciding to just keep the AI GPS Navigator.

We have a long, hot summer here so at least 1/3rd of the time I want to be under my umbrella, which is easy with the Navigator if you start it by hitting the button on the handle (let's you turn easily, etc.).

I also like all the accessories with the Navigator. The GPS is a nice backup, too (even though most people use phone, Arccos, etc.).

I'm thinking I'll use this for ~5 years and upgrade to a follow cart then (probably a lot more options by then).

I watched a guy yesterday with an umbrella on his cart who was using the alphard v-wheels.  He was sending it on up ahead, so the clubs were getting the sun protection much more than he was.  I found it rather amusing.

I had to use a pvc pipe extension on my umbrella holder. I'm 6'3" and couldn't stand/walk under it without the extension.

I ended uo getting the Motocaddy remote M7.  The follow feature isn't great for our course because of curbs, but I could see how it would be awesome on some layouts.  Just not ours.

Also the Navigator is a good choice bc of the gyroscope for straight tracking.

That said, very happy with the motocaddy

The motocaddy m7 remote looks great, too!

I think the motocaddy gps screen is nicer than the MGI, but the nice thing is that the MGI doesn't require a subscription cost. Not sure what you get vs don't get if you don't continue the "performance subscription plan".

does m7 have follow me mode? I don't see it advertised as one.

I think he meant that follow mode wouldn’t be good at his course. Not that the m7 has follow mode. It doesn’t.
