T150 vs i230

Getting fitted tomorrow. I230’s in the bag now. I love them but purchased without being fit. So either dialing them in, which is option 1, but will test out others.

Gaming i230 and having a set of 150's built as we speak - feel and turf interaction is where I think biggest plus will be for me

will report

Ended up staying with i230’s albeit with a shaft change. I was never fitted for the i230’s properly. The new 150’s spun too much. Also hit: Mizuno 225,223. Zx7. Cobra. Paradym.

I have i230s and there's two reasons in considering T150s

1. I want a lower cg. If you believe Maltby, then general generally speaking ping have pretty high center of gravity.

2. I want a thinner sole. I'm working on getting more shallow and having a thinner sole will be a bit better.

Other notables - cool clubs tests all irons with a robot and the i230 faired decently but the t150 was a bit better, specifically on dispersion.

I might end up buying blind, we'll see.

What's your speed or yardage with i230s? Did cool clubs use similar shafts in each club? I've hit a club ( i230) with as good front to back or left to right dispersion as the i230s with $taper lite shafts ...

Not saying 150s aren't solid and I'm sure they are , it's just the i230s are so stinkin consistent in distance even on misses .....they play so much bigger than their size. Just one players opinion.

Thought the topic could use this info:  Mike from TXG answered some questions today 8/20 on his instagram stories and one question was whether T150 or i230 was more forgiving.

Granted, forgiveness can have several definitions, but he said T150 was more forgiving, with an added bonus that they have more power too.

Different strokes for different folks.  I’ve hit both and have to disagree with that mightly.

The i230 is more forgiving if you value front to back and left to right dispersion.  If you power spec the i230 and get the lofts in line with the t150 ball speed is a wash.

the t150 may be more workable and offer more control over flight.

185-190 6i.

They test at 80 and 90mph and I think they use KBS tour shafts for every club if I remember correctly (this is robot testing, I can't imagine they'd switch shafts around).

They are certainly forgiving but that's not really what I'm worried about these days.

No, I get that ......I loved my T100 irons from last year but I'm slower than you and needed more HELP in the long irons without a combo look ....223s were close but these i230s are amazing!! I'm in Florida off tight Bermuda and have zero issues with sole getting in and out of turf ....I'm definitely a sweeper btw

But keep us posted on your findings

Oh no. I just cold bought i230 thinking I’d get higher launch and spin than my T100S. What was difference in spin numbers? Or the actual numbers?

Pings were around 6800-7100.

T150’s around 8000.  I’d say mostly the shaft. Found a shaft that really meshed well with the Pings.

This is spot on with my experience as well.  8k spin with a 7 iron (indoors off a mat) is just way too much.  Slower greens in the pnw and the occasional wind 10mph would make that no fun

I hit all of the T Series last weekend.  The rep had full sets.  The T150 is going to be a big hit.  I've been playing the i230's.  Subjectively, I prefer the look and feel of the of the Titleist.  In terms of performance/playability, it's pretty similar until you get longer into the bag.  I noticed a difference, in favor of the i230's, once I hit the 5 and 4 irons.  I'd personally go with the T200 in the 4i and probably the 5i. The T series will open up a lot of fitting options as the 100, 150 and 200 blend really well.  If I were in the market for new irons, it would be a close call between the i230 and a T series combo but already owning the i230, I don't see a big enough reason to change.

For what it's worth, I played the '21 T100S for a few rounds last year, and the i230's I've played most of this year seem to spin more and fly higher.  I wouldn't get too discouraged yet.

8000 with a 7 iron? That's a crazy amount of spin. I had i230 and switched to T100. The only reason I went T100 over T150 is spin. I could not spin the T150 enough. I was pretty shocked when the fitter suggested the T100 because I thought that it would be to tough to hit but they are amazingly forgiving. Could be shaft or set up but I hit the center of the club more with the T100 than I did with the Pings.

You can't go wrong with either clubs. I like the look, feel, and feeling through the grass with the T100 over the Pings but I could have easily kept the Pings. I think the i230 are more forgiving on thin and severe toe hits than the T100.

Fitter yanked the 150 away quicker than anything I have ever tried.

Has anyone done side by side on a monitor with t100s vs t150? Currently Game the t100s, so the 150 would need to be leaps and bounds better to switch, but just curious

Yes, I did.  T150 launched higher and spin more.  Ball speed was slightly more consistent with the t150.    Distance and side to side dispersion went to t100s.  The t150 look and feels better and is ever so slight larger.

To be fair my 100s have .5 inch over px 6.5.  The t150s had standard length px 6.5

Wow you too??

Just went to the titlelist regional fitting center yesterday thinking I would get t150/200 blended set.

The first club he hands me is the t100 and I'm thinking nah no way I can hit a club that small. I'm an 8 handicap.

I also found that it was surprisingly forgiving. Didn't really miss with it despite its slightly intimidating size. After a few shots, I got used to it and it felt amazing.

Also tried t150 and t200, but similar to you, I wasn't spinning them enough! For reference in the 7 iron, with the t100, I achieved high ball speed (I forget which) 1.44 smash factor, 90 ft peak height and 6400 spin. The t150 was about the same, higher ball speeds due to stronger loft, and around 5900 spin.

Ultimately, he actually recommended t100 from PW to 8 and t150 from 7-5.

I hit the t200 5 iron and it was pretty low spinning and somehow one went 233, which is just dumb to me anyways because it would cause insane gapping issues - it rolled out like 15/20 yards too. I will say it felt way better than I expected.

Shafts tested: AMT white, s300, rifle 6.0, px lz 6.0, modus 120 stiff. The best shafts for me were px lz 6.0, and modus 120.

Overall, the t100/150 we're the nicest feeling irons I've ever hit. Even when it felt like I missed, when I looked up, it performed surprisingly well (I think it does better on slightly thin shots vs fat shots).

Although they can be a bit intimidating, I think over time, it will also make me a better ball striker.

No numbers or on course reviews yet but here's my initial feed back.

T150 is smaller in every way.  More chromed look, whereas i230 is very satin.

T150 feels really good,  not butter soft but satisfying. More strike information to the hands compared to i230.

I also ordered both of these sets as stock lie but the t150 look maybe 1* more upright... I would need to get that checked, I'm not sure if there's any stock lie differences.

Excellent! Thanks for the comp. Assuming the T100s have more workability as well. I

Round one in the books and these definitely go higher than the i230s. Felt just as forgiving if not more because I felt like thin strikes performed much better. Divots were actually shorter from front to back, too... so I feel these got out of the ground slightly faster.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with these clubs. No monitor data and probably won't bother.
