Can’t wait to give them a go. Got along well with the 2017 and 2019 versions, but the last iteration was really bad for me. I’ve since played left dash prov1x or regular prov1x for last couple of years and it’ll be tough to kick but really want these to be good.9FB55175-BA68-4794-AF31-53D4BC319EFC.jpeg.d7ad522a70cafd6a1aefd2466f84aba8.jpeg

Keen to see your feedback from any testing you do. I too am a Dash player and would find it very hard to replace, but I’m always interested to hear what else is playing well for people

If these will be the 2024 models are they replacing the 2021's? Were there 2022 or 2023 Taylor Made models? Can only recall seeing tests of 2021's.

Yes, these will be the 2024 model replacing the 2021s, normally they are on a 2 year cycle for TP5 but due to the boom in golf ball demand the past few years they extended an extra year. By all accounts (including my own) they spent the extra year wisely on R&D, these are going to really good.

I also received the the new golf balls to test. Does anyone know if these are USGA approved for tournament play? Plan on using them in an event.

I haven't seen anyone post the side stamp where it says TP5 or TP5x.  Need to see the side stamps to determine if they are on the conforming list or not.

Pics are a burr blurry, but how’s the sidestamp.

Finally got a chance to test the 2024 TP5 Proto. Course was pretty spread out so I was able to play two balls. My normal gamer Tour BX and the ‘24 TP5 Proto. Here’s my review:

1 They definitely made the ball firmer and it’s much better off the tee than the previous model. Easily 5-10 yds longer of the driver. It was basically going just as far as my Tour BX.

2 The Proto definitely has a lower flight than the previous ball, and spins less off the longer clubs. I don’t have launch monitor numbers to back that up, but to the eyes it definitely seems less “floaty”

3 Off the irons, there is a firmer feel than the old ball, but not clicky or hard. If I had to compare, it’s firmer then Tour B XS and but softer than Tour BX. It’s about the same 5 or so yards longer off the irons.

4 Spin wise, it’s still a higher spinning ball, but don’t think it’s as much as the old model. plenty of stopping power, just not crazy spin.

5 Had about a 1 club wind today, so was able to see it into, down, and crosswind. Besides the distance improvement of the driver, this is the biggest improvement. Much more controllable.

6 Greenside it’s just as good as the older ball. Plenty of control and spin. Nice soft feel.

7 Durability is much improved. I didn’t hit it in any bunkers, but had plenty of short irons and wedges and not a scuff on the ball. (See pics)

It’s an improvement over the previous ball no doubt. If I had to say what ball it reminds me of, it would be Pro V1, which obviously is a good thing. I was impressed, not sure it would kick my Tour BX out of the rotation since it just does everything I want in a ball with my preferred higher trajectory, but it’s a very good ball.

Looks like it's on the conforming list.

So seems consistent that it is lower spin than the 21 model?  More like the 19 model?

Can’t speak to the X, but the standard TP5 is definitely lower spinning off the tee and irons than the ‘19 model.

If the TP5x is moving back towards the playing characteristics of the 2019 ball, that will be disappointing to me. I loved the original TP5x, hated the 2019 version, and feel the 2021 is a really good ball.

By the end of the 2019-20 model run, the only member of the tour staff playing the TP5x was Higgs. Everyone else had moved away from it because it didn't spin enough and it felt too firm, so I genuinely do not understand why so many folks here are excited for it to move back in that direction.

Obviously can only speak for myself and my fit but for me personally, 2021 TP5x wasn’t a bad ball, it just didn’t do anything particularly great. To me the original was great distance wise because of the lower spin and really great in the wind, two areas my game needs help with. 19 was similar to original but I had major durability issues with them and then 21 it was just meh, imo.

Rory went back to it (2019 tp5x) at the end of last season and has had a decent run with it since.

The 21 version felt nice, but it wasn’t a low spin ball and really did not have much  separation with the tp5.   Didn’t seem to be as fast (ballspeed with robot testing) as the other low spin balls.

Would you say the new TP5X is similar to the current V1X? I tried the new TP5 and it was definitely better off the driver for me, but not what I want in my iron game. It was too flat trajectory wise and not enough spin. Interested to see if the new TP5X is higher trajectory and higher spinning off the irons thwt the new TP5.

I hope TM doesn’t pull a Titleist and change the TP5 models’ playing characteristics. It’s only going to lead to confusion.

New X flies higher but still spins less the new TP5, on both the driver and irons. It sounds like the ProV1X you are using is what you want, higher flying and a little spinnier
