Should your club championship be played from the tips?

Wasn’t me that used the word.  Bit if someone asked you what the course record is what is your answer? Are you really going to say six different answers based on tee?  
 

Another way to look at it is personal best score. If someone asked you what your personal best score is do you tell them about the day you played the ladies way up tees for fun?

"Course Record", *I* would think, would have to be the best score shot from the tips,,,,,,, by anybody.

 

I have seen golf courses (think NYC muni) where there are a number of different organized clubs playing and the clubs might post on their own board their "Club's" course record.

 

Personal best is interesting though & I'm not sure there's 1 answer, but no, I'd never claim my -6 from the lady's tees was my personal best round.

 

*I* would say my personal best, from the tee set/distances I play from, usually the men's (white) tees, was a -1 at a true tournament mountain course in upstate NY. It included a triple and the day's differential was 6 or 7 better than my index at the time.

 

As opposed to the 5 or 6 times over 20+ years I shot -4 at my home (muni) course (~4 or 5 better than index at the time).

I feel like the club I'm a member at has a good format for our Championship. Stroke play, 36 holes. Men (back tees), Senior Men (55+, middle tees), Super Senior Men (75+, forward tees), Women (forward tees), Senior Women (55+, forward tees). The Champion of each division is based on gross, the net winner also gets some club credit money. Any divisions with >20 competitors also award some credit to 2nd place gross and net. Senior or Super Senior men have the options to play longer tees and if they opt to do that they compete in that division. For example if a 55 year old or 75 year old man wanted to play the back tees they'd compete in the Open Men division and compete for the overall Club Championship. Oh, and they also announced that if a 55+ woman had the lowest women's gross score overall she'd earn Club Champion (overall) honors for the board in the pro shop and that made sense to me since all women were playing the same tees.
 

I'm 58, male, and hit it far enough to be competitive in the Open division. But I play the middle tees 90% of the time because that's what my group plays so I played Seniors in this tournament.
