Just hit the tsr2 5 wood..not a fan how it looked.  I didn't adjust it but the head shape looked weird and even closed.  It was a A1 but didn't adjust it.

Been playing a G425 5 wood cranked up to 16* and have never hit a fairway wood so well

I am sure I just ruined it by making that statement

Are 5w as spinny as 7ws?  I'm considering putting in a high wood to replace my 3 iron but read in another topic that the 7ws are really high spin and are essentially unplayable in wind due to balooning.  Is there a similar effect with a 5?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but at least when I am swinging the club, the higher the number the higher the ball. ;)

In all seriousness though it really does depend on a few things. Compared to a 3 iron, a 7w, for me, would be at least twice as high, and wouldn't have a lot of roll after it landed. A 5w is a flatter flight and a longer follow through, but not by a lot on either count

Love the Ping fairway woods, never hit a fairway wood as well.  They sit very flat and square.  The 5 wood is so good, I find myself never going for the  3 wood...worth a test.

That's my experience with G425 Max. Have to find the right shaft for you, but that head turned my fairway wood game around.

The g430 max 5 wood is very popular on tour because they put hot melt out in the toe to offset the draw bias of the head.

Also a low spin player and highly suggest the Ping 425 or 430.

From some details I read the 425 has more spin, the 425 little lower spin but higher launch.

I just put Callaway Epic Flash. In the bag and couldn't be happier.

Forgiving, great feel and the Callaway hosel adjustments make it perfect for me.

Agreed with Epic Flash and will also add Ping G425 into the mix given it's price drop. I'd favor the Ping if you hit it off the deck a lot. I play a hybrid now because it's more versatile for my style of play and course conditions.

Did you have a “top 3”? Just curious if anything g was a close 2nd, etc.

I did like the srixon mk II model as well but Ping was just more forgiving and didn’t go left on me.

Everyone commenting on the UW being too low spin hasn't hit the current iteration of it. Very versatile club and i believe the spin has been addressed appropriately by Callaway

I didn’t hit the new UW, but had no luck with the original due to the low launch and spin. I did hit the new mizzy ti fairway woods. Even with the kaili blue it was low launch and  spin.

I just got a PXG 0211 5 wood. Love it. Little taller face than the Pings. I let two of my golf buddies hit it and they both ordered one.

I found TSR3 (current gamer) and SIM2 TI 5 woods to be great clubs. I tried the SIM2 first, it was a great club, easy to hit from the fairway. Solid feeling when making solid contact, more like a thwack, which I like.

The TSR3 is just as solid as the SIM2 TI, a different feel and sound. I like it just as much as the SIM2 TI. Both clubs are easy to hit.

The face depth on both are perfect to me, not too deep or not to shallow.

I'm a big fan of the Callaway and Titleist adapters. I like that the face and lie adjustments are independent of each other.

Gen4/5 XF PXG.

XF has rails like Cobra's that help get through turf. The 5 in the XF comes in at 19° standard loft. I went from a G425 to this. Less shallow but defintiely more pop.
