1) PGA Tour buys the DP World Tour and LPGA Tour 

 

2) Bottom events of the DP World Tour and KFT combine into one tour ... we can call this the DP World Tour (it would AAA level)

PGA Tour and top half events on the DP World Tour combine into one tour ... we can call this PGA Tour 

 

3) OWGR goes away ... no longer necessary 

 

4) PGA Tour will have 95 players on tour 

     Top 25 PGA Tour Players (top 50 for year one)

     Top 25 DP World Players

     Top 25 KFT Fall Series (we will get to what this is)

     Top 5 PGA Tour U

     Top 5 WAGR

     Top 5 Q-School 

 

5) 8 Month Season Jan to August

 

6) Regular Season events comprised of 100 players

    95 members

    1 local qualifier (local ams and min tour players only)

    2 Monday qualifiers (non restricted)

    1 Restricted Sponsor Exemption (must be a AAA player)

    1 Non Restricted Sponsor Exemption

 

7) Regular Season events 

    72 Holes

    36 Hole Cut to 70 players

    54 Hole Cut to 40 players 

    Points award to the top 25 players (1 points for making 36 hole cut, 2 points for making 54 hole cut)

 

7) Schedule 

    Event 1 January Melbourne, 100 players

    Event 2 January Kapalua, 100 players

    Event 3 February Phoenix, 100 players

    Event 4 February LA, 100 players

    Event 5 March THE PLAYERS (top 50 in the standing from first 4 events)

     Event 6 March Pebble Beach 100 players (can be a team event of some form instead of pro am)

    Event 7 April The Masters (I have some ideas for qualifying changes, 70 player field)

    Event 8 April Tokyo 100 players 

    Event 9 May PGA Championship (I have some ideas for qualifying changes 120 player field)

     Event 10 May Memorial 100 players 

    Event 11 June US Open (I have some ideas for qualifying changes, 156 player field) 

    Event 12 June The Match Play (this should be held in Europe) (top 32 current players on tour)

   Event 13 July Irish Open 100 players

   Event 14 July Scottish Open 100 players

   Event 15 July Open Championship (top 50 players from the last 2 events auto qualify, 156 player field)

    Event 16 August Ryder Cup, The Olympics, or the World Cup of Golf (new event) depending on the year

    Event 17 World Championship (16 players qualify)

4 Major Champions 

The Players Champion

Next top 10 in the Points 

36 hole Monday qualifier for 1 spot (remaining players from the top 25 qualify for this qualifier)

 

9) World Championship Format

18 Hole Match, bracket tournament 

Front 9 holes are worth 1 point, back nine holes worth 2 points

Major Champions are the top 4 seeds 

Sunday 36 hole Championship match 

First 18 holes are worth 1 point, Second 18 holes are worth 2 points

Consolation Matches on Sunday during the afternoon 

3 place match 18 holes 

Alternate Shot match between the loser of the quarterfinals 

 

10) Q-School takes place in September 

      Week 1 Pre Qualifying (10 locations, 100 players per location)

      Week 2 1st Stage (10 locations, 100 players per location)

      Week 3 2nd Stage (5 locations, 50 players per location)

      Week 4 Final Stage (100 players)

      Top 5 get their Tour Card for the next year

       Top 5-30 get on DP World Tour and qualify for KFT Fall Series

 

11) KFT Fall Series October to November

      6 event series 150 players 

      Following 125 player auto qualify into first 5 events

      PGA Tour 26 to 100, 50 players

      DP World 26 to 50, 25 players

      Q School 5 to 30, 25 players

      25 Monday Qualifiers are at each event

      54 Hole events (36 Saturday, cut to 70 players, 18 holes Sunday)

      Winner is the only player who get a higher pay, every player who makes the cut get paid the same

      If you win one the first 5 events, you automatically qualify for the PGA Tour next year

      The next top 40 players qualify for the final event 

      Final Event Match Play, 36 hole matches for a PGA Tour Card

      Player 1 vs Player 40, and so on

      Two Day matches, First 18 holes count 1 point, Second 18 holes count 2 points

i like most of this, especially fewer events in California and Florida.

 

the need to fix the Fed Ex Cup.  i would make the match play the final event of the season with a 32 player bracket. anything is better than the silly incumbent staggered scoring. the guys who played well were already rewarded winning tons of $ during the regular season, they don't need to be given an additional handicap .

The biggest reason the PGA Tour struggles today is someone else with far too much money needing laundering, has too much time on his hands.  

 

I like the PGA Tour as it was before LIV country club golf, ludicrous bribery and media distortion.

Just 95 players have cards?  Do they all have to play every event to fill fields? If not where do their replacements come from?  This sounds like Greg’s world tour idea from the 80’s to me.  95 players is basically the equivalent of being an MLB AllStar.  
And only the top 25 keep their card?  
 

This would be one way to make LIV relevant.

Parts of this I definitely like, particularly the 16-person matchplay for the World Championship to finish the season. Much better than the current Fed-Ex and Tour Championship set up. Call it the Fed Ex World Championship and keep the sponsorship money too.
