Bandon

Recommended Posts

I booked my flights for my August 2024 Bandon trip yesterday.  Worth it to me.

That said, you live in Nova Scotia.  Why not just drive up to Cabot?  You basically have two Bandon courses in your back yard.  I haven't been to Bandon yet.  Cabot Cliffs ranks as my #1 favorite golf course ever, and I've played a fair bit of places.

  • 2 weeks later...

Been itching to get back - thinking about organizing a small group (4) this December (the weather looked pretty mild throughout the month).  Need to try out Shorty's (my vote for the best logo at Bandon)!

You bring up an interesting topic ... in general the logos at Bandon are not terrific. Just my opinion.

100% agree - they are all just "ok".  If we had to do a power ranking (who doesnt' like a ranking), I'd go:

1) Shorty's

2) Sheep Ranch

3) Preserve

4) Old Mac

5) Pac Dunes

6) Trails

7) Bandon Dunes

Interesting to have BD last. I love the puffin. For me:

1) Bandon Dunes

2) Shortys

3) Sheep

4) Preserve

5) Pac Dunes

6) Old Mac

I think Pac is the worst but I can go with any of those three last. If the ghost tree alt logo counts its second.

agree and I think the logos are weak across the whole Dream Golf brand.

SV logo is not great.
mammoth is the best of them all

The Cabot logos are ruined by insisting on putting the papyrus script CABOT text under all of them.

I think the logos are pretty basic but are obviously easy to replicate across a bunch of different sized "stuff".

Weak logos doesnt prevent me from checking their online store a few times a month to see what I really cant live without.

FWIW I think the Preserve is the best one and I didnt even play there on our trip.

OG SIM 10.5* - Ventus Black 6x

BRNR 13.5 / Ventus Blue Velocore+ 7s // TM Qi10 5W/ 7W Ventus Blue 6s

Vokey SM8 50*/54*/58*

Cody James custom // Left Dash

I love the Mammoth logo and cant wait to get a couple things with it when we go in 3 months. Same with Lido.

SV is fairly meh.

Fr NS, you got cabot cliffs which is miles better than any course at bandon(Don't think there's a single finishing hole at any course at bandon that's worth mentioning) and an easier flight to Ireland which is miles better than bandon.  From that side of town, go to ireland.  Ireland is the GOAT. Bandon is top 5.

Already have played Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links, Fox Harbr is a great course too. They are planning an ocean course there soon.

Thank you everyone who replied and provided their opinion, after working out the cost and travel time and getting the most bang for your buck, myself and 2 other friends decided we are going to play and stay at Pinehurst going to do the “Donald Ross Golf trip”!

Make sure you include both No. 4 and No. 2 courses.  Let us know which was your favorite.

Avoid #6.

Book your cradle tee time when you book the rest of your rounds.

#3 is a lot of fun and the perfect second round after playing one of their big boy courses.

Spend time on Thistle Du.

Play #2 towards the end of your trip.

Pine needles, Mid Pines, and Southern Pines are great add ons if you have time.

Have a blast.

Being in Nova Scotia that is going to be a really ugly trip getting there. You likely can go do a golf trip to Ireland for less money. But Bandon is very good.

How about the Cabot courses?  Aren't they in your backyard, so to speak?

But yes, Bandon is spectacular.

My set-up:
Bag - Flex Tech Crossover
Driver - Ping G430 MAX with HZRDUS Black Smoke

3 Wood - Ping G430

Hybrid - Rocketballz 3 Hybrid
Irons - Cobra King Tour irons

Wedges - Ping Glide 4  50* / 54* / 58*
Putter - Bettinardi Queen Bee #6
Shoes - Ecco Hybrid
Ball - Maxfli Tour X
