Tour New Toulon putters - 2024 Genesis Invitational

I would say that priced over $450 would be a mistake.  Both Scotty and Ping PLD milled line is $450 and those are very similar.  The quality of the PLD is impressive with the milling shaft, head cover, and grip.  That is their competition.  Too much higher and they will price themselves out.  I do hope they are successful as I think they are a great company but the amount of people who pay that much for a putter is small and the competition these days is very extensive!

But will it? There is no mention of first run on the head (which I'm fine with and prefer). I would personally opt for the deep etched grip so the only thing first run would be my head cover. Unless this finish is specifically for the first run and they make changes for the general release, I don't see these holding value.

Shaft band is First Run too but that's really besides the point. I'm hoping the finish is different on the stock models. Personally, I love the finish so it'll be my gamer to start the season. I usually end up sending out stainless and carbon heads to get finished similar to this anyways, so for me, it was worth it.

I really hope the finish is the same for the stock models.  If anything a black finish would be okay, but this chocolate finish is money, just a bit much dollar wise.  I've owned over 20 Camerons and never had a Toulon but this lineup is making me consider the brand.  They did a lot of things right - simple face milling, clean design, no cherry bombs (yes, I can't stand them anymore), great colors, heads shapes, etc.  The only possible improvement I could see is custom stamping in the cavity that reads something like:

TOULON

VISTA, CA 92081

 

and leave out the logo entirely in the cavity.  But that is more a wish and custom stuff.  I really like this offering and hope it becomes more in line pricing wise.

I'm so happy these don't have the cheap Odyssey branding and badge. The original Toulon that had the mid-face milling and clean look were so nice. I had the blacked out San Diego as well and I had it customized to remove the badge and welded over the badge hole and odyssey.

The 2024 First Run Madison features our Chocolate finish and our heritage design grip and headcover package.
 

It reads like this finish is for the first run, but I’m not certain.

Had one in my cart until it totaled nearly $700 with shipping and tax.  I put the $20 dark shaft on tho.

I'm gonna backtrack here. I was ok with the price but the more I looked at them, the less I like the chocolate finish. 

 

I also just finished redoing my Minovai2.0 and I really like it. Made it a little harder to pull the trigger.

Quick update on the new Toulon team:

 

Received an email about 6 hours after I purchased from Preston regarding a special request on the order. He advised me that everything was taken care of, putter was built and shipped immediately. He thanked me for my purchase and offered his assistance with anything I needed in the future. In my opinion, THIS is what makes Toulon great. Customer service is top notch, a team that cares about their name, product and customers and incredibly professional.  I couldn't be more impressed with the new first impression these guys are making as they enter back into the boutique game.

If the LV was a slant neck I would have bought it. I know the 1st launch was a lot of work, but really hoping for a custom garage program in the future.

Preston is a great person who did a fantastic job communicating here in his previous role.  Sean Toulon has contributed so much to the world of golf equipment.  I am happy they got the family together for this re-launch, and I am more than willing to support them moving forward.

If you want a slant theres plenty to choose from. People were crying for a plumbers neck so I guess they went with that first in this new style.

Yeah I have one in silver, but like the new shape, finish and better branding. Want to see them side by side though. It's supposed to a bit larger footprint.

Ordered a Las Vegas with plumbers neck, for two reasons… it’s a great looking finish and putter and to support them. Sean is a great guy and goes above and beyond, only felt right to buy something from the their first release. I went full out with Diamana shaft after talking to him, love my Vegas flow neck with stability shaft so has to try the new graphite offering. Supposed to get it in hand Monday or Tues next week

I have my San Diego but waiting for my KBS GPS matte black to show up. Initial thoughts are AMAZING. Finish looks so good, changes in the light vs dark, it’s pretty buttery. I’m hoping it patinas a bit as it gets gamed.

I know it’s not going to patina like a rusty Vokey, but it should lose some of its luster just like the Cameron

no sir. This is a PVD finish that will essentially not wear whatsoever

 

there are no Scotty’s with a PVD finish
