How angry would you be? Delta Airlines

Recommended Posts

The first thought I had when I saw this was imagine how much harder it is on their backs to manhandle those bags like that vs being a bit more gentle. Definitely not a happy thing to think about as someone who is about to get on an airplane with golf clubs for the first time in nearly 20 years.

I love all the responses on here saying we should expect this or we shouldn't be surprised.  If this is so expected, then why would Delta apologize?

Also, asking for a mulligan??  You take mulligans on the difficult shots.  It's not difficult to realize this is somebody else's equipment, and they probably don't want it broken.  I don't expect it to be rolled around the airport on pillows, but sheesh, maybe don't throw it!

Yawn. ETSU got a bit of viral fame, and none of their clubs were remotely damaged. You put more stress on your clubs bombing and gouging on the course than the way those bags were thrown. I've traveled overseas with my clubs multiple times. Soft travel bag, no stiff arm, driver head screwed off and in a pocket, just a bunch of clothes wrapped around the clubs. The worst that has ever happened was losing a dozen golf balls.

There is a reason why American Tourister had a commercial in 1970 with a gorilla trying to destroy it's suitcase. Even 54 years ago, travelers knew that airline baggage handlers would treat their luggage like crap. They're not paid extra for handling someone's golf clubs with care; they're paid based on how quickly they can turn-around an aircraft.

If you want your golf bag to travel without being thrown around, drive or fly private.

The guy unloading the plane is an 💩.  Probably jealous of golfers and their equipment.  You can see the person loading the cargo cart taking reasonable care.  If an airline company destroys your freight or loses it they can be held accountable, although I don't know how many people bother to sue.

Using a hard case helps, although those can break/crack with extreme negligence or malice.

The company should fire him or at least give him a warning.

Agreed.  The old adage do unto others, etc….seems to no longer apply. Everyone for themselves.

Not just in a hurry to get them off, just throw them with malicious  intent.

A coworker from many years ago, his summer job in university was a baggage handler, in his words “we’d see those golf bags and throw them as hard as we could “, that’s verbatim.

It’s like they’re pi$$ed off they have to lift things on the job.  🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s not great but I agree…the faux outrage on Twitter is pretty funny in a silly way.

NEVER FLYING DELTA AGAIN!

🙄

Bull💩. Air travelers are the most price sensitive on the planet. Your Delta flight is $8 less than fill-in-the-blank airline, you’re booking that Delta ticket!

Let me see.  You arrive just in time to make the flight. You want the baggage handled with kid gloves along with the other 400 bags per flight, and you don't want a delay, heaven forbid.

When you arrive you expect those 400 bags to be brought to you asap, but Lord forbid be careful with MY bag.

I'm sorry, I'm probably all wrong, but those guys load and unload thousands of bags per day, 24/7.  I'm not blaming anyone in that position for much of anything.  They are human too. Were they wrong, probably, but I personally, don't care.  I would not have expected to see them treat the luggage any lightly and if they did, more power to them.

Flame away.

I disagree.  You'd be mad if someone dented your car, left dog poop on your lawn, or put a dummy mark on your new driver, and didn't take responsibility.  Those are all property infringements, however in those cases you aren't paying those people.  How people treat other people's properties is fundamental to society as is how people complete a job they've willingly accepted for pay.

Your premise is entirely fabricated here.  You've created a character and a scenario which are completely different than the situation, before going on to apologize, and admit that you are wrong and don't care because you have low expectations.  You then invite people to argue with you.  Very strange indeed.

Maybe because someone shot video that went viral. If that wasn't the case, Delta or any other airline wouldn't give two 💩💩

Expectation doesn't equate to acceptability, and despite the popular idiom, all PR ISN'T good PR. How many apologies do we hear in the political world from people we know don't really mean it? No different with huge corporations. Delta will prove they are serious once they announce that the employees poorly handling others' personal effect have been fired and will continue to be when any similar evidence is revealed. Until then, it is nothing but lip service offered under the guise of customer service.

I once overheard someone in Walmart asking if they would match Lowe's price on potting soil.  The price difference - 2 cents!!!

If they simply set the oversized bags on the ground, and then reversed the cart 5 feet at the end, they would save the energy and damage.

Absolutely.  This was depraved behavior.  There was zero reason or excuse for these clowns to be treating anyone's property like that.  And the acceptance,  even borderline cheerleading of it in this thread is indeed disturbing.

You pack things carefully on the off chance of inadvertent abuse (falls off a truck or cart,  etc), not so it can endure certain and totally gratuitous, purposeful abuse.
