Pendulum swings. Remember, all that chatter always ended with.. “Nobody can putt like that forever.”

I think Spieth has been among the most affected by the ban on green reading books. He relied on them a lot.

Supposedly he wasn't a great putter as an am/junior, then caught lightning in a bottle for his first few seasons as a pro, then reverted.  He's better on the longer ones than the 5-6 footers.

Assuming the wind stays down as forecast, pretty safe bet that your eventual winner is one of the guys already at or very near the front  that can hit their irons miles in the air and bring them down the steepest. Because of this, they are essentially hitting into bigger greens than the rest of the field and that will matter more and more as conditions get firmer. Huge advantage, and we've likely seen the most gettable conditions of the entire weekend already because it's going to be so hot.

Rory couldn't ask for a better opportunity to break his drought.

Hey All,

First I used to play blue dot maxfly balls. Do they even exist anymore?

No, I’m just a licensed geologist who uses the scientific method in a professional capacity. Unlike a high school teacher who does not do that

Well good for you licensed an all. And using the scientific method. But I'm not impressed I know several licensed geologists. Good people generally not pretentious and pompous.

I'm baffled why you say high school teachers don't or can't use the scientific method. Please explain. Do you think comprehension of Ho.Ha and p values are beyond their comprehension. Who uses those in field geological work anyway. An example, who says that hillside is gonna slide down on that highway (p less than 0.05)? Do you? But then what about type I versus type II errors why 0.05 etc...

To me at the end of the day the powers of observation knowledge of parent materials soils vegetation slope water interactions with these are integrated within the mind of a good geologist and a judgement call made. This to me is certainly methodological science.

Similar thinking applies to landforms an geomorphology.

 Apparently not to you.

High school science teachers a 100 odd years ago certainly were capable of this and did it. Even J Harlan Bretz was a high school teacher in Seattle before obtaining a Ph.D. In case you didn't know bretz did get the Penrose medal.

Some references.

https://www.nickzentner.com/  For lots of geology including the ice age floods and more.

Maybe what ever licensing authority that licensed you will give you continuing education credits if you pursue some of Nick's work

I wish every major was presented like Augusta but sadly for everybody, it’s impossible.

To be fair, they get a lot of practice and a lot of money.

It's got to be a lot tougher on everyone at a course where a big tournament only rolls around every 10 years or so...

Now that Schauffele got the major monkey off his back, Cantlay does seem next in line. Some way Homa, but I think Cantlay is an all around better player.

The fact that the network carrying the U.S. Open switched the final nine over to their paywall service while the 3 best players in the world were playing together is just corporate greed and bvllshit on overdrive. Not to mention the commercials. Shame on you NBCU and Comcast. We all hate you!

Honestly I miss the US Open on fox. Sure they got off to a rough start at chambers and Joe Buck isn’t that great at calling golf (or Football). But they actually showed a ton of golf and actually did some pretty cool stuff. First network to do shot tracing on every swing and they had some cool target graphics as well. NBC Golf has been going downhill for 3ish years now. The fact that the final hour of coverage is on a streaming service is a disgrace. I understand that ESPN+ carried some PGA Championship coverage, but they didn’t have us hopping between 3 different platforms. I hope the USGA and the R&A kick NBC to the curb when the deals are up

IMO stuff like this will eventually kill some interest in pro sports.  People aren't going to assemble 15 different streaming services to watch games.

But hey, grow the game, am I right?
