I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the 3' putt I missed, and start thinking about what I could have done to make it. I'll come home from a bad round, and start watching the golf channel, then go back to the course an hour later to practice the part of my game that was bad that day. I'll be in a meeting, and instead of listening to what's going on, I'll catch myself thinking of how I'm going to play the 1st hole as soon as I get out of here. My girlfriend thinks I'm always ignoring her, because I don't answer her. She don't realize I'm thinking of the good/bad shot I hit earlier that day, and hoping it either happens, or don't happen next time I go out. I only had 1 weekend this year I couldn't play around here, so I bought an indoor putting green after reading a thread on here about them.

 

For a long time, I thought I was the weird one. After reading this thread, I figured out I'm just normal, and all the other people that don't do this are the weird ones.

Wife's Diary:

Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed, but he didn't say much. I asked him what was wrong; He said, "nothing." I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.

On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior. I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.'

When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent.

Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed. About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep; I cried. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.

My life is a disaster.

Husband's Diary, same day:

A two-foot putt.. Who the hell misses a two-foot putt?

Also when you violently twitch yourself out of sleep because you thought you were swinging at a teed up golf ball.

Played a round this morning two towns away. Had to swing by the in-laws to help them with some stuff. On my way home, stopped at the course in the next town over and walked another 6 holes real quick. Then once I got back to my town, stopped at the range for a small bucket. Nothing particularly crazy, just one of those days where you want to swing the club and take every little chance you get.

Have your meniscus repaired, then a week later, play golf.

 

My top crazy true story. Fracture my left ankle the end of March. Have a plate and 9 screws inserted. End of June go on a week long golf trip. New swing key- get my weight onto the plate on the followthrough.

It's raining steadily and you say "hey, I'm going to out to practice at my home course for a couple hours." And then follow an hour of practicing in the rain with 18 holes.

Seriously, this happens to me twice a month and my wife is like, 'what the heck was that?'. But I don't tell her because I wouldn't hear the end of it....all you think about it golf. Blah blah blah!

I always joke with my fiancé about this. I tell her that if she plans on being in labor for more than 6 hours I am going to play a round of golf and be back with plenty of time to spare. She usually threatens me with my life and I laugh it off like I was joking the whole time......but there's a small part of me that is serious.
