But how come when you want to order a non I Mix ft9 with a fubuki 63 off their website, it's $875?

Because they want the i-Mix to be the same price with non-upgraded stock offerings. I know this sounds goofy, but I bet they would charge you an 'upcharge' for the Made for Callaway ZCom in an FT-iq too. Just a nice bonus for those that like their stock shaft offerings in the iMix.

You are exactly right. FT-IQ with the made for callaway z com is $902.50.

I called Callaway yesterday and ordered an I-mix Fubuki tour 63 stiff for $136.74! (Total includes tax and shipping.) The Fubuki 60 that is the "made for Callaway" version is the same price as the tour. The 60 has red "Fubuki" lettering while the real 63 tour one has black lettering. They don't have the 73 and 83 weights. They only stock the 60 and 63 tour Fubukis with 0.350 tips. They sent me the tracking number last night, so it has already shipped! That's fast service! :clapping: :yahoo:

Ordered mine from my local pro-ship yesterday. Fubuki 63 was $129 (apparently list/standard price will be $159 - according to shop owner who spoke with Callaway Rep. yesterday). It didn't matter which Imix head was ordered - I ordered a non-Tour FT-9. According to shop owner, Callaway Rep. explained that they can only do this with non-glued shafts and that if you're wanting such custom shafts, the Imix heads are the way to go. Glad I read this thread - that's for sure! Thanks to all who pointed this out.

Does the Fubuki imix shaft fit into the FT-5 head? If so, that's only $260 for the head and shaft. Don't need a new drive, but this has me thinking.

Yes it will fit the FT-5 head, all I-mix shafts fit all I-mix heads.

Good for you guys.

I'm still waiting for my last question about the specs differences between 350 and 335 tip.

Between tour one and Non tour, they are very different in specs for sure and no MDT technology.

So for good for you who don't think there is any different between 335 and 350 tip. To bad for you guys who think there is a different, especially if there are any differences in specs too.

As long as the performance result is what you are looking, that price would be worth it to spend definitely.

Joe,

You are definitely the master when it comes to club building, so your thoughts are always highly regarded. What would the differences really be between a 335 and 350 tip if they are both made by Mitsubishi and are "real" shafts and not made for the OEM? I've played a Mitsubishi in both tip sizes and didn't notice a difference. Granted I'm only a weekend golfer with a 4 handicap, but would a 335 tip shimmed to fit a 350 hosel (for example in a Ping Rapture) play differently than a 350 tip without a shim?

Just curious...

You should read all my posts from the top again and you should find my opinions on your question which again and again i said that IT'S SUBJECTIVE to the individual. Good for you if you THINK there is no different.

I just can't use the words EXACT SAME One when i know just the tip size along is NOT the same, despite how the performance result is. To me the definition of EXACTLY THE SAME is EXACTLY THE SAME.

Good for me also that I can sale more :)

Ok I just the answer:

They can't reveal the specs because it's a Callaway proprietary issue.

What ever that means :) You guys can define it your self ;)

Let down. Thanks for the honest info Joe. Do you know about the R9 TP Fubuki shafts? Real or not?

Joe,

I've read all the posts and agree that FEEL is very subjective. However, given your experience with building clubs and fitting people, I'd like to know specifically if you find any REAL performance differences in a 335 vs. a 350 tip shaft. In other words, does the larger tip provide more or less stability vs. a 335 tip? Does it affect trajectory or have any impact on frequency, torque, etc.? Would a 335 tip with a shim to fit a 350 hosel have less "integrity" than a 350 tip inserted straight in?

We can all debate feel, but I'm looking more for solid evidence based on your fitting and club building experiences, regardless of this issue with the Callaway Fubuki shaft.

Thanks!

Kevin

Add me to the list...ships in 3 to 5 days and the guy again confirmed that this is the "tour" model and is the real deal. He understood exactly what I was asking and admitted that this shaft is quite different from the 60 that's in the non-tour IQ.

I asked the same question of David at Callaway. If it's not the real deal and/or I'm not happy with it, I'll simply call Callaway and get a return authorization number and send it back. The possible upside is worth the $12 or so it will cost me to ship it back if it's not the real deal.

Ok now, I hate to do this but I do what i have to do i guess.

I just weight the 350 tip S flex 63 a pulled shaft from a FTiQ and from my calculation base on this, the static weight of this shaft is around 69-70 gr at least when it's uncut NEW, Versus the normal standard 63 S flex uncut is around 64-65 gr.

BTW, For all of you in this thread who need to order this shaft in an Imix set up...you can email me and I'll give you a drop ship price straight from Callaway, I'll guaranty you that i will give a special pricing compare to what already mentioned here in this thread.

But please, serious inquiry only!

THX

Joe

I have not 100% sure on this. But from what i know R9TP are using a 335 hosel tip...So most likely they use the exact same 335 tip one that i carry in my shop....unless TM ask for a certain specs after their testing which will lead into Taylor Made proprietary issue.

Thank you Joe for finding out the finer details of the weight differences. :good:

Now I wonder how much are the I-mix shafts (all shafts) tipped when putting on the I-mix adapter? My regular swing speed is 106 to 108 mph (with all-out maximum speeds of 112-114), which is right on Mitsu's recommended stiff to x-stiff swing borderline. When I ordered my stiff Fubuki 63 I-mix yesterday I asked about tipping the shaft 1/4" or 1/2" and they said they could not do it since it is already tipped. They could not tell me how much tipping is done when adding the I-mix adapter.

My pleasure!

As far as i know callaway won't do any request tipping when they install the shaft other than their most normal tipping on I mix are 3/4".

If you have to have require custom tipping during installation, then I have to special order them and redo it in my shop before I final cut the shaft to lenght. Email me if you are seriously looking into this customization and we'll talk about the extra labor fee.

THX!

Add me to the list. I just placed my order for a Fubuki 63 in X flex. Total price of $138.03 delivered in 6-10 business days. Now I need to find a head. Can't decide if I should go for the FT-9 at $299 or save some cash and buy an FT-5 at $119. Decisions, decisions....

Thanks for the info!!!

Kevin

:welcomeani: The FT-9/Fubuki combo is starting a WRX cult following!!!
