FT-9 Tour iMix and Fubuki 63

Yep, Joe hooked me up with a .335 Whiteboard i-mix Kwok-style too, no ion though.. :(

Great service from Joe, it made my FT-5 quite the gamer.

Sad part is the FT-5 head broke 6 months ago (threads) and Cally customer service here (well sort of, they actually deal with a distributor) went flaky on me and I still have a broken club... I almost forget what the WB feels like (no likey in the FT-I).

Looks like I'll have to get the Fubuki . Although I would love to have it Kwok'd again, the straight deal is too good to pass up, even through Joe! Although if I remember for Joe to pull it, Kwok it, then put it back it wasn't that expensive at all (as long as you don't want the .335).

I went to a Callaway Demo a month ago and the Tour Van was there with the Trackman. I hit a few different setups and had my best results with the FTIQ 9.5 Tour V2 76g S and The FT-5 9.5 Tour WB 73g S. They did not have any FT-9's to hit , but I still preferred the traditional look over the square look. The Callaway Rep said that I would hit the FT-9 even better, so I ended up ordering the FT-9 9.5 Tour I-MIX WB 73g S.

After reading this post about the FT-9 launching lower I am starting to second guess my order. I am wondering if the Fubuki would be a better fit than the WB with the FT-9? I know it would be less expensive.

I was told that I get better results with the heavier gram less torque shaft. Would the WB 73g and the Fubuki Tour 63g be a big difference?

Just let me know, I can order it for you and tweak it the way you want it before i ship it out to you.

I just ordered one myself for my FT-5, 9.5 degree tour. I ordered the tour version of the shaft, a bit more weight and less torque. The non tour shaft is only $99.00, 60 grams and a bit more torgue. At some point I might give the FT-9 a try but I don't like that the tour version is now 1.0 degree open. FT-5 is 0.5 degrees open.

Took my new Fubuki shaft/FT-5 combo out to the range today. Wow! I was having some real difficulty with the White Board but I think I've found the shaft I've been looking for. I didn't have a launch monitor, but this shaft provided the exact flight characteristics I've been looking for...lower launch and lower overall flight and the ability to once again draw the ball. Not too low like I sometimes experienced with the White Board. With the WB I also had a problem with low pull hooks, not with the fubuki. I thought the WB felt too stiff and board like, but the Fubuki is less board like and the feel was better IMO. I can't wait to get out on the course with this combination! I really think the WB just wasn't the shaft for me, overall I lost about 10 yards of distance and had a problem with pulling the ball. I really think this might be the right shaft for me, time will tell but for now I like it...actually when I left the range I was as excited as I've been in a while about my driver and I love hitting that perfect height draw!

So what's gonna be the difference between the tour and nontour versions of the Fubuki in terms of how they play? They supposedly have the same technology right?

And for those of us that can't get to a decent launch monitor fitting, what SS ranges would be suggested for the shafts?

Non tour doesn't have a MDT technology and this shaft should have a lower kick point and lighter static weight.

SS alone can not be the judge of flex. Ideally you need to get fitted and figure it out after those fitting session.

Hello. When I order my FT-9 I don't know if I should order it with the stock Fujikura ZCOM 60 shaft or go the I-mix route and get the Fubuki 63 shaft? Can someone please tell me the difference in shafts? which one is better? Thank you.

The comparison:

Non tour fubuki63 similar to Zcom

Tour fubuki 63 similar to Z com tour

The differences are minimal on weight, but the Fubuki tour should spin less than the zcom tour and If any the fubuki tour should slightly lower ball flight.

But the non tour fubuki and z com should be pretty similar over all.

You sure about the nontour not having MDT? I've read in other places that it does and it's just a different bend/kick point profile?

What makes you think that i'm not 1000% sure?

When I ordered my shaft today from callaway I asked what the difference was between the shafts, the guy told me weight only.

Call them again and tell them you need to talk to his/her manager that know what he is doing.

Agreed. That guy was feeding you a line. Joe knows what he is talking about. Non-tour does not have MDT technology in it, and that is a big difference.

Shaft arrived today. Man it looks good. I hope it plays as well. Still waiting on the FT-9 tour head. Should be next week. (cool)

Received my shaft today, too...

FT9 Tour head here tomorrow....

Shaft seems, by waggling. to feel firmer than Blueboard...wonder if it's due to butt stiffness or if just that firm?

Maybe plays to flex, any ideas? THe one I hit months ago at Cally demo thing seemed to play to flex, maybe just not used to feel, or getting old...

Most likely this is due to the profile, I see you have a blue and red board. I have both of those and when I changed to a white it def felt stiffer to me at first.

Thanks, LSeca. I imagine you're correct. The Redboard flex profile and 73g waggles pretty stiff, the Blueboard is just butter, so I'm probably just not used to flex profile.

Head arrives tomorrow, I'll likely play Sunday, I'll let you know how it goes. Good thing I have backups :good:
