Teardrop Putters

i am not very familiar with these putters so I am hoping I can get some good insight from those that have had these putters. I seen one in a used golf store today and it just got my attention. I know these putters are not made anymore but this putter looked like it was basically brand new. It was a Teardrop Roll Face TD Select 411. Has anyone used this putter before and what is your opinion on it. The asking price for it is 70 bucks. Seems kind of step for a used putter that is no longer made but again it looks as though it is brand new.

the club pro at my course uses an old Teardrop putter. that thing is all beat up and crusty looking but he is money with that thing. not sure which model it is though. round face, gold colored head

In my opinion the TD42 was the best they ever made. It also looks great in righty. ;)

Still can't believe I sold mine for $15 and it was in 9/10 shape.

I had one that I loved when i was younger, but we coulsn't put any more shaft extentions in it so I had to give it up.

Didnt Fred Couples use a TD at one point?

I also believe the Milled Tear Drop putters were milled at Bettinardi's shop before it was Bettinardi.

Yes, he had a deal with them. I think he also played the TA 845 irons when Teardrop bought the name.

OP, sorry everyone has gotten off your question... Anyways, I have this model. IMO, $70 bucks is a steal. I have 5 other TD models. I love them. I have never found another flatstick that puts as good of a roll on the ball as TearDrop does, and believe me, I've tried everything. I game a Rife just because of the weighting, but really, I wouldn't hesitate on this stick. Good luck...

They are great putters. I still have one in 'the pile'. Depending on the shape, $70 may be appropriate, but it sounds a bit too high. It'd have to be practically new.

I'd say 70 is pretty high, I bought one for 15 about 10 years ago a td select 11.

I used it a long time, but I don't really like it. Moved on to some snake eyes models that I much prefer.

I'd say there is better stuff out there, especially at the $70 range (ebay, bst etc)

I have just bought a [b]Teardrop [/b]off of EBay for £20.

Looks brand new, but there is no model number - a black putter that has the rounded face and an uncomplicated rectangular shape with 'TEARDROP' written on the base.

My Pro cut down the shaft to "33 and gave it an inaugural 18 holes today and it is WONDERFUL!

I forward press big-time prior to taking the putter away and delofting is a massive problem to me .. this putter over comes that as there is no straight face to deloft!!!

WHAT A DAMN GOOD IDEA AND WHY IS NO OTHER MANUFACTURER TAKING THIS DESIGN INTO THEIR RANGE.

No 3 putts and several 20 footers canned.... nice !

I own a TD 411. I bought it brand new about 2 years ago -- $40 at Golfsmith in Columbus OH. So to me, $70 sounds a little high. The ball comes off the face of this putter nicely. It has little offset. Also, it is light weight. But if that is a problem, the old lead tape trick will work. I think this is an excellent putter for fast greens. I have found I have real good speed control with this putter. I did take off the original grip and put on a Winn -- just personal preference. If you like a basic, straight-forward, no-frills putter, this is a good choice

I've had the TD15 since about 2001. It rotates in and out of the bag with a number of other putters, but none of my putters have the feel of the Tear Drop. I'd like to find the TD42, but those are really rare. I just bought a TD17 and plan on putting the Tear Drops up against a new Taylormade if it ever stops snowing. As I recall these retailed for $120.00 10 years ago. I bought mine for like $50 new from Golfsmith. Best putter for the money I've ever had. Got the TD17 for $30.

I picked up a Tear Drop TD-17 for 20 bucks! This putter feels like BUTTER! It looks to be 100% milled and has a nice Black finish on it. It feels like Carbon steel, but I am not sure. It reminds me a lot of the Bettinardi CB-2 Mizuno putter. It sure rolls the ball well.

Can anyone tell me a little about the TD 17 model?

Great putter, and can be had for great value still, if you know where to look for. I maybe looking for different style to improve my putting skills even more. I know, it's not the arrow, its the Indian...but I like how it feels.

Funny how this thread came up when doing some tear drop review search, and you commented after 4 years of "snooze"

Your putter looks fantastic.

Do you still play with it? If you played other putters, how do you compare?

Mine is all dinged up and stuff around, but face is still in good shape.
