I don't even need to read the rest of the thread... The above quote relays my exact sentiments. I'm getting out of this thread now before I actually do add up the cost of my bag. I would probably puke if I saw my actual number to be honest.

Before 2009 I probably spent maybe $1k on clubs since I started playing as a kid in the 80s. This year I got the 'ho' bug and its borderline shameful. I had a conversation with my girlfriend yesterday that included, 'if you buy those irons before i have a ring, i'll leave you'. I would've hit the 3k mark with you guys, but I kind of like her, so maybe next Christmas.

I guess and say most of that 300 was the oban, diamana and altus. I counted mine up earlier and it was around 1900. I was shocked, I felt like I always shopped around and got the best deals. Golf really [i][b]is[/b][/i] expensive. Can't imagine what I'd do if my bag ever got jacked.

I think my bag would cost about 6k+ to replace not counting the huge stash I have laying around haha. Shafts are worth way more than the 300 but luckily didn't have to buy any of them. Altus is a lime green one so it makes it extra pricey. I paid for the PNT2 head (way less than going rate) and the BTY Proto when they first came out. Got a new 3 wood and hybrid coming so it may go to a totally free bag soon

I don't think $1k is that much for a brand name bag - here's my bag right now and I got a lot of it cheaper than MSRP.

Driver - $120 for head, $100 for the shaft - $250
3 Wood - $90 for the head, $150 for the shaft - $240
Hybrid - $100
Irons - $300
2 Wedges - $150
Putter - $330

That totals almost $1200, not to mention about $100 for my bag itself.

Never had to calculate how much I've spent..damn golf is expensive!!!

If you're talking about retail cost I'm sure everyone is over 1K. If you're talking about what you paid or current market value, maybe not as many people unless you have some high end/tour issue equipment (driver/putter etc).

My bag is worth about $850 give or take but the retail cost is around $1,500

Before 2009 I would say I had less than a grand invested in my bag at any one time (i bought used irons most of the time). In 2009 I have currently more money in my bag than I care to add up. This year I bought new irons, new driver, new 3 wood, 2 new wedges, a new used putter (still expensive) and another shaft (fubuki) for the R9. My wife would go nuts if she realized how much I have spent, but that's between you and me!

My bag alone is worth 1K, I sold six on eBay and privately to collectors (4 international, 2 US) for 1K - 1.5K.

I shaft my own clubs, get KBS shafts wholesale, and have a friend who's a liquidator of name brand stuff, so I've been able to save that way.
