Inexpensive wedges

You know what's a pretty darn good set, these:

 

 

I think they're $100 for all three (52, 56, 60). They set up well, have a nice look at address, weigh a fair amount, and have a wide flat sole that's fairly playable.

 

I was VERY impressed with what you get for the money with these wedges.

 

I concur about adams wedges..

 

I used to have Tom Watson chrome wedges 56* and 60*..

They are great wedges. They will rip your balls, I swear they have U-grooves..

I saw Hogan wedges at Dick's for $59.

Tour Edge Bazooka is a great club. I bought a SW for $40 and have played great with it. It has good spin control and a great feel.

I got the set of Adams wedges with an adams putter for $45. 2 were barely used, the others new. You can find these for great deals, especially on ebay.

 

Havent used them yet so I cant say how they perform, but from what everyone says, they are great.

buy a wedge from Golfsmith and whack them in.. 20+ dollars...

 

Tried the Golfworks... but still feel Golfsmith ones is a touch nicer.

At dicks sportting goods theres a deal for buy one get one free maxfli a10 wedges for about $60 bucks

 

 

 

Thats what I did and then I had another 10 dollar coupon so I got them really cheap. There great wedges but I would recommend the adams over the maxfli a10s. I have a friend who has the gun metal set and I like them alot more then my maxlfi wedges, I like the finish and the feel of the wedge more.

You can pick up the non gunmetal Adams sets of 3 on rockbottomgolf.com for $59.99 whic to me is a steal, they also have crazy low prices on a set of Mac Burrows wedges.

 

One ebay a great deal is a set of DeLaCruz Wedges which can be found for about $200.00 for set of 3.

If you can get your hands on any of the Founders Club forged wedges, they're great for the price.

 

From what I have been told, these are the "original" Vokey wedges, as he was a former clubmaker at Founders before he was swept up by Titleist. I'm not 100% certain it's true (the part about the wedges being his design...the fact that he worked at Founders is a well known fact), but the clubs are strikingly similar...and the founders wedges are a fraction of the cost.

Just find any good hole in the wall local golf shop with a used selection. Luckily I have one by my house that has almost every name brand wedge you can think of in many lofts/bounces and finishes. They're all priced the same and prices mostly just range in condition. I think the most expensive/nicest ones are around $40 (clean Cleveland CG14, SM Vokeys etc) but most average stuff like the Cleveland CG10/11, Nike SV, are only $25-30. You could easily get a premium 3 wedge set for $100. They even had a Solus 7.1 gap wedge for $45 in pretty good shape.

 

If anyone is in the DFW area, I'm talking about Lou's Golf in Carrollton off Frankford.

I'd suggest some used 588s, or CG10s if you're okay with the way they feel. I've played both and like them, and they come in all kinds of configurations and finishes. Resale value has really fallen off the cliff...

Bridgestone WC and LC wedges can be had on ebay for great prices - the LC are spin milled and raw. I took out the 60 last weekend and was impressed.

The macs at rock bottom along with the tw7s for $40 are great deals right now. The new watson oil can wedges look pretty decent. If you're willing to build your own, you can build some good stuff for fairly cheap (maltby, snake eyes).

You can get top-end wedges -- sometimes with very little use -- on eBay, for a song. I bought both of mine (Pings -- blue dot no less; see below) on eBay, each for under $60. And I sell the wedges I've gotten and abandon, for even better (had a couple up there now for $50 BIN).
