Titleist 910 vs Callaway Razr Hawk

Recommended Posts

We were playing a fourball the other day, 3 of us (handicaps scratch, 2 and 3) who normally have a game together once a week and another guy who I had never met before (2 handicap) he was using a Callaway Razr Hawk 10.5 with the stock Aldila RIP in stiff flex. Now this guy was not a big man, in his mid fifties but he was just killing this thing. I had played steadily on the front nine, gradually getting more into the groove as the round went on. By the back nine I was hiting my driver (Titleist 910 D2, 8.5 Stiff RIP) as well as I could. On 13 I asked this guy if I could have a whack with his Razr. Hit my drive with my 910, real nice drive, then hit one with the Razr and smashed it 20 yards further (and it was into a stiff breeze) than the drive with the 910. Hit the Razr side by side on 3 more holes and all were longer by a minimum of 10 yards. They were flying at the same trajectory as the 910 even though it was 10.5 loft. Really impressed by this driver. Never ever been a Callaway fan, always had TM back in the day but moved away from them in the last few years. Last great driver produced by TM was the Superquad TP.

Any of you guys tried the Razr and if so what were your reults.

May pull the trigger on this driver as it was a real bomber and so easy to hit.

I love my RHT 8.5* with a PX 7.0 (Callaway installed). I had not played Callaway drivers for over 3-4 years and have been playing Adams equipment for the last 2-3 years. This club is 20-30 yards longer than either of my Adams drivers, and just feels great when the ball comes off the face. I have finally found a driver that gets my spin rates below 2500. I have hit all the major offerings for 2011 and the RHT beat them all hands down.......Great club. Just FYI I liked the club with the stock RIP shaft but my spin rates were too high. I am so glad I opted for the PX shaft, it is a phenomenal club..longest driver I personally have ever hit

My ball speed numbers were consistently higher and my trajectory was better with the RHT, the only club that surpassed it was the Superfast 2.0 tp

I've always had a TM driver in the bag but the Razr is just as long as the SF2.0 and much more forgiving. I have a 10.5 with the stock stiff Aldila shaft, had it trimmed down 3/4" to play at 55 1/4. I gained around 10-12 yards and the accuracy and feel is great with this club. I'm not a big Callaway fan but they did right with this club.

Well I ended up buying the Razr and played 18 holes yesterday. I have been playing my local course here in Thailand 4-5 times a week for the last couple of years and yesterday my drives (on 4 different holes)were in places that I had never driven before. Absolute ripper of a driver and straight too. Very impressed.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Razr hawk is 46" while the D2 is 45". His also had 2* more loft, and almost all golfers (even WRXers) would do better with a higher lofted driver.

It's a case-by-case situation. I demo'ed the RHT and D3 head-to-head and got better numbers with the D3.

I can't give a fair comparison to the Titleist 910. All I can say is the Razr is an outstanding driver. Easy to hit, good sound, good feel off the face, and longest I've ever hit. I got fitted at a Callaway Demo Day hitting it side by side with my Adams Fast 10. I wasn't even looking for a driver that day, but the results were a no-brainer for me.

Razr hawk does have a hot face but I still like the looks, sound, and feel of my D3 much better.

I had a bad experience hitting the Callaway Razr Hawk tour driver 10.5 with stock RIP shaft (S). Everyone said it is low spin blah, blah, blah.. but I hit nothing but moon balls with it during a demo day last month. When I got home from the demo day, I still wonder if the balls have come down yet

It does have a good feel, but the RIP shaft is too weak for me. For stock offerings the 910 is a better driver and the adjustability is a bonus. The 910 also feels more solid and sounds good, easier to control and better ball flight with the retail stock offering

I agree with you on the RIP shaft, but that is why I had mine custom made with a PX 7.0 shaft. I have always been a high spin player, rarely ever getting below 3000 rpm's of spin. With this combo I avg right around 2200 based on launch monitor numbers. I personally thought the stock RIP shaft did not feel that good, but the PX shaft in this head is awesome.

Had a non tour Razr Hawk and the thing was a bomber but with the square face I just kept hitting balls left. My 910d3 isn't as long, but it's long enough. And it's straighter (for me) than the Razr.

You're so right, I'm in the market at the moment for a new driver and spent one hour lately on a lauch monitor. D2 on proforce v2 76 S comes with the best numbers for me.

My actual driver (until next week) is a FT-5 on pro-launch blue and I thought I would go with another Callaway. But numbers are numbers and the ball goes higher faster with a 910 head than on Razr. Plus, I have much less side spin with Titleist and I want to go for a 45" shaft.

I mainly look for consistency and less dispersion as possible on miss hits, that's the most important for me.

The good thing is that there is one best driver for each of us, and that's very cool !!

My Razr Hawk Tour is consistently 25-30 yards longer than my R11 TP. I've swapped shafts in my R11 and everything, and it's just hard to explain why. But it is.

i hope everyone who gets on a launch monitor goes out and plays the clubs side by side on the course as well. in my experience launch monitor numbers and on course performance are not always equal.

I would stick with the tour if that is what you have. The big difference will be that the RHT is one inch longer than the FT-9. Also, the head feels a little lighter to me. Once you get used to it..........bombs away. I saw parts of the course I haven't seen since I had no clue and swung for the fences with my ping TISI. I usually short hop the net at the back of my range with a good FT 9 drive. After I got the hang of the Razr Hawk, I flew it a few times. ANd I really liked my FT-9. ONly reason I switched was that the Imix shaft got stuck in the head somehow.

The Callaway Razr Hawk is just a beast! It's longer than my R11 even at 45 inches but I got the R11 for free so I can't pass that up. I'm thinking of making the switch though.

I have both a 910D2 with Ahina 72 in x flex 9.5 degree.

i have the cally in 9.5 degree also with a px 7.0 shaft.
The 910 is a betting feeling club and I am more consistent with it. The ball flight is to high for me.
The cally is a a weapon and is easily 10 yards further on every drive. The flight is ok but control is nowhere near as good as the 910. I now have a 8.5 titleist on the way for a further test. As i stated earlier the 910 had way more control and I was just hitting it to high. The 8.5 910 will have the rip 70x shaft, so I will be able to do some mix and matching and find the best combo for me.

If you want to hit it long grab the Callaway, If you want control the 910 is where its at.
