NOT SURE WHY THERE MARKETING CAMPAINGNS DRIVE ME NUTS SO MUCH....I GUESS BECAUSE IT IS SO IN YOUR FACE AND INSULTING THAT THEY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THEIR CLAIMS OF YARDS GAINED YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT.
I think you need to understand their claims.....in order to believe them or not. are not claiming that EVERYONE will gain 17 yards if the use the RBZ. They are claiming that the 17 yards will be gained by "*Better player claim against Burner 11 fairway, robot testing at 150mph ball speed, total distance." Further - they are claiming that the majority of the players, who game FWs older than 2 years (not WRXrs) will gain that.

Nowhere do they say, EVERYONE GETS 17 Yards....

Bose makes a lot of great products, and as far as noise canceling headphones, are rated at the top of anything in the market (just check cnet or try them for yourself). Some companies spend more money on R&D then others spend, and if it creates a uniquely designed product, it's worth the price.

I just got a TM 200 Series Steel 3 wood for $1.74 on eBay (local pickup, so that was actual price).

Think I'll stick with that since I think the company is a total scam. Also, thanks to all of you who waste your money on all their gimmicky hyped clubs every year as I'm pretty much technology maxed about a good decade ago and can now be had for mere dollars. :)

The only improvements in golf equipment that has happened since then, IMO, has been in balls.

This club does offer a small benefit to golfers with a high swing speed. Slower swinging, weekend-warrior hackers......not so much.

Nothing wrong with those 200 series woods that's for sure..........especially for a buck seventy four.

similar tag lines, but not really a rip off. i think people are more excited about the fairway woods, which are just a simliar concept to the adams clubs that were out long before these. jmo

+1 I said the same thing to my father-in-law just the other day. Adams had that "speed cavity" or what ever they called it. Just goes to show you it's all in the name. Adams does it it's a gimmick TM comes out with it and its the next best thing since sliced bread. With that said, I do love there drivers and I have an R11 in my bag.
I recall everyone on here and around the golf community or stores claiming the Adams fairway woods being longer than life. I can buy a new one now at Kingdom 59.com for $89 each.

+1. Gotta say ... I've tried some of their stuff ... not a single club or ball has ever made it into my bag. I see them more as a marketing company instead of an actual golf company. (WHITE clubs? give me a break.)
exactly. I've hit the r7, r9, r11 and now the RBZ and different models of each. I've also hit multiple sets of their irons. All at demo days at my club (with the exception of the RBZ which was at golf galaxy). I didnt like the feel of any of them. The MB's almost made it to my bag but I decided to wait till titleist came out with the 712s... glad I did

Funny that you say this because TM already has the next generation of the RBZ in the works. One of the reps noted that when TM finally evolves the slot technology, they're claiming that 23 yard gains are possible.
Their way of fully evolving the slot is adding the slot to the top of the club... Adams Golf anyone?

OP, take solace in the fact that Callaway has a new commercial with Tommy Two-Gloves doing a mock TM/Rocketballz "wink and smile" as he hits shots between casino rooftops. Thought it was a nice dig at the TM marketing foolishness.
Wait a minute.

So a company that for all intents and purposes is trying to pick itself up off the mat, because their marketing is freaking terrible, is taking shots at the biggest golf company on earth? LOL

Not to mention the Las Vegas commercials are more flashy than anything TM has put out.

Threads like this kill me. Half the features on cars nowadays for example are stuff that was invented and stolen, or slightly changed. Nobody cares. If it's not patent infringement, it's not illegal. TM created adjustable weights, adjustable hosels, white heads etc etc and other companies follow, but they get no slack for it... Why the double standard? I guess everyone likes a ride on the bash TM bandwagon.

Cobra had the first white driver but unfortunately for them, they do not know how to market.

I know all the "hype" that goes with advertising, but when I take MY Burner 3 wood and a couple of sleeves of the balls I regulary use and hit it against the RBZ 3 wood on a monitor...and GAIN 21 yards...then go out on the course and have the SAME results...it ain't "hype" to me.

Yeah, well, the problem with that logic is that, if you've followed their marketing propaganda for the last decade or so, EVERY YEAR they claim their "new" model(s) carry 10, 15, 20 yards farther than last year's.

So by that logic, shouldn't these "new" RocketBallz 3 woods be putting it out there 350 yards or so?

Yeah, I call total BS, and since I'm not gullible (and was a college student up until last year, thus never had a load of throw away cash) I've never and will never buy into a fraudulent company like TM's BS and their line of marketing propaganda.

Is their stuff from a decade ago still some of the best that has ever been made, and better than comparable companies' stuff? Yes. Are their products today infinitely better than the stuff they were doing around the turn of the century? Absolutely NOT.

But go ahead on and buy their "new" stuff every year, and five or so years from now I'll just pick it up off the 'Bay for a fraction of the price, and still will be a single digit player. welcomeani.gif

I get why a 3 year old fairway compared to the new rbz design in a 13 degree 3 wood picks up 17 yards when getting the spring effect that a pro would get because of their high clubhead speed while hitting it directly on the sweet spot.... whoo, that was a large disclaimer.... but what I don't get is how TM seemed to translate this into their drivers in the publics eye. Anyway, TM makes some great products, and if you're willing to play last years model you can save a ton and have some really nice stuff.

All of their products distort sound to make it seem like it sounds better. "Fraudulent"? Pretty strong language. Every golf manufactuer makes claims regarding their products. And while you may get by very well with technology that is five years old youare mistaken if you don't think technology has improved during the last five years. You are certainly entitled to your opinion but why the hate? Now that you are out of college have you ever thought about anger management classes?

Peace

I'm not saying they make the best headphones for reproduction purposes, but the point of the post is in response to someone saying TM is like Bose, and again, just because a brand markets itself in that manner, doesn't mean it produces products designed to trick customers. By the way, customer reviews are similar to professional reviews on the bose headphones, they really do active noise canceling better then anything else out there. If you know of a better pair, let me know because I'm in the market.

By the way, I think it's a little rude to say something like "You appear to be an Apple fanboy so it might be hard for you to comprehend".... but I understand what you were saying. I think there are nicer ways to say it, and you should be careful to not accidentally start and pc vs mac flame war. If you must know, I work on both PCs and MACs every day. I work on both iPhones and Androids every day. I work with both Linux and Windows servers every day. And considering the success I've had with technology based professions, I wouldn't consider myself as someone having an inability to comprehend.

I think TM uses cheesy marketing tactics that nearly overshadow the quality of their products. That's my opinion, but it wouldn't stop me from using them if I find they work the best for me. I'm glad you like your rocketballz and I hope you enjoy it longer then the product will be made.

All quality companies. Not just marketing. They are the "gold standard" except TM

Quality companies but Bose and Monster are not making better products for what they charge. Bose would be even less quality for more money. Great companies because they market well and have great design depts.

Similar to Tempurpedic.

Great marketing, and branding. Extremely sub-par products and construction.

Gotta love a thread like this. Nothing like someone complaining about a certain company to get everyone all riled up. I've personally never owned a TM club, and probably never will. Same goes for Adams, who's fans IMO are as strong worded and confident in their products as the TM fans. Everyone knows Nike was the first company to market the slot/channel/whatchmacallit, and its a fairly well proven fact that it can make clubs hotter, but no where near as hot as claimed in ads by manufacturers who's sole objective is to sell more clubs. You have to give a nod to the TaylorMade marketing department who has clearly hit a home run with both the "RocketBallz" and the white clubheads. Love 'em or hate 'em, they still sell more drivers than any other company, every year, like clockwork. I however, will never own one until I can customized the color however I want. Give me a blue driver and then we'll talk ;)

Fair enough. Get yourself a good pair of IEMs that give you a nice snug fit. I'm not a headphone junkie by any means and if you are going to go off consumer reviews, well I can't help you. Most people think Bose is amazing because they don't actually know what they are hearing and what they are supposed to be hearing. Ask them how can a 2" midrange driver and a tiny little subwoofer reproduce the entire sound frequency and they will look at you like you are speaking Alien. ;)

TM and Apple are very, very similar from a marketing standpoint. I have no problem with that at all. They sell the most and offer a good product. Nothing wrong with capitalism. :D

I AGREE WITH THE TM MARKETING HYPE. TO ME, THEY ARE QUALITY BUT NO MORE SO THAN THE OTHER MAJOR OEM'S. THE REASON THEY ARE THE #1 DRIVER ON TOUR IS BECAUSE THE PAY THE MOST TO DO SO. AS STATED, NIKE AND ADAMS ALREADY HAD THEIR VERSIONS ON THE SLOTS/CHANNELS IN THEIR CLUBS. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF TM MARKETING MACHINE THE AVERAGE PERSON WOULD THINK THEY THOUGHT UP THIS TECHNOLOGY.

I LIKE THE TM DRIVERS AND FIND THE MOVEABLE WEIGHTS FOR ME WORK BETTER THAN THE DRIVERS WITH ADJUSTABLE HOSELS (NIKE, TITLEIST, COBRA, ETC) SO I HAVE BEEN USING THEIR DRIVERS THE LAST FEW YEARS.

NOT SURE WHY THERE MARKETING CAMPAINGNS DRIVE ME NUTS SO MUCH....I GUESS BECAUSE IT IS SO IN YOUR FACE AND INSULTING THAT THEY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THEIR CLAIMS OF YARDS GAINED YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT.

Thefunny thing is if you put the RBZ driver next to an 07' Burner you will see that it is just a rehash of that old driver with new graphics and an adjustable hozzlel.

BTW, there was nothing wrong with the '07 Burner. TM sold lots of them.
