The Vibergs make my Indy boots look cheap. They're awesome, but the only reason I own them is because I got lucky when they released some new stock. They're really hard to get a hold of.

That is what I wanted to hear. Trying to get a sense of how much difference there is between the alden and viberg in terms of quality of finish. I guess I should have been more specific when I linked to those. My Indy's are in the dark brown chromexcel and actually really love those black Vibergs. If I didn't already have the Indy's, I would probably go with a similar color on the Viberg's. Something I will think about for a bit regardless as its an expensive decision.

If you do get them, go for the same size as your Indy boots, provided they fit well.

Dam, those Viberg's are SICK...as far as the quality of the OSB's go I have a pair of the trench boots and after wearing them sparingly for 5 or 6 times the finish was coming off in certain places. OSB said it was typical but they took it back and had Horoween work on them and reoiled them. Dam comfy, and I understand a finish coming off eventually, but for the price you should be able to wear it more than a handful of times before that happens.

Eventually, but honestly you're better off going with a MTO from Rancourt or one of Alden's runs.

Straight dumb luck and a quick trigger finger are needed to score Vibergs.

Rancourts look a little chunky to me in pics but maybe it's just pics? J crew has some alden natural cap toes that I'm really trying to resist.

Just grabbed a pair of AE boat shoes for the summer/casual wear. They are hands down the most comfortable pair of boat shoes I have owned (not a huge boat shoe guy typically but have had a older pair of AE's and a couple different pair of Sperry's). The sole on them is veyr similar to the sole you will find on Nike Free's. The shoes look a bit different than normal boat shoes but I personally think they look better. Unfortunately my hideous golf shoe tan makes me look like I'm rocking white socks with them lol.

On another note, you may recall a few months ago I picked up that pair of Clark Streets by AE. They have quickly become my favorite pair of AEs. As they broke in they have become very comfortable. The Dainite sole is a great touch for a casual shoe that I truck around town in. They also look great, I don't think the pictures I posted did them justice as I was wearing a more boot cut denim with them. I love the Clark Sts with different colors Chinos and a slimmer leg opening and lighter denim.

I'll be interested to hear how the AE boat shoes hold up. I got a pair of Sperry's last fall that are already falling apart, which is seems to be a common issue these days with them. Nothing like they used to be.

Anyhow, I've been thinking about gifting myself a newer nicer (long term) pair for the upcoming bday. Was looking at Quoddy, Rancourt, and Oak Street. Although the reddit comparison Bjackson posted moved OS down the list.

I bought some of those AE boat shoes last year, but had to return them because they weren't sized right. Went into the AE store and basically they didn't make a pair of boat shoes that fit my feet properly- the last was all wrong. I wear 13 Wide or 13EEE pretty much anywhere, but theirs were too long in the toe with 13 EEE and too narrow with 12 EEE. So I got Sperrys instead.

Ecco, I own several pairs of their dress shoes and they are hands down the most comfortable I have owned. I have a few Allen Edmonds in the mix as well but tend to favor the eccos for long days.

My Allen Edmonds Fifth Street boots. Love 'em so much, I'm considering getting another pair in black. Gotta straight-lace them as well. Hope they break-in quickly...

I've seen a lot of dark Color #8 and these are by far the lightest shade, which is great because they'll only get lighter. +20 for the Commando sole, which is a lot stronger than it looks. Time will tell but I think it's a tall order to beat Dainite though.

The commando sole is awesome. Leffot has a pair of brown Alden boots for presale with the commando sole and was debating between those or the indy style. $20 extra is well worth it. Is that something they added on or was part of the shoe already?
