Picked up a pair of Havana Joes-

Nice looking and well made,

Where do they fall in the spectrum?

Run of the mill or better?

Thanks much

Have a great week :)

Where did you get them?

I bought a pair of heavy 3/4 boots over 8 years ago and they are still killer. They must be made of like mamoth leather and made by magoc shoe elves.

I have trudged through years of heinous NYC dirty snow and slush, shovelled tons of snow at my folks upstate. Warm, bulletproof, never did anything to them and they are still perfectly structured and look great.

Thought they went out of business. Don't see them anywhere.
[/quote]At Gordon's in Pittsburgh. Granted it's Pittsburgh, though they are the too shoe store in town. They had them on clearance for $125 and as I've got the same model boot/shoe in AE and CH, this leather was much thicker, softer and they just had a nice look to them. They had maybe 6-8 pairs left and said that they wouldn't be carrying them any more.

Comfortable boot. I like the flexibility of wearin em with jeans or khakis.

Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

Have a nice week end

My Best,
Richard

What's your opinion of the Jcrew Alden shoes? Are these just co branded Alden's? Any difference between the 2?

I have a pair of cordovan Alden cap toes from 20 years ago and they have held up so well and I'm looking to get another pair of Alden's. Seems jcrew has a nice small collection including the Indy boots. Curious if anyone has comments or has gone this route.

No difference at all.

Alden does "collaborations" with virtually all of their retailers, most of which are actually nicer shoe makeups. You can find stock Aldens (basic bluchers, boots etc) at pretty much any location, but each retailer/dealer has their own signature models and does special makeups. The retailers submit a request to Alden for a makeup, Alden confirms, then delivers. JCrew actually has a few great makeups of their own, like the shell captoe boot.

This, for example, is not available as a stock model and can only be ordered through special makeups by a dealer:

  • 2 weeks later...

My Gustins came in and were painfully small. Turns out I have gigantic legs due to deadlifting.

A pair of MTO Rancourts are on the way soon....hopefully.

Just got the email--Gustin's are en route. Really excited to get them and will post a few pics since we also covered that topic here.

No new purchases for anyone??

Nothing new for me... I've been breaking in the Clark Streets. I really like them more and more. Very versatile shoe that looks good with everything. More simple look than most of my other shoes.

Leffot Tankers. I secured the last pair in 8.5D.

Are you my size? I might not keep them.

Got the Gustins in today and cold barely get them above the knee. No chance I could wear those. They are really nice, though.

Nice pick up, goose.

Is there a place to get replacement laces for the Indys?

I was lacing them up this morning and one of them just snapped. =( The lace looked frayed like it was slowly happening over the last few weeks, but I never noticed anything. I can get others, but I just really like the laces from the factory, especially the color.
