Rocketbladez tour

Has any one had a problem with the tour irons not going as far as their previous irons. I seem to have lost some distance, but I do not know if it is due to cold weather. I normally hit my 8 iron 150-160ish but for some reason I have been hitting it quite a bit shorter about 2 clubs shorter. I was curious if anyone else had this problem.

I might be 1 club shorter but that could be to working with a new swing. I was hitting a Callaway x-16 8 iron about 150 and it seems like I hit the tour 140. The nice thing is that most of the swings are relatively the same distance. I tried some different things in my swing last year and picked up the 10 yds but it made my swing much worse so now I working on other things and it seems I'm back to 140 for my 8 iron.

Yes, slotless irons (8-PW and the A wedge) were all about a club to a club and a half shorter than my previous sets. I traded mine for the AP2's.

There was a thread on here last week that went on for a few pages in regards to the same thing with the Rocketbladez Tour. http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/811451-rbladez-tour-players-who-were-playing-forged-irons-any-misgivings/page__p__6643073__hl__+rocketbladez

depends which irons your coming from? If your coming from something like the burner 2.0's you will most likely be a bit shorter due to the shorter shafts and the relaxed lofts in the tour irons. I would look more for consistancy and if thats fine and you still cant get use to the distance go get the heads bent 2 strong, just make sure you keep the gapping consistant

You guys are really losing distance with these?
I was really shocked. I wanted to love em, but I sold em. Long and mid irons were great. Short irons were 2 clubs short of what Im used to. I hit my wedge around 135, and with the RBZ tours, was hitting 8 iron from there and coming up short. Tried them for 3 weeks, but just couldnt figure them out.

I couldn't have said it any better! I was averaging 130 with my 8 iron, so confused. The weird thing is my 9-iron was about 120ish and my PW was 110ish but my A was 80ish. I've never had distance weirdness like this before.

The long and mid irons are awesome but the short irons is what made me exchange them for a new set and settled on an entirely new brand, Titleist AP2's (cool)

Look, I feel like and sound like an anti-TMaG guy when that is the opposite as I've gamed nothing but TMaG irons for the past 7 years, loved my TM MC's. I highly doubt this is a flaw in their design or maybe it is, maybe because they used softer metal on the slotless irons and over-tech'd the slotted ones with a stronger metal or maybe not? But... I hear a lot of good things about them as well, maybe there are a few sets out there that are bad? I don't really know the answer to this. All I am saying is the distances were wacky for me even AFTER I was fitted for them. If you have a chance to try them out on the course I recommend doing so before buying to make sure.

Bought a set of these on impulse and went to Golfsmith to demo them before the clubs arrived. I just didn't have any consistency, like most have said the long irons are great with higher ballflights and more distance but I was hitting 6 & 7 iron too close together and 8&7 too far apart. I will be sticking with my Adams CMB's.

I had callaway x-16's off the rack reg shaft. I went to project x 95 6.0 in the tours and I think the shafts are just a tiny bit shorter than my old ones. I was fitted for the tours and really like the consistency. I am working my way into a new swing and when I went to Golf Galaxy to hit the two against each other, it says that I'm longer with the tours by 8 yds. That is why I believe that mine has more to do with new swing than change in clubs.

To the players who lose "2 clubs" or around there of distance on your short irons,

can you give us the Lofts of your previous set and the comparable Loft of the Bladez Tour iron you're hitting?

In other words, Are you guys going from jacked lofts to traditional lofts in the short irons?

TM MC's here

http://www.taylormadegolf.asia/vn/tourpreferred-mc-specifications.php

If anything I would have expected a slight small increase in distance vs the MC's

I found mine to be extremely short with the stock KBS Tour shafts. Since reshafting them with C-Tapers, they're the longest irons I've ever played. Stuck a 6 iron from 188 into a slight breeze last week. Hit a 9 iron pin high on a 160 yard Par 3 as well.

Went back to my CMBs. Lost 2 clubs distance in the short irons. Long irons are fantastic.
Similar results to this, the 8-PW did seem to be a few yards shorter (but not 2 clubs shorter or even a full club shorter for me), but the 3 and 4 irons were definitely longer.
These are comparing to the TM TP MC irons that I had before, which have the same lofts.

My tours have been great so far.....
No drop in distance, but a slightly larger spread in numbers.....Used to seeing a 10 yard gap, now more like 15.....No biggie, just different. The good news is, my numbers are relatively the same with my shorter irons, so no need for new wedge setup.

I went from the MC's to the RB tours and have had no problems. The only change I made was making the 8 thru AW 1 degree stronger on the advice from a Performance Lab fitter. He had mentioned that would keep the gaps more consistent. The RB tours have been about 5-7 yards longer per club with great ball flight. The only difference that I have noticed besides the distance gain is that the RB tours want to go straight, and are not as soft feeling as the MC's.

So coming from MC's to the Tours, which have equal lofts, there should be no way distance loss should occur. Right?

One would think. Shafts are going to be the factor.
