Hopefully this isn't a double post because I didn't see anyone post it, but what do you guys think about this? If it is true, that is pretty strange imo. It has to cost quite a bit unless he travels around with a set of furniture. haha

Funny thing is, comparatively speaking, there are many in this world that are richer than Woods. They probably have even "weirder" habits.

I read that ESPN article, it was pretty critical of Tiger, which isn't a first for Rick Reilly. I like how he adds in the "allegedly" instead of an actual source for this claim.

Being so close to April 1, I have no idea whether this is true. If it is, I would guess it's more about comfort than control. If you're playing for 1.5 million bucks, let alone golf history, you don't want to wake up with a stiff neck or back because the mattress is too soft or something. And as long as you're paying for a truck and movers for your bed, you might as well move in your favorite chair and other stuff along with it.

Rick Reilly has something negative to say about Tiger? I'm SHOCKED! The word "allegedly" ruined any value his article might have had. "I know a guy that knows a guy, that knows a guy..."

I bet his furniture guy makes a ton. Rich people do strange things and we shouldn't be shocked. Jerry Seinfeld bought a $20+ million house in the Hamptons, tore it down, and then rebuilt the house to the same specs it originally had because he didn't want to live in a house that someone else lived in.

I wonder if it's ergonomic?
Some of the patients where I work have to have special chairs and beds, mattresses etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he has custom designed pieces so it minimizes discomfort and can be manipulated to ideal positions to alleviate stress on different areas, the knee for example. It certainly is exotic to most, but if your body and your health translate to millions of income it's not unreasonable to invest and travel with ideal accommodations to preserve them.

I directly know people that rented their house to tour players for the pga championships at Whistling Straits and he didn't change the furniture he actually left them thousands of dollars worth of nike TW gear as a thank you for renting their house out. He also left a funny note that said

"thanks for the hospitality, you now get the international rugby channel for 2 years" -Tiger Woods

It's too bizarre to bring in his own furniture. Really odd article

Same, this story spread around here after the US Open at Oakmont in 2006. He rents a house during a major, moves some of the occupants stuff out for that week, puts his own furniture, then replaces everything before the owner returns. I think Reilly is overemphasizing how much he's actually moving though.

Tiger gets a new mattress if he rents a house and doesn't use a hotel, affairs and pancake waitresses jokes aside. I remember reading that years ago. It makes complete sense too. I know if I change mattresses I wake up with aches. That's the last thing you want as a professional athlete. If the mattress is too soft it wreaks havoc on my back.

Wasn't it at the Barclays last year where he had stiff back, and could barely pick up his ball? Blamed it on a soft mattress at a hotel. I could see after that making sure he always has the same mattress.
My guess is there is bits of truth, maybe furniture that has a little more support or something, but I doubt he has the whole house transformed. With his back and leg issues, he probably looks at an over-sized Lazyboy and shutters (which in turn leads to more injuries).

It's supposedly just for majors. Again, not that wild considering probably the majority of the Tour guys are renting houses during those weeks.
