I thought the Anser line was supposed to be the i20 replacement, their premium/better player wood line.

I don't know the release day, but yours truly broke the i20 photos the week before the 2011 Open Championship. Hopefully we will get pics again in 2.5 months. Felt like there was already tons of i20 speculation by this time though.

No the Anser is considered more premium than the i20 line.
Define premium - (I know what you mean)

Premium in this case just means expensive. Not necessarily more desirable or better performing. Overwhelmingly much more adoption on tour with the i20 than the Anser. Also heard from our PING rep that the i20 is a lower spinning head. But that also is not a good/bad thing. Just different.

The i20 irons would be selling well but the woods aren't. Which is kind of Pings own doing by releasing the Anser.

When you look at the prices the woods have been heavily discounted and the irons only a small drop. Looking forward to see what the line up will be like. With the Anser woods you'd think Ping doesn't need to make i25 woods, just irons and hybrids.

Look for a May 2013 release for the i25 irons.

What? His would break their product release cycle in a big way. Can we get your source?

Curious about the i25 woods, I would personally say just make the irons. I owned an i20 driver, 3 wood, and 3 hybrid and do not have any of them any more. Have an Anser driver now and it's much better than the i20. Would like to see an i series line up that competes with the anser line instead of just fitting very few people. Have the i20 irons now and I'm excited for what's next in that department.

It seems somewhat pointless for an i25 line of woods. The Anser driver is already aimed toward low spin, and the G25 toward forgiveness, so that covers 95% of golfers anyway.

But I'd like to see a new ultra-forgiving K25 line of woods though.

Your source is wrong. Nome TR was released yesterday, so that is pretty easy to predict. Everything else is pure speculation. And who is your PGA tour player? Last I recall, I didn't see any of those guys in sales or marketing meetings.

Got the TGW.com catalog yesterday and the i20s were not listed in the Ping spread. Could be indicating a phase-out...

The NOME TR was announced yesterday though it won't be available in stores until mid may as stated by the source above. Let's not get into a debate about which source is right or wrong. Unless anyone can provide hard evidence one way or another, we can't prove who is right or wrong. Speculation is what this board is all about.

I mean, I like golf balls
but not that much.
I've always questioned the K woods. How much more forgiveness needs to be added to a 460cc long-tailed, super-high MOI G25 bulb? If someone has trouble finding the fairway with a G driver I don't think a different driver will be the magic solution.

It seems superfluous and unnecessary. If it possible to get more forgiving than a 10.5-12* G25 with a regular shaft?

But I'm not dismissing anyones desire for such a thing - just questioning the need for PING to spend the R&D on making something easier to hit than a G. And wondering if it's really even possible, or just marketing.
