  • 4 weeks later...

Just picked up some Rustique wedges from GG for cheap (almost bought the Gorges but saved quite a bit of $). These are by far my favorite wedges. 56 and 60ts. Solid. Great feel. Good distance. Chip, pitch, full swing. They felt great. I am not a club ho and havent bought a ton of wedges but I am replacing a CG12 and an older Vokey. The PINGs are far superior (but they should be considering how much newer they are).

Also, working on a full PING bag (been a goal since I was a teen)... just FYI. Unfortuantely, the TM hybrids/driver are having a tough time getting kicked out of the bag.

Bag:
Irons - PING i20s 4-U CFS Stiff
Wedges - PING Tour-S Rustique KBS Tour Stiff 56 and 60ts
Driver - R9 Stiff Stock
Hybrids - 2H and 3H Rescue 2009 Stiff stock

I play a PING G20 white dot +1/2" set and I need to get a new UW and SW. Any advice on whether I should stick with G20 or go with i20's? I have also heard that with wedges you should play a flater 'dot', meaning I should be at a green dot instead of a white dot with these wedges...is this true?

Anyone play or have thoughts on the complete set of G15 wedges (gap 50*, sand 54* and lob 58*). I have the G15 3 to W irons and like them, wondering if getting the G/S/L wedges with the same serial #'s would be a good purchase. Pros ? Cons ? thanks
[/quote]

I heard that they are great for full shots, not so much for finesse shots around the green (sand, flop, lob etc.)

I play Mizuno MP 68 irons and Tour S wedges. I can't find anything that performs better than the Tour S wedges. I get comments that my bag looks strange with blade irons and wedges that have a slight cavity - I don't care b/c the Ping wedges simply perform.

That's interesting. My irons are silver dot but I've always played wedges off the rack, not always Ping. In the pro shop today I was looking at Gorge wedges and the black dot set up just fine for me.

I bought a 56 SS and a 60 TS when I bought my i20 irons and I am going to migrate back to Vokey wedges. Both are cast wedges, but I feel as if the Vokey's have a better feel. Maybe it's the type of metal that is used or maybe it is in my head. Whatever the reason, I have already replaced the 56 and will soon replace the 60.

I play 54 and 58 iWedges and don't see that changing. Great wedges that would do well if they brought them back ala Eye 2XG

I used to carry the 48 M/B as that is what my PW from my S59s were. But now the PWs are so different now.. my 2013 Anser PW is 46.. which puts a big gap in my wedges...

so 46/52/56

I may have my clubs weakened loft wise.. to be more inline to what I am used to...

Eye2 XG are in the bag this year. Hit the ball incredibly high, have consistent distances and feel, surprisingly, good. Yes, they are pretty hideous to look at but the performance makes that tolerable.
