I came across a cracker mixed CD the other day....it's the soundtrack to life on mars tv show (the UK original was outstanding) and blasting out the 1973 hits of Bowie, T-Rex etc has been brilliant! Best part has to be the start of Dambuster with Gene Hunt saying 'hands up, you're surrounded by armed b*******s!!! And it's set in my hometown....so extra sentimental points too!

Watched this movie again the other night. Two days later, still unable to get the theme song out of my head. From the best "small" movie ever made:

I listen to a lot of stuff most golfers probably haven't heard of. While I grew up on the course, I also grew up in the skateboarding/underground local punk music scene. It's a very weird dichotomy, but I love it.

 

Anyway, just discovered this band. Sioux Falls, which are actually based out of Portland. Their debut album came out earlier this year, and it reminds me a lot of early Modest Mouse. Long, drawn out jams that blur the line of indie rock and emo.

After listening to I love to boogie on my way home tonight, just realised that it's part of one of my favourite film clips in Billy Elliot.....also him dancing to the jam (town called malice is a top tune) is worth a mention

I've been listening to the 40th Anniversary boxed set. Just great. Carniac's post reminded me of this song by Robert Earl Keen. If you haven't listened to any of his music, I would highly recommend. Been to countless concerts. No doubt my favorite.
