SEAMUS GOLF - Headcover Review

I have never been a big fan of OEM headcovers. Since I started playing 3-4 years ago, I don't know if I have ever used stock headcovers on my 3W or Hy. I don't know what it is, but I've always enjoyed a little bit of style and individualism that custom headcovers allow.

I have been through most brands with mixed results:

About a year ago, I started planning a trip to Bandon Dunes. I was hooked. I couldn't have been more excited. I read the book, Dream Golf, about the making of the property. I followed their social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram. About the same time, I saw a social media post by Bandon Dunes, and an acquaintance who works at TMaG, both featuring Seamus Golf headcovers. Then, Sports Illustrated joined the party.

I had never heard of the company but was immediately interested.

Seamus Golf is a wool accesories brand in Oregon. All of their products are designed, cut, sewn and packaged by hand. They use only 100% wool from mills in the local Pacific Northwest or United Kingdom.

I went on my much anticipated trip to Bandon Dunes over Thanksgiving weekend of 2014. All four of their amazing pro shops featured custom Seamus Golf pieces adorned with the logos from the Bandon Dunes courses. I wanted to buy each and every one of them! However, with Christmas approaching, I knew I would likely be receiving a new golf bag, and wanted to wait. After receiving an all-black Sun Mountain bag as a gift, I went out in search of the perfect headcover(s) to compliment my new gear!

I frequented Seamus' website many times. However, with hundreds of different tartans, I was torn. I wanted them all! While following their Instagram account, also I saw dozens of custom pieces they did for customers and golf clubs. One that caught my eye was a great little drawstring sunglasses pouch. I left a message on the Instagram posting and they soon replied. I was instructed to personally email for Customer Service Dept., and soon thereafter was talking to the Owner. Talk about service!

About two weeks ago, I settled on my order. I do not carry any hybrids, and I was reluctant to order a headcover for a driver as some aftermarket pieces for drivers I've found large and cumbersome. To test, I ordered a headcover for a 3W and requested a sunglasses pouch in the same tartan, Angus Muted.

At first, some might find their prices a little steep. However, I would say their right in line with most other aftermarket pieces I have had, whether wool or leather. For most, Driver is $65, while 3W and Hybrids are $55. Throughout my order process, I was kindly greeted by Customer Service staff and Owner. It was a very stress-free process with great communication throughout.

The product and packaging is even better than their service! I received my package last weekend and knew I had to share my experience.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase and look forward to many more Seamus products in the future.

Looks good! I love my driver headcover but it is a little tight on a G30. The fairway is perfect.

I don't like the hybrid headcovers near as much

Driver too tight on the G30? What don't you like about the hybrid?

The Driver is tight on the G30, it's not too tight --just kinda fits a little funny due to the long head, where as it is perfect on my SLDR.

I just like the look of the round barrel ones like the driver and fairway. The hybrid one looks more like a sock, if that makes sense.

The small hybrid headcover is definitely small. I wouldn't recommend it unless you wanted it for a driving iron or something.

I've also found that some of the tartans are thicker than others. I bought 3 out of the 4 I have at Bandon, all different colors.

Always liked the tartan and look of their head covers, but never pulled the trigger. I think I held off for functional concerns. #1 being they might fall off too easily. I almost always walk when playing, and without that knit or elastic bottom part that most head covers have, I just wondered if they'd be too top heavy and slowly slouch off. Is there any hidden elastic on the inside that keeps them on?

Good guess, there is an elastic band built into the into the interior of the headcover between the wool exterior and fleece interior. I didn't notice it until putting my hand inside. It's a great idea and keeps it in place very well.

Love the Seamus headcovers and story behind the company. I am considering one for my fairway wood later this year.

Great thread, as always bud. You must have been reading my mind as I've been browsing tartans on that website for the past 2 weeks trying to figure out what to pick for a driver and fairway cover to go with a new bag (red and navy) I just got...

Huge fan of Seamus head covers. Highly recommended. I have had numerous communications with co-owner Megan, and she could not have been more accommodating. Hope to see Bandon one day as well.

Seamus headcovers are awesome! I've ordered a bunch of them. The driver is the "Gunn Muted" tartan as my lady is from the Gunn clan. They are a perfect with the simplicity of the Jones players series #001 bag.

I am getting ready to place an order myself. My mothers side of the family is Irish but I am not sure which county they are from so I am probably just going order what looks good.

I got a chance to meet the people from Seamus at the PGA show. Great folks. Just like their products.

I have been thinking about it, but I can't decide. I have seen the driver headcovers in person, and they are rather large, which you can see in the photographs above. I guess they have to be to fit over 460 cc heads. I wish they could figure out how to make the bottom a little narrower (elastic). Also, I don't know what pattern I would get; I have considered the black/black Cordura.

Appreciate the response. I have also been contemplating one for my G30 driver as the OEM headcover is so big. The Cordura looks nice and is a bit more understated.

I will pile on. Seamus headcovers are great and the customer service cannot be beat. In addition to my driver and fairway wood, I have one of the patchwork putter covers. Currently sold out and admittedly will not be for everyone (blade and small mid-mallet only), but very secure and well made.

Their patchwork stuff looks awesome! I'm just too OCD to have that many patterns.

My new piece came in this afternoon.

Anderson (Modern) + red fleece lining + monogrammed tag.

I think it looks really good with my other tartan and the rest of the bag.

Now, decisions regarding the driver ...

Looks great! C'mon, now you have to ditch the OEM driver cover! One of these things just doesn't belong....

I know, I have been looking. I just can't find a tartan I like that would match. An all-black Cordura might be in my future.

When did you order? Mine took about 9 days from order to delivery. If you don't receive a tracking email within one week, give them a call and inquire. They have great customer service.
