Tour Aldila Rogue Black 110 MSI - Very Underrated

With how popular the Rogue line has turned out to be I thought I would find more information out there about the Tour Issue Rogue Black 110 msi. I find plenty on the rogue 125, but not the 110. I wasn't sure what to expect, but if Speith trusts it I'm sure it's good enough for a hacker like me.

I have a swing speed around 115 mph, I think I have a quick transition. My miss is left typically, a low snap hook.

I have recently used the following shafts.

Rogue 125 70 TX

GD AD BB 7X

GD AD DI 7X

Oban Kiyoshi White 75 05

They were all good shafts of course, but I wanted something that was mid launch low spin with great control. (accuracy was the most important thing)

The rogue 125 was too low for me, and I was hooking every shot way left. The bb 7x felt good, but I didn't love the dispersion. The ad di 7x seemed to have too high of flight when I stepped on it. The oban white just wasn't for me. Not sure why.

I liked the di 7x, but I wanted to try something else.The di 7x was my fall back plan.

I got my rogue black 110 70 Tour X on ebay (they are cheaper than the rogue 125) and put a titleist tip on it. My first shot with it was into a stiff 20 - 30 mph wind. I planned on hitting it a little low and to my surprise that's what happened. I was very surprised by the distance I got into the wind. Not wanting to get my hopes up I continued on wit the shaft. I had a lot of holes into the wind, but plenty across and with the wind as well. I was able to get the ball up when I wanted to, and keep it low when I needed to. But the flight overall was a piercing mid flight.

I am looking forward to more time with this shaft, but I think it is the mid flight with low spin shaft I wanted.

I know the tendency on here is the get the lowest launching shaft possible, and for some that's great. But I found much better distance and control with the rogue black 110 70 Tour X.

That all being said I just got a Kuro Kage XTS 60 X Flex on the way to test. I expect it to be a little lower launch.

How did the Black 110 feel compared to the others?

I've always thought that the Rogue Black, with it's softer tip, is probably a much better fit for the vast majority of the masses than the 125 MSI Rogue Silver.

I thought the Tour Silver was 125 MSI, the Silver was 110 MSI and the Black was 95 MSI?

If the OP's shaft says 110 MSI on it, I think Aldila calls it the "Silver".

It wasn't as soft as the ad di 7x, but it wasn't a harsh shaft by any means.

They do, it's tour only.

The tour rogue silver is 125, tour black is 110. Retail silver is 110, black is 95.

They all have different torque.

That's why I shared. It doesn't seem to be well known, but it should be considering it's performance (in my opinion of course)


I love shafts like the speeder tour spec, the matrix black tie, and others that are similar, but the rogue silver 125 was stiffer yet than those, which led me to the rogue black. The rogue black has a more similar torque rating as well. That's not the end all when picking a shaft, but I definitely look at it when looking at new shafts. (speeder tour spec 7.2 x = 3.0 / Rogue Black 110 msi = 2.8 / Rogue Silver 125 msi = 2.5)

Well... I for one did not like the 110 Black. I find that the Aldila Green ATX works better for me. The 110 black is sitting in my closet gathering dust right now. If there is anyone out there with a 125 Silver that would like to trade... let me know. I would like to try that one. PS: The shaft is brand new 65 TX with a TM tip on, and NDMC Whiteout White/Black grip. 44 7/8" playing length in R15.

I had my first go round with the XT 60x yesterday. Prepare to be very happy. Great feel, flat down range flight, and stupid straight. Great great shaft.

Well... here is what is odd... even though it has a softer tip, my launch was lower than with the ATX green, but spin was higher.

Anyone able to compare the 110 black to the 95? Really liked the feel of the 70s and am between s and x flex - wondering if the TS might sit between them and be a bit tighter?

I'm hoping the XT/XTS is similar to the rogue black 110 with lower ball flight, maybe in between the rogue silver 125 and rogue black 110. It's kind of crazy how popular the XT/XTS is on tour right now.

Has anyone tipped the Rogue Black 110 in driver? How does it respond to tipping?

I have tried it tipped 1" and 0". It responded very well, brought down the flight quite a bit and maybe a little less on the spin (eye test only) but I actually prefer it untipped. It just hits high bombs that are really straight and it still goes through the wind quite nicely.

My 110msi 60TX is tipped 0.5". Its perfect in my 915D2.

How did you ever workout with the 110 msi black?

Wow, your item list sounds like my living room...tried the BB 6x, DI 6x Tipped 0.5" and 1", Oban white 65 05, oban black 05 05. The BB for me has been the longest by a touch over the DI 6x, but my miss is left as well . My SS is a touch slower than yours at 110-112 but tempo is quick as well. I just picked up the rogue black 110 70 Tour X. I'm trying it for the first time tomorrow in my M1 (a new toy as well after gaming a D3 all of last year). I'm very psyched to try this out, especially with the slightly heavier weight and lower torque...could be just what my lefts need.

Did you find it longer and straighter than the tour AD DI or BB?

Thought I would bring this one back to life. I just picked up a black 110 80 tx and was thinking about putting it in my mini driver that I use as a 3 wood replacement. I am curious on what I should tip this? I have a rogue 125 tx in driver and it is not tipped.

So I had a very similar response. I had tested it side by side on a monitor against a tour ad di 6x and the rogue black 110 MSI 70x won in both distance and accuracy. However, when I got to the course this weekend, I was hitting the ball very high. I actually have not hit the ball this straight in years as I did this weekend, and I didn't lose any distance because I was hitting it where I usually hit it in the summer but it was only 40 degrees out and soft. My concern was it was very high, some very very high. Because I'm a true ho, this caused me to pick up the 125 MSI Silver 70x. I'll put them side by side, and see but it's good to know that some tipping on the Black could be an option as well if the silver doesn't launch high enough.

How different did you find the 110 black vs the 125 silver? I just ordered the 70x 125 MSI silver and have the 70x 110 MSI Black. I'll obviously test them but I'd be interested in hearing how it worked for you?
