You will NOT make every single putt, stop acting like you should. And there is NOT always a spike mark in EVERY one of your putts. I am trying to like this guy, and I get having some fire, but damn, this guy whines and slams his putter more than anyone on tour.

I'm surprised he didn't learn a bit more from his on course histrionics during the final last week. Over the first 6 or 7 holes he acted liked a stroppy teenager, and DJ handed him his ***. He then calmed down and got back in the match. Surely he must realise from that that he plays better golf when playing with a calm head?

Anyway, it looks bad, and I hate the way he blames his caddy for everything.. Some will give him a break and say that it's because he's Spanish and therefore passionate, but to me it's just a sign of immaturity.

I actually like some emotion and fire in golfers but slamming your putter on "spike marks" after every single missed putt begins to feel like the boy that cried wolf. And I do mean boy...he is 22 though and has plenty of time to mature. His game is so seasoned though I guess I expect his attitude to be as well.

I could start a thread titled "what kind of dumb stuff did you do at 22yrs old" in the 19th hole and a lot of guys would post stuff in there about crazy dumb stuff they did when they were younger, and people would laugh and joke about how you do stuff like that when you are young.....but a 22yr old on the PGA tour slams his putter of throws a club and we're done with him. Worst person ever. Never cheer for him. Where's my pedestal?

Whoa that's blowing it way out of proportion to what I said in my OP. Took me a while to warm up to Sergio but now he's one of my favorite players ever. Rahm just needs to mellow out like DJ a bit so he can be a better golfer. And I don't have to like his club slamming BS just bc I may have done that at my club when I was young. Can't say I've watched enough of Rahm to notice. I followed him for a bit at the World Cup last year and didn't see anything untoward.

Question: are his antics better or worse than Speith's continual whining after every shot? "That's the worst wedge I've ever hit in competition" gets old pretty quick...

It's like the 3rd, 4th thread about this now. So i'm lumping this in with the other ones for better or worse. But it doesn't even matter that it's Rahm, it could be 7-10 other guys over the years (Spieth comes to mind). Whenever there is a young player who gets frustrated on tour there are threads started about how the guy needs to clean up his act and handle misses better.

Most 22yr olds have problems regulating emotion. Being ridiculously good at hitting a golf ball doesn't change that

It's funny because i had this same discussion at dinner tonight with some guys from a vendor we work with, we were talking about stupid things we did when we were younger. Some of these guys are really smart guys, who run important product lines at 40-45yrs old. But at 22 we're all just a little crazy and emotional. At 22 you aren't even necessarily who you are yet, so to speak

Hatten in the short time I've seen him has cried about more spike marks than the rest of the Tour combined. I already can't stand the guy. Justin Thomas' antics of a 3 year old and the look on his face like he just pooped his pants irritates me far more than Rahm, but yes, he needs to mature a bit still.

I was watching and thought wow he has a bit of a temper.... then I thought back to 22 year old hammy. Cancel that thought... he's pretty calm. Good for him still having all his clubs in his bag at the end of the round.
