ping BeCu.. why not i210s？

is there any reason why Ping dont do BeCu irons anymore？when I was young the sexiest clubs ever where the eye2 BC ..anybody else would love to see the i210 in BC？

Too expensive. Not only is the material expensive the manufacturing safety controls necessary when working with BeCu would add significantly more. I don't think it bends as easily as 431 stainless either.

The EPA banned the machining of BeCu some years ago. Ping will no longer work on any of their BeCu precious models.

If Ping made a set of 210s with the same process as their Stealth wedges, I would buy them full stop.

Grinding beryllium releases a ton of beryllium dust into the factory shop. Inhaling beryllium dust causes lung scarring, which leads to chronic beryllium disease ("CBD"). CBD is similar to mesothelioma. After CBD was linked to beryllium exposure, Ping decided it wasn't worth killing their employees just to make really cool looking golf clubs.

Even if they could or would do it, I am not sure you would like them. The shape and size of the irons would have to be reworked due to the change in density of the metal.

BeCu is not banned. It just requires special precautions when working with it if fumes or dust are created. I believe Ping will still bend BeCu irons, but you must sign a waver.

When I was at their HQ in Phoenix four years ago last month, it was a definite "no".

Back in high school I had a 56 Hogan BECU wedge and it was the best wedge I ever owned. Used to rip apart balatas like nobody’s business but I probably could have backed a ball up on a green made of granite. ?Had an BECU Eye2 1i too and that thing was money off the tee. Miss them both.
