I Said I'd never watch Altered Course again, oh wait I haven't
I have, and by have I mean I left the tv on and it was on when I walked back in the room, saw 4 guys lay the sod from inside 100 and 2 chunked chips in the 38 seconds it was on.

Play blades -- got converted after a few shots with Scratch SB-1s that I now play.

Spend several hundred dollars on a putter -- man, has that ship sailed...and sailed and sailed and sailed...

Play a driver with turbulators -- G30 LST made me eat those words.

Let's try this: I'll never have an ace.

Ping G430 LST 9* (set to 7.5*), 45", Fujikura Ventus TR Black 6x
Ping G430 LST 14.5* (set to 13*) Fujikura Ventus Black 7x

Buy and sell clubs to improve my game:
I went through 4 iron sets, 5 drivers and 3 putters. Ended up with the 3rd set I bought and about to move onto the 5th set I bought once fitted. Ended up with the original driver I bought and then sold the rest after getting fitted.

Once I shot my best score I would keep the clubs and swing and just repeat that every week:
Lost the swing and then Sold the set and have never been able to find either again.

Play a hybrid above 5I:
At this point, while I haven't done it yet, I am contemplating buying a 4I.
Well after never saying I would never play anything above a 5I as I hate them, even my 5I, I bought a 4I yesterday so its going to be interesting!

Graphite iron shafts. Yeah. That just happened. Getting the build back next week.

I did that too. Well not graphite but steelfiber so close enough. It's made a big difference I think and all for the better.

Haha I'll join this group as well. Time will tell how long I play with them though, but right now I need to.

Same as John L.

When I was younger it baffled me to see 40 year olds that were accomplished players in their younger days say they were coming back to the game after hardly playing for years. I always wondered why you would stop, I loved the game so much it made no sense to me. Here I am trying to play my 5th round of the year, and when I do, it will be the most rounds I have played in 5 years. I swore I would never quit, but essentially I did.

My right eye went bad. Macular Degeneration is causing some weird side effects like depth perception, and vertigo. I can still play, but it is like seeing a ball that is 5 feet from my eyes.......appear to be 3-10 feet away ........or the ball seems to be a weird shape while standing over it.
Tough one, sorry to hear that. Wishing you the best over here.

Buy expensive JDM clubs. First few times I saw tourspec with its tagline 'golf to impress' I thought it was stupid silly. Fast forward ... Miura wedges, Miura irons, Yamaha irons, jbeam driver with trpx shaft. And may get another set of jdm blades. Yikes.

Never would I pay $350-500 for one round of golf. Done it twice this year (chambers bay and spyglass)....totally worth it

Never would I play a taylormade driver. Have r15 in the travel bag and hitting it straighter than ever.

I think the only one left is never would I buy a circle t putter.....tempting me lately

I said I would never change my swing.

I started playing at about 10 years old or so and had a "natural" golf swing.

I had a 1.5 handicap with persimmon, blades, and balata.

I remember going months without shooting over 76-77.

I had a great short game and was as good a putter as anyone around but I was never long.

15 years ago some friends convinced me to change my swing to get long. Go to a more "modern" swing.

I now can't hit the ball that well, my short game sucks, and I hit it long - in the woods.

I would never try to change someone's natural swing who plays well.

There is a lot of truth to what you wrote.

I taught myself, and I have stuck with just a few basic swing keys. It isn't a pretty swing, but I can repeat it all day long. I came close to having a Pro friend change me some years ago, but luckily he saw the wisdom in telling me...no. He said that it was my swing, I understood what made it work, and that I owned it.

Same, had a natural swing that I needed to tighten up. Instead of tightening it up, I changed it and now can not get back to it. I don't feel as comfortable or as natural and feel I have to force everything to move to swing.

Slowly slowly it is starting to become normal\comfortable and feel somewhat natural and now starting to find my groove again.

I always tell myself that I'm not going to get angry at any shots....but there are always 1 or 2 that piss me off during a round. I try to adhere to the "10 second rule" where I can be mad about the shot for 10 seconds and then I have to get focused on the next shot. I'll never understand how somebody can just laugh after a bad shot. Maybe it'll come with age, I'm still relatively young.

I said I'd never buy into the gimmick of high end equipment, especially putters. Now I can't understand how my friends hit stock driver shafts and use average putters, and when someone asks me how a $400 putter can make any bit of difference, I don't even have an answer. You guys have warped my mind, but it's made a difference.

One of my bigger ones was that I would never use a range finder.. I started as a "feel" player and I liked that better, especially for within 150 yards, now things seem more complicated, although I am shooting better because of actual yardage knowledge. I couldn't avoid it anymore after hitting two perfect 6 irons on a tee that claimed 185 to the middle of the green and coming up 10 yards short, low and behold after going back with a range finder, the yardage marker was 15 yards off, after that I was sold.
