It's funny, but when Tiger was really roaring, I either didn't have a TV or wasn't watching much. And certainly wasn't watching much golf. Also, the surprising stuff was 20 years ago now.

I kind of remember 2000 at Pebble just thinking that he went -15 in a US Open where everyone else was around par and thinking he was just invalidating golf.

Its funny, I was just looking at that recap on wiki. They list the course at only 6846. Par 71, but still.

I was going to say the same. That 2000 US Open was nuts. Not to mention that it was the first of 4 consecutive Majors.

I also remember going to the 1997 US Open as a wee lad, not much of a Tiger memory for me, only that he was there and the crowds around him were massive.

I think this is my favorite Tiger win and the one I most remember watching. When he walks the ball in and points at it. Then follows it up with a fist pump. Oh yeah, that still gets me going.

Yes!

Best Tiger Toursauce moment ever, that walk in birdie.

GTM2 : Give a preview of the 2017 season for yourself.

.

.

.

I can't believe we're so close to the start of the golf season already. It doesn't even feel like we've had an offseason. Just a season of slightly less comfortable golfing temperatures.

The bag is feeling pretty set as we head into the season. It'll be a little competition between the Fastback and the Method to see which works better. I might mess around with the shaft and settings on the Epic as well. I'm not looking to make any wholesale replacements on other clubs though.

I'm really unsure what golf ball is going to be my main squeeze this season. I've been playing the V1X the past two seasons, but have definitely been enjoying the B330s this winter. Not really interested in doing a big shootout, so it's probably between those two balls. I just need to decide by the time the buy 3 get 1 free deal rolls around on the V1 series this spring. The buy 2 get 1 deal on the B330 was excellent, but has expired.

My putting is feeling much improved in the controlled environment of my indoor putting green. I'll be very excited to transition away from playing putting stroke to actually trying to focus on holing putts as the season ramps up.

At the same time my putting feels like it's heading up, my swing feels like it's going in the wrong direction. I've been bouncing around trying different stuff, and not really focusing on working any one thing until it's ingrained. As a result, the swing is just feeling kind of lost. I'm not getting the consistent strike I want at all right now.

I'm predicting sort of a slow start to the handicap season. I think my handicap will go back up to a more sustainable level based on early season rounds, and maybe I'll find another good streak by mid-summer.

GTM:

(Announcer Voice)

2016 was not kind to Golfer827. Beginning with a shellacking at the hands of Thread Hero Dave Chen in Laurel Hills and ending in heartbreak at the 7 club challenge. His swing, a decent affair, but lacking. Cumulating in multiple horrific shots in the times he had teed it up.

However, it was not all on the course. Outside, a personal decision left him nearly broken in spirit. However, good conscience and friendship from the aforementioned Thread Hero and The rest of the Hive provided the uplifting he needed to finish well. Cumulating in perhaps his best shot during the TurKey Party where a pure strike showed the dead was not gone

*Show video of the 6 iron into 5 at Glen Dale*

Now in 2017, a renewed Deadman emerges. A firmer grasp on his weaknesses. He looks toward the Equinoxious with a new eye. He looks at other opportunities he had previously not taken as new adventures.

He looks at his handicap, dreading the 30 currently plastered in front of him... (announcer fades out)

This year, I'm anticipating a very long climb to a good score. I see the journey ahead. My short game carried me last year. This year, it's time to add consistent long game.

I plan to take cuts nearly every available night as the days grow longer. Planning to play more often, and enjoy the experiences. This year, I'm not just playing to play. I'm here to compete and win.

Shiggles are to be had, my friends.

Planning to... enjoy the experiences.

You made great strides doing this in 2016. Don't think it goes unnoticed. You were a lot less down on yourself this year, and I'm no psychologist but I'd say that helped your game as much as taking 10,000 post-cream soda practice cuts before bed.

Everyone's got their "zone" where they perform best. You've moved to a less negative mindset and it's showing dividends. Keep that momentum going and I bet you'll continue to see more improvement.

GTM2: I expect further improvement. Would love to get the handi down below 6 at some point this season (currently 7.4). Increased focus on the spangle. It's going to be a good season. Want to get out there and play right now.

I was standing on my left leg throwing a ball back and forth today at PT. they didn't understand why it wasn't causing issues. Bish, that's how I put my socks on that's why it wasn't causing issues.

GTM3: How do you put your socks on?

GTM....has to be better than last year.

In general I'd just like to play more. I had some good scores going early in the season last year when I was playing a lot, and then work got in the way. Didn't play for 4-6 weeks straight and when I came back I was horrid. Worst of all, I stunk it up at Pinehurst. Work isn't any better right now, but shows some hope of improving in the near future.

The round at Waverly yesterday was promising enough. I've gotten some clubhead speed back. The putting was solid. Just need to work on 1-80 yard wedge game and I'll be in good shape.
