Why is it so hard to resist the poser bag?

I've been a Titleist staff member on the course, and a Nike team member on the hardwood for a while now...I'm just waiting for my endorsement checks to show up in the mail.

then I have:

Cleveland 588 RTX Wedges (46, 50, 54, 58...)

And I always use a Callaway hat, belt and glove when I play...and I will shoot from even to 4 over on my rounds, like I said a "TOTAL POSER"....but I understand the point of having everything matching and not being able to play, BUT, like stated before I really pay not attention to what others are wearing, playing or saying...I was in an accident (blown up in Iraq) and since then I look at life a bit different, so in all honesty golf is a game and I treat it as such, I love it but I love family time more than anything else, you never know when your last day will be...keep pushing to be the best person you can be...

 

Will likely be switching to one brand for '16 season solely due to OCD. I just wanted to thank you for your service. Best of luck in 2016.

What's wrong with someone wanting to have a poser bag? Does it affect your game? Does it take money out of your wallet?

 

I saw a high handicapper with a Titleist staff bag, all brand new Titleist gear and dressed to the nines. He looked happy! Good for him I thought. And anyone who has a problem with a guy like that should mind their own business after they go "F" themselves.

I may have broken the spell of the poseur bag. Quick story bro:

 

I was one club away (and a new bag) from having the full on Titleist poseur setup.

 

Hat, shoes, shirt, 3 wood, hybrid, irons, wedges, putter (old Bullseye, ehrmahgerd!), ball, & glove. As an Asst. pro, I looked like I was on staff! The only real problem was that the one club I was missing, the big dog, wasn't to be. I haven't hit a Titleist driver well since the good ole' 975D.

 

So there I was. 99% poseur and a TMAG (blech!) driver. And then it happened. I started bombing this driver. I mean nutting this silly thing. 13/14 fairways-type stuff. 3 straight rounds of great drives, long & straight, small to medium misses. And it hit me.

 

What's more fun? Looking like a player, or playing like a player?

 

2014 is the year of "Play what works, regardless of how fugly it is." I'll call it PWWROHFI2 for short. So, the garage got raided last night. Out of the bag came the Bullseye, in went an old Rife mid mallet that gets off center hits to the hole. Out came the Vokeys, in went Eye 2 wedges, SW & LW. Illegal, yes, ugly, yes, do they work? Heck yes! The irons stayed in the bag, they have been behaving, but out came the Titleist 3h and the 4i and in went my favorite clubs of all time, Nickent Genex Ironwood 3h & 4h. Loaded with lead tape. I mean you can't even appreciate the beautiful dark purple finish on these things. They are covered! Out came the 906f2 (an outstanding club, mind you) and in went, gasp!, an OG RBZ tour 3 wood. It is just as straight, and simply longer.

 

So there you have it. I'll be PWWROHFI2 in 2014. Here's to playing like a player instead of looking like one.

Had to give up on my Mizuno poser bag. Couldn't force myself to keep playing the woods and hybrids. Added a Callaway 4 wood a couple weeks ago, and have Adams and Cobra hybrids coming to compete for my 18-20* hybrid spot.

I'm definitely sporting the poser bag down to the mini staff bag. Just can't pull off the apparel. I'm all over the place from Polo to Nike to Adidas to Perer Millar and FJ.

Isn't a "mini staff bag" an oxymoron akin to "jumbo shrimp"? If it's not full size, it's hardly a "staff" bag is it? Actually I'd argue if you're not paying someone to schlep it for you, it's not a staff bag.

I can't speak for everyone obviously but I personally picked the mini-staff bag because my previous cart bag was torn up and needed replacing. I thought the mini-staff looked better and would be better quality than the regular cart bags I looked at. I was correct other than its actually smaller than my previous cart bag.
