How much is riding in a cart worth?

Local public golf course that we play often throughout the season:

M - F 18 holes w/cart - $36 (walking $22) per person. I'm a senior so it's $28 / $17.
Weekends/holidays - $40 cart / $26 walk per person.

Never have given it much thought whether it was reasonable, it just is. A whole lot cheaper than what I experienced in Fla. during a visit last winter. Outrageous prices for mediocre courses.

For those with disabilities the price of a cart is worth it no matter the cost. It is a choice between playing golf or not.

yes sir cart rates are going up. Some of the Muni courses in my area are run by an outside pro shop means that money for the course goes to the city and the pro shop including cart fees and other things you buy, go to the owner of the pro shop. So usually the pro shop if they increase prices on things in the shop will also make adjustments in the cart fee. Taking that into consideration, one of the courses that newly reopened after a long renovation in the monterey bay area charged $25 bucks a person for cart fees. I guess they are trying to recoup money right away for the overhaul. So I guess there are two reasons right there for you.

In Northern NJ $15-$18 per person riding is typical. Reasonable? Somewhat, and with the design of many of the newer courses where the next tee may be 200 yards away, they do speed up making your way around the course. I usually take a cart, especially for 18 holes, and at my age (62) and with my back I appreciate them. I will walk an executive 9 hole course (my local is @2200 yards) or 9 on an older, more compact course.

depending on where it is it is worth more than $$$... could be worth 30-45 min added to a round.

We often get charged the cart fee in Chicago for walking. Well over 50% of the courses charge the fee.
[/quote]

That's really BS.

What it really says is that it's all about the Benjamins. A few courses have argued with me that the cart is necessary to "speed up play". Lol. When pressed, they let me walk after paying the fee. 'So much for PoP.

At my home course, $15 in the morning for a cart, and $10 after 1. It's worth it for me to walk because the course is far too hilly to walk. I enjoy walking but the amount of elevation changes and distance between holes would not allow it.

In Tampa, the cart fee is about $16 - $22.

I pay $80/month extra to cover cart fees at my club.

So they try to encourage people to ride by making the cart fee mandatory, but they don't make riding mandatory. Makes perfect gouging sense to me.

You got it. But you have to remember, in Chicago you can vote multiple times, even if you're dead...as can your dog and other pets.

I bypass all that and play majority supertwi. Go figure..I'll ride, get 18 in and only pay 27-35. Sounds like money well spent to me. Golf (18) in general, as we all know is A. Too expensive and more importantly B. Takes too long if you're playing 18.

I leave the walking for when I go hiking. I don't have the stamina to play well when walking the courses here in California as many of them have significant elevation changes. I'll just ride.

I like the way you guys roll in Chi-town. Can you bring your AR-15 when you play? You never know when a scoring dispute will erupt.
