Sure. Hey, if your into trying new things, you might want to check out DJ Watts golf swing. He has scoliosis and says his swing is the best way to do it.
Agree with this. DJ has a HIGHLY anticipated Hogan anthology coming out that's sure to shake the golf world to its core.

I'm a sucker for trying new techniques, so I will give this swing a try on the range. Pretty sure I can hit a fade with it, face might have to be open 12* or something though.

What's wrong with your current swing that would make you want to try this?
Back problems. Adult onset scoliosis.

I should qualify that while I will try this swing, it has no chance of becoming a permanent solution for me. Long term left-anchoring is a no go for my back.

But why not try it? For me exploration and having fun is part of learning.
So let me get this straight, you're going to try something in your golf swing ,just for fun to see how it will work even though you have no plan of keeping it long term? Yeah I could see why you'd be unhappy with how you hit the ball.

Never said I was unhappy with how I hit the ball.

Just going to try it out for fun. Nothing wrong with that, and why do you care?

It's implied. I don't change the brakes on my car unless they're worn out or something amazingly better comes out. It's just funny when there are so many people on this forum asking questions about their swings and then willing to try whatever at a moment's notice.

Great, so don't change your brakes.

I personally didn't seek any opinions about my swing and AGAIN, I'm just trying this for fun.

I don't take golf too seriously, so I'm totally happy with how I hit the ball. My only concern is trying to find a golf swing that doesn't hurt. That's what's implied.

I am in no way affiliated with JV.
I signed up with his online program on Sat afternoon.

I watched a bunch of his short videos. I was really excited bc it sounded so simple.

A little history: I've been golfing for almost a year now. Not exactly sure what my handicap is, but I normally shoot low 90's to high 80's.
I think my progress has been pretty good for a relative newcomer. I tried lessons about 4 months ago, but stopped after three lessons (I found it frustrating).

I watched a number of his videos Sat night and Sun am.
I went to the driving range on Sun am, and was amazed at how well I was hitting the ball. I was skeptical initially bc it sounded too easy. But, for $30, I was willing to give it a try.

Before I joined I had no idea his swing was really different. I just thought it was a cheap and convenient way to get instruction on the mechanics of the golf swing.

Yesterday am was the best I've ever hit the ball at the range. I went back last night and hit a practice bucket, and once again, it was amazing to see how much better I was hitting the ball.
Same thing today at lunch. Today I focused mainly on my 3 hybrid (a difficult club for me to hit). I was hitting it consistently long (200-210 carry, which is long for me), with a nice draw shape that I've been unable to ever do with any consistency.

No, you don't lose power.
No your balls aren't curling 30 yards over the fairway (mis hits) probably do. It's the shape my instructor was trying to get me to have on my shots when I took real lessons.

I'm not expecting to turn pro. I just like to play the game when I can keep the ball in play, and not top the ball, or hit it fat. That stuff is frustrating as heck. I'm a decent golfer at this stage, and I think incorporating this swing can definitely shave some points off my score and make me a more consistent player.

Maybe it wouldn't work for the guys who are experienced/exceptionally skilled golfers???

But, I can tell you, in the 12 months I've been golfing this is the most excited I've been about golfing. I called my best buddy while he was in church yesterday am and told him to join up ASAP.

I'd suggest, on my very limited experience, if you're struggling with consistency, give it a try.
For $30 what do you have to lose?

Hands up if you've tried it and keep your hands up if you hit it well
Both hands up for me! I plan to try it again, but won't be able to get out till Saturday. I rewatched a bunch of the videos, and found some new ones that helped. If it continues to go well,I'll probably join the site to have Jim look at my swing. who knows if I'm even doing it right. But what I am doing worked pretty darn well for the first time out.

To Jim V,

Very disappointed. I watched your side by side comparison of you and Mr. Jones...I had to stop before it finished.

More disappointing...You have yet to show a full driver swing of prodigious length. I asked for a driver swing early on in this thread. You provided a link to "chatter". If you were just some dude shooting the bull, so be it, I and everyone else would care less to see a swing, but you claim to be an instructor and have made claims of long drives that would be quite impressive for the technique you espouse...

Demonstrate it, please...if you don't, well, this is WRX...

He posted twice about this already. He DID post a driver swing a few pages back,go find it.

So with this method the fade will have to be a push fade right? I can live with that.

Jim can you show some footage of you hitting different shot shapes at different trajectories?

I would also like to see the long drive swings. Would be cool to watch!
There's a video on youtube showing him demonstrating how to hit the fade.Really there's a video for pretty much everything. I like to try different swings. even when I'm playing my best,I'll fool with something unique (often to my game's detriment) just because it's interesting. I've tried Trahan, E2E, and a bunch of other stuff I can't even remember.
Too bad some guys here gotta ruin it.

This is a sad thread. It makes it blatantly clear that there is very little room for exploration and discussion of alternative points of views on gwx nowdays. If the divide is more than 1.5 knuckles the gloves come off immediately. It happens every f#####g time.

This discussion would have turned out quite differently only a few years ago...

Extremely low quality video where you can't see the shaft, the club, or more than a black smear that is JV. 7Min 24 seconds for one swing (leave the sound off) from a camera angle that is totally useless - seems par for the course.

I don't understand something. I think Jim was neither rude, nor was he run off.

It was a fairly heated debate, but I saw nothing nasty on either side. I have been called a liar, a charlatan, a fraud, a hack, stupid, just to name a few.

BFD, the people who like what have to say will listen, the ones who don't, won't. This place is like a comedy club. You are going to get heckled.

Like I said in my response, I am not going to debate that this won't work, but strongly disagree that swing method is more powerful than a shift.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

^^^ That video is good enough to determine that there is nothing terrible about his swing. Unorthodox, sure, but the impact looks good.
