I'm going to try to turn 10 000$ of my winnings last year into 100 000$ this year. I will start with putting bets on players at this weeks Shell Houston Open. I've not put any bets so far this year. (Very hard to know where players are at after season breaks etc.)

 

Next week (Masters!!!) I'll put my bets out earlier so that if anyone wants to tail some of my bets has time to do so.

Ryan Moore 31X - 100$

I like Stenson's chances. I think he's gonna come back with a fury and being how long he is, it should be interesting to watch. The key for him to win, is he has to be putting well.

I think Stensons chances at Augusta could be hurt a bit by the fact that he has the flu right now. However he has the lowest scoring average of anyone on the PGA-tour right now and is in form. As you say, the putting is really the key issue for him and the Masters reward good putters, so I think it probably is the major he has the least chance to win. I will follow him on twitter etc to see what he thinks about his chances however.

I like your picks this week, do you know what Paul Casey's odds were going into shell?

Stenson is an interesting player, he has great strokes gained putting stats, but those very "visible" 3 putts makes him look like a horrible putter (at least under pressure). As far as his Twitter habits goes, he is no poulter so you might not get too much info there.

I've got a pretty decent record punting in the masters, much better than other tournamnts.
The keys I always look for is big hitters, with good course form going back, in half decent nick and opposing first time defending champs.
£100 is a big bet for me, I really fancy McIiroy, course should set up ideal for him, bit for rain to soften the fairways too. I really believe if he is motivated and plays well, he is better than the rest by some way atm.My good friend who is a pro sports gambler has got stuck in to Rory too. I'm not usually a favorite backer but 6/1 seems genuine value.
Couples and Els at 230/1 are overpriced, though I cant really see them doing it, might be able to trade out for a profit if they are going well.
The scwhertzel bet is a bit of a flyer, he could go pretty well on past showings, I was interested that Mark Broadie had him as one of his picks on strokes gained, so 90's may have been overpriced. hes out to 120/1 though now!
Bubba is still a good price as the course is just so perfect for him. though the defending champ worries me somewhat, I backed him at 40's the year he won, but swerved him the year after, then backed him again at 33/1 last year. I think as he has been through the defending champ scenario before he may be unaffected but he could go either way imo.
The £2 on Woodland is just because Ive bet him here at big prices a few times and would be annoyed if he went in, Don't think he will though.
Ive backed Cabrera before when he won, and made a tidy profit when he lost in the playoff too as I traded out, still a big hitter and loves the place, 100/1 a working mans price and worth a go again.
I fancy Scott much more now he isn't defending champ, I wasn't going to bet him but the broomstick back in swayed me. I think he will go well. a bit overpriced
I think at current odds.He has won and been second here, and his ball striking still seems great. I forgive him last year as opposed him as first time defending.
I like Day, big hitter, great course record, in decent form. last year he picked up a niggling thumb injury just before but still managed to go OK, I worry a little about him closing a major out though, really fancy him to place, so if he goes very short might take a profit.
DJ should love it round here, but his record isn't quite as good round Augusta as you would expect. He seems really focused though this year and I expect a big showing, his price has been tightening a little though, maybe the value has been squeezed a little?

Tiger could be the worst price or the best price of all time! cant make my mind up.
I never really considered Blixt, be nice to see Jiminez win but not convinced.
Three of our selections are the same (Great minds eh? lol) (Bubba, Cabrera and Couples)
I normally have a little on Langer but think he is too long in tooth this time, 300/1 is value though, might have a cpl of quid on!
I don't really like Speith at the price, I know he went well last year but i cant think Augusta is his best chance of a major this year and hes been playing a lot of golf. it wouldn't be a shock if he won but looks under-priced IMHO.
I've never been convinced about Stensons temperament for the really big one, and the putter can go awry under pressure so giving him a swerve.

Anyway that's my masters thoughts from a betting perspective, probably makes financial sense to ignore them though, lol
