City and PQ will be fine teaming up in the fourball. It's fourball medal play, right? Just go out and post the lowest score you can. There's not even any "you play a stupid agressive shot and I'll be conservative" stuff, really. Just play your normal games.

I'ts a best ball. You still need to maximize your birdie chances.

Speaking of that crap article that Barney wrote in the main page of th site, Matt Adams on The Fairways of Life (Golf Channel and XM radio in the AM) referred to it, stating it sparks a good debate but was very poorly written! Too funny.

Good to hear. The guy is obviously smart and successful, but he just shouldn't be writing articles. It reminds me when I was in advertising and we would have to deal with clients who thought they could write but they didn't even get subject-verb agreement. My theory is that they were very successful in their business, so that made them feel confident about something as "basic" as writing.

I understand the

Golfer: "I hit the ball so well on the range why can't I take it to the course??"

Instructor: " you hit the ball well on the range because you can time your swing well enough to compensate for your flaws on the 7th – 16th ball"

But that doesn't necessarily apply anymore once you're a decent golfer. I'm not going to claim "perfect" mechanics (whatever that even means), but in my last two rounds I've lost one ball. I'm not a mechanical disaster. If my alignment/aim/rhythm are good I hit good shots. When they are off the repercussion is mechanical problems. So when I jerk the club away at the takeaway I lay it off. When I'm smooth and turn my body I don't. The problem isn't my mechanics it's my alignment/aim/rhythm.

Changing from theoretical to practical: the implication is that for many players (me) it's more important to make more your swing more consistent than it is to make it "better". You get more consistent through repetitions with a focus on the target.

I disagree with the bolded point.

Without ever seeing it, I'd wager that you're not working with a tour caliber swing that just needs a few minor alignment and rhythm tweaks for you to break through to the next level.

I'm a decent player. My swing is decent. It's not a few alignment tweaks and any number of reps away from me magically transforming into a consistent plus handicap player. It needs improvement. I can make it more consistent through reps, but I'm not going to hit a point where suddenly I break through and drasically improve from where I am.

In other words, I believe every swing has a ceiling. You can get closer and closer to that ceiling through reps, but you're not going to break through without improving the motion.

PQ should hit driver on #9 for sure.

#MindGames

Given that it'll be into a 20mph headwind today, you can bet I'll be hitting it. That was a one-off Sully. Don't make us put a beatdown on you today.

Walking or riding? Playing the tips or blues? City I'm playing the blues, so start working your handicap mojo to figure it out strokes:)

Walking. I want to play tips. I think City and Halcyan would be fine with Blues or Tips. The wind is going to be brutal.

tips. Sully gets 9.

Normally, PQ, Halcyan and I play even, even thought they're both 3's and I'm 5.5 right now.

I'm not going to worry about it, though, because, while I've been getting whooped by PQ lately, I've edged Halcyan the last few times out. If Sully puts up 83 in the wind, we might be in trouble, though.

Sully dropped a 38 on the back 9 last week, and it was not NOT windy.

GTT - typically like to chip with the 50 and pitch with the 54. Of course that can change depending on the situation.

I'm looking to be the best player I can given my time, talent, and physical limitations. I don't think swing changes are the best way to do that.

Maybe I need to define swing changes though. I'm working to adjust my setup somewhat. I need to. That's different than a whole sale change.

I get that.

Just saying there's a ceiling to improvement without making changes. You're probably not going to go from a 5 down to scratch with a limited practice schedule. With an unlimited practice and play schedule - probably. I got as low as a +1 back in the day when school hours and daylight were the only limitations to my golf time. Take the time and reps away, and the consistency isn't there.

I wouldn't be totally afraid of swing changes, either. My current prescription is basically hitting punches to work on impact zone motion. Not exactly some outlandish overhaul. I think, especially for a better player, that "get worse before you get better" is bull$hit. Worthington last Thursday was my first round after my lesson. I think JJ would tell you based on seeing me spray it around Hobbits that things aren't getting worse for me before they get better. They're just getting better.

Normally, PQ, Halcyan and I play even, even thought they're both 3's and I'm 5.5 right now.

You had no problem taking 3 from me at WM, donk.

That's fine. With these conditions lately my hc is going up nicely

I was like make-a-wish foundation out there dishing pops. 3 for city, 7 for JJ, and 8 to Domes (my partner). At the end of the day though, I just didn't play well enough. Especially the way I came rumbling, bumbling, stumbling in on the last 3 holes. I can't fire +10, even in those conditions, and expect to come out on top. Gotta play better.

Tee Time Alert:

Saturday 7:30 @ Northwest

Possibly 1-2 spots open

I just shot a note to my usual crew. If they don't have room for me, I may jump on that if there is still an opening.

That would be a pleasant surprise! Always love to get a round with a superfriend I haven't had the chance to play with yet - especially when it's a NoVa guy willing to come up this way :).

58 degree for everything

Mistake.

Ask MTN if it was a mistake...

I'm comfortable with it and might work on the 54 more this year but will see.

Since some of you dudes are so into shoes, did you read the story that came out recently about how Under Armour got Steph Curry instead of Nike?

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15047018/how-nike-lost-stephen-curry-armour

Pretty crazy. They were showing him a PowerPoint at one point where they left Kevin Durant's name on one of the slides from a past presentation. . .SMGDH.
