Golf Talk Wednesday : What is a target number you would like to hit for a round in 2016? It could be a total score, barrier you want to break through, score in relation to par, or differential.

Good question..and timely. I've been working on the "mental game" and have been reading Larry Bassham's "With Winning in Mind" and absolutely love it. Has started to turn my confidence around on the course and in tournaments and even bad rounds are now around 80-82. I highly recommend the book. I have been working through the section on goal setting this week as a matter of fact, and really like his perspective. There are other things I have learned about myself, especially in tournament play with friends that I am working on and frankly have to focus more on my game during that 4 1/2 hours and nothing else. I know I'm not a big talker on the course, but when I've played my better rounds in tournament play like in the WAGT Nationals I pretty much didn't know anyone in my group existed during the round. I have to get back to that "edge" to be more successful in tournament play.

That is a long way to say my goals are to: 1) Enjoy playing the game more (it has started to become too much like work lately with the amount of practice I have been putting in), 2) Average 78 in tournament play for the rest of the season, including MSGA Mid-Am and WAGT Nationals 3) Win CCCP Season-long match play, 4) Wear my "Cocky" belt buckle more:)

Stix, all you need is me talking s*** to you on the first tee. You'll play great.

Eagle, the 'burns are the best part. Thank you kindly.

Actually, another golf goal is to still be able to relax and have fun when playing a slow round or if my group is falling behind. The latter is particularly stressful for me, and I know, the group needs to pick up the pace, but I can only play so fast and be "that guy" so much (by reminding the group to speed up). I'm definitely not saying it's okay to be slow, but too often, I feel like the burden falls on me, and I just start dinking it around so make a point for everyone else to speed up. I don't think I'm a slow player (someone else feel free to chime in *flame suit on*), not unreasonably at least, and I always do my best to keep pace, but oftentimes I don't enjoy the round as much as I should have compared to if my group were on pace. Basically, I rush, my fault or not.

Does this even make sense?

Yeah, I know that feeling. I play pretty quickly. So when I'm out on the course with my family, I feel like I have to drag them around the whole round to keep pace. Most of the time we're on pretty empty executive courses, so it's not a problem. But if we're on a busy course, I'm tense the whole time.

Waiting on the group in front doesn't bother me that much, but I don't like making the group behind wait.

Completely. I feel the exact same way. I thinks it's because I despise slow play so much, I assume every other player int he course does as well, and I don't want US to be the group is annoying everyone else.

Probably a reason why I find myself playing with you and other WRXers more often these days. Most people don't take pace of play seriously.

Puppetmaster posts > Puppetmaster likes.

lol@Puppetmaster.

you have more posts than likes.

no one else on here does.

that's funny.

OR

your posts deserve more likes because they are so funny.

OR

your posts are so far superior to our midget-minded family that we don't like you and thus must (rightly) mock you through laughter.

i'm thinking #3.

Did you match your blue Bio Cell driver and shoes at Bristow when I played with you? You just need rayon pants and a cardigan.

last call for this saturday's DCGT tourney at worthington manor. we've got 6 wrxers coming out by my count. hit me up on PM if interested. also have non-tourney spots available if you're just looking to come out and play.

worthington just had the us open qualifier on may 9, and according to gregH is in unbelievable shape.

It is very much the norm for everyone else on this site except the locals to have more Posts than likes.

Who is the man?

Retired blue man group performer? Smurf with Marfan Syndrome?

We're at the beach. This morning I went out front and an old dude and old lady went by on beach cruisers and they looked dapper and the old dude was smoking a pipe while pedaling by. It was boss. Both hands on the bars, puffing away.

How does TheCityDame feel about you calling her an old lady?

You have to do that in Atlantic City to:

1. Fit in with everyone else on the bus tours.

2. Get the 2 for 1 buffet.

3. Not stand out in the nickel slot area.

I think that is Vin S©ully - LA Dodgers announcer. Might be the reason for the blue.

I am much disappoint in the Monte clinic attendees. They spent 3 days with other DMV WRX'ers, and we have exactly zero new people showing up in here. Less golf game improvement, more internet banter!

Was a clinic attendee. I was one of 87 Dave's- the one with swing where the lower body attempts to separate from the upper body in transition in the most gruesome manner possible.

Worthington - Greens are fast and hard, rough is thick from all the rain. The course is as green as it can get. Have a great time, I'll be building a little patio with pavers off the main patio for my grill. That should make my back and shoulders happy

Think of it has a good core and arms workout for golf.
