Anyone worried about the Cavs?

No - not yet - I think they take care of business tonight and don't have much doubt they beat Toronto. That said, I'm also the guy who thought the Warriors would beat OKC :(

I'm not worried about cavs. they'll get a little home cooking from the refs. I don't think Lowery keeps up that kind of production on the road.

Golf Talk Wednesday : What is a target number you would like to hit for a round in 2016? It could be a total score, barrier you want to break through, score in relation to par, or differential.

Ambitiously speaking, 75, if I can find a good run of playing/practicing, or as PQ says, playcticing, in the next few months.

Considering I only play 20ish rounds a year and have stunk it up for 2 years, breaking 80 a few times might be more realistic, but why stop there? I plan to go out for some twilight nines and play from the forward tees to get myself into the correct mindset to go low. For me, it's more mental prep (I think) than beating balls on the range.

Break 80 at a tougher course like Waverly/Worthington/Hobbits from the blues. It's somewhere around a 5-6 differential, with my best rounds so far being ~9.

I'd like to shoot an 85 (or better). My best score in recent times is an 88. I think I've shot an 87 in the past, but it'd be nice to say "I shot in the low 80's". I ought to be able to do it at the red tee challenge, but does that count?

Par. Not going to happen if I tip it out all year though. Although I think it could be in play at PR.

Maybe 74 from tips at PR, which was in play a couple times last year.

78 from tips at Hobbits.

Two consecutive rounds sub 151.5.

Finally getting a handle on the mental side. The swing and ballstriking is at a good point and has been, but the mental game had been weak. Getting that under control and not worrying what/what not to do opens up a lot of possibility. Score wise break 80.

I'm with Sull. (BTW - can someone photoshop this with Sull's picture)

I'm normally good for a round or two under 80 at EPP/Langston each year, but would love to do it at a more difficult course. My very best rounds at Blue Mash/Laurel Hill always tend to be right around 84/85. So a lot of work to do.

GTW: Good question. I generally think of myself as "goal oriented", but this one is tough for me. Generally, my goals are around, "play the best round you can today with what you have". I don't practice enough to have any confidence that I bring a consistent game to the course with me week in and week out.

I think we had a related question in the fall about our goals for the coming year. Mine was something like: more rounds below 80 than above 84. Probably sounds random, but in my mind a 79 feels like a good round and 85 leaves me pissed off.

Looking at last year, that ratio was be 3 to 11, heavily influenced by horrible start to the season (5 straight rounds above 85).

Par is the stretch goal, but I'd like to lower the personal best of 76. I think 74 isn't out of the question at Piedmont from the blue tees. If I hit it like I did yesterday morning it might happen this weekend.

Got my putter lie adjusted. Sits perfectly for me now. Headed to EPP tonight for some work exclusively on the green.

Also took my bent 4 iron into GCC and Jack asked why I bent it. I told him I tried to punch it out of the woods. He asked why? I said ask the CC2016MVP why he hit it in there in the first place (he knows ahoop).

Jack then said he's never played with a partner that he didn't sabotage. I said "not on purpose, right?" and he said "Yes, on purpose". Then I said "well, I guess you don't play with partners very much anymore" and he said "I play with partners all the time". Straight face. I changed the subject.

A sub 75 round in a tournament (or another situation with some pressure).

Hit 10+ fairways - The driver is holding my scoring back a bit right now. My iron game and short game have been holding rounds together lately. It would be great to go a whole round without having to punch out.

A round with 4+ birdies.

My little desk thermometer is reading 84° right now. INSIDE.

Surely I can parlay this into leaving early?

Id like to shoot a round at 9 over par or less this season. I think if I can shoot that then I'm consistently in the fairways and my approaches are relatively solid too. Maybe struggle with putting on a few holes or miss a chip or two.

Yesterday I played nine holes and I got paired with two guys who obviously didn't play much. You could see they weren't happy about playing with someone else. One hole I hit a provisional, but I found my first ball and forgot to get my provisional. Well, on the next hole I hit ny tee shot in the long par three a bit left so I hit a provisional there too. I get to the left side of hole around the tree line and I find three pro v1x number 2s (my two balls and his tee shot). The one jackass picked up my provisional from the last hole. I knew it was mine but I asked him, strange that you're playing the same ball that I just forgot to pick up from the last hole. He got quiet on that hole and on the tee box of the next hole. Finally after he tops the pro v1x into some wetland in front of the tee box and we roll up to my ball in the fairway the one guy who picked up my ball says "how about you go ahead and play through, we don't wanna hold you up." Well there was a group on the next tee and a group on the next green. It was weird as hell and it kinda just blew my mind that the guy would with a straight face just say "nope, I didn't find that". Craziness.

Anywho, I shot 9 over. I didn't practice putting before I teed off because I was rushed out there to catch this group as they made the turn (huge men's league shotgun start on the front). Made some pretty awesome bunker shots that surprised myself and my wife: one long bunker shot (90 yards) being one that I mentioned before as one that gave me issues and then a bunker shot out of a deep green side bunker to a green elevated well above my head. Both landed within 10 feet but I struggled with putting and think I three putted both. :(

My first driver swing was a straight pull that worked okay because the hole was downhill and bends left before going right. He second driver swing was a snap hook left that required a provisional but got saved by trees(he hole where the dude picked up my ball). After being like "wtf" I looked at my swing thoughts in the notes on my phone. Once I did that we were good to go.
