Calling an audible. Took the AP2s out of the bag. Going VFP today at Pebble. Pebble always makes me nervous because I want to play good. With my si joint inflamed I need all the help I can get finding the club face. D4 in the bag too. M1 is going on BST lol

The TW001. That's what kept me alive yesterday. I love the 006, just the TW001 is money. I will play the 006 tomorrow.

Thanks. Yes I love his stuff. Listen to 3 of his books on audible. Need to get back on that. The plan today is high intent with high acceptance. Be clear on my shot accept it and move on. :) better easy said then done though lol

I must admit that I really like the look of the VFP irons! It's not the black finish as much as it is the head shape. I'll definitely have to try these before I "lock" the bag for the season. I'll be interested to hear how they compare to the AP2's for you.

T-MBs definitely better looking. Those black Nike's look fugly, but I haven't hit them. I just wouldn't be able to look at those ... that is unless they started producing birdies.

Played today in windy conditions and I'm pretty impressed with the new ball. Only thing is off the driver I get these marks but only on a few of these balls not all of them. I thought it was from the irons but yesterday I had the AP2s and had the same marks. They don't effect anything or the cover, but other than that in 30-40 mph winds the ball holds up great.

Playing the Platinums. I hit the Proto into the beach somewhere on number 9 I think lol. Not sure what caused it. When you rub your finger over it the surface it feels like new and you can't feel anything different. Like the small micro dimples get smashed or something. Only happened on a few balls though. That was the only thing that I noticed.

As far as the marks, the cover isn't affected it's almost like a tattoo lol. You can't feel anything just visual and only on a few which I thought was odd.

Now that you asked that. Could have been from the M1! I was rotating it with the D4. Then took it out of the bag after I made my decision to stick with the D4. That could be it!

After a few rounds with the Nike Fly Pro irons I must say they have grown on me. They feel good enough and are very forgiving. The long irons are easier to hit than the TMB ( 4iron vs 4 iron) and I love the transition from 4-7 irons as the blend well. I don't mind the black color as it actually looks pretty damn sweet at address. They flight incredibly good trajectory wise and easy to flight low which is something I look for. That being said I think I would still want something closer to a smaller profile as I get down to the 8, 9 irons. One thing that I just found out is that they are designed because of the heads to play 1/2 longer than the VPC to keep the weight in the D2.5 range. When I ordered them I went 1/2 short to match the length of the PCs which through off the weights. These feel super light. Probably D0. I like a heavier iron. This was my fault in ordering them this way. I am going to have one more round each club and then choose one. At this point I think I am leaning towards keeping the AP2/TMB combo. I really don't have anything bad to say about the Nike's except I ordered them wrong and they are too light and vs the AP2 I prefer the 8,9 AP2 and 46* SM5 vs the 8-PW VFP.

 

With the M1 vs D4, they were pretty close in distance but I noticed my misses with the M1 (probably shaft related) were very spinny for me and high right. The D4 when I miss is a similar line of a miss but doesn't spin out on me at all. Just wasn't gaining anything by switching. Head for head the D4 was a tad longer give or take the conditions. Didn't like the M1 3 wood, I am sticking with my Nike Speed LTD JDM version.

 

I like the new stuff from Nike, but don't see myself switching my bag around anytime after this. I got a bet going with a buddy that the first one to buy new stuff after Feb 1st has to buy dinner. I am not losing lol. Plus I have some qualifiers coming up and need to settle in. On a side note, Go Panthers. 4 guys from OSU on that team. Slaughter...

Made a tweak in my takeaway this weekend and it seems to be paying off. I played yesterday with the Vapor Fly Pro irons in the bag and the 006. Finally broke 80 again! 73 from the tips at Silverado North in Napa where the tour stops.

 

 

 

Man I really like these irons! I would say if I could grab a set that was 2* weaker in loft and a little heavier it would be all I need to keep them in this season. I picked up 15 yards though in my short irons which is a bit too much. 8-PW is where I really notice a difference. 8 iron is a 150 club for me and these are going 165. I'm going to try and get back out today with the AP2 and see if it's the distance in clubs or the tweak in my swing that is causing the increases. I might end up doing something like Vapor Fly Pro 4-7 and PC 8-PW, 1* weak in the set. Unfortunately Nike doesn't go 2* weak on these which is a bummer.

 

Or might just keep rotating both sets for the hell of it :)

Very nice round with the VFP + 006. That's a really big increase in distance. As long as it's consistent then great. Did you specify swing weight when you custom ordered the VFP?

Yeah only 1* from the custom department. It was my fault. I talked with my buddy at the Oven and he said there is no way to get them to D4 with standard grips cutting them 1/2 short. So they are probably D0. I might re order another set and go standard length. Debating. Going to see if these are bendable. Completely my fault.
