Excited to see the new putter. Is it something not Nike?

How did you decide between the M1 460 vs. 430? After playing the SLDR 430, forgiveness has become a huge deciding factor for me as I look for my 2016 driver. Would love to hear your thoughts on how you went about evaluating the two.

 

The driver that I was most accurate with last year was the TW Vapor Speed at 420cc. I was really consistent with it. It is just that the D4 happened to be 10-13 yards longer every time. I am less accurate with the D4 though. So trying to find the right combo. I tried the R15 460 last year so I thought I would give the 430 a shot. Being that I didn't have trouble at all with the TW, I might be on to something with a smaller head. From one of the pros I know that plays the 430 head he found it was more stable towards impact vs the 460.

So today I went to a TPI center to walk through an evaluation on my limitations during the golf swing. I have been dealing with a tightness in my lower back (SI joint) and also in my front hip flexor. I am 36 years old now and I am starting to feel my age a bit. I am pretty healthy guy, I workout 4 times a week in the gym and just started back on tracking my meals to lose some weight here. I bulked up to 185 and being 5'10, I would like to get back down to 165-170 lbs. Anyways I was recommended to see the TPI instructor to see where I can improve. I was more curious on what might be causing me to be tight in the lower back and see where I can improve if needed in areas that lack flexibility ect.

 

The evaluation went better than I expected. It lasted about an hour and I went through various routines that measured my balance and flexibility. We also talked about what could be causing my back to flare up which sometimes gets in the way of my swing. I have to say it was a good way to see where I can improve as far as flexibility and balance is concerned but I wasn't really wowed by anything I didn't know. I know what issues I have, and it was more of okay I got to take care of these issues before they turn into something else or lead to swinging the club in a different way.

 

I would say if you are someone that doesn't have a general idea of your fitness needs then the TPI programs can work wonders. For someone like me that has a good knowledge of fitness, I think the evaluation is more valuable vs the routine they would give you. Once you know what you can improve on you can find your way around how to improve vs forking out a fortune for a program. If I had no knowledge of fitness I can TOTALLY see the value in TPI. Just depends on each individual and how much they know about fitness. A few things I need to work on after being evaluated:

 

Strengthening core. Not abs, the rest of the core.

Shoulder and back flexibility

Warming up prior to rounds (dynamic stretching)

 

Some of those things could be leading the the SI joint being overworked, especially the not warming up prior to playing golf.

The TW has Rory's mill pattern and grooves and is soft as anything I've ever tried. So more of the latter.

He is one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. Just a really great awesome person golf aside. Yes from the matter line. Might be stripped version in satin color. Not 100% sure yet. I'm leaving it up to him :)

Such a beautiful putter. One of my favorites.

 

So the verdict on the M1 HL 3 wood... Didn't feel like I'm gaining much more to make the switch. The Nike Vapor Speed LTD feels like the TW driver which was my favorite sounding driver probably ever. The M1 has more of a dead feel to it. It's long though. Even at 17* it's long. It is slightly easier to elevate than the Vapor and the adjustability factor is nice. But not sure it's replacing what I have just yet. I think my calling is the Vapor Fly Pro fairway because of the adjustability.

No T-MBs, going Nike on this one. Vapor Fly Pro 4-PW, DG x100. Had the PW 1* weak since the lofts are strong so there isn't too much gap between my 50* Engage. Told my fitter at the Oven I am trying to go ALL Nike this year as it's the brand I want to support and play. He's actually going with the Vapor Fly Pros this year too. Also went 1/2 short as they are 1/2 over the PC length. It will be between these two sets and then I'm done this year (that is the plan I swear) tinkering with irons. Just trying to find the ultimate set. Not that I don't like the AP2s, just might like the Vapor Fly Pro more. Seems to be a mixture of the T-MB and a more forgiving AP2. This was on me. I paid for these.

Nope and nope. I've been toying with the idea of the most game improvement set I could play comfortably and still hit the shots I want to. Ball striking isn't my strong point so I wanted all the help I could get. This seems like the set I've been asking for from Nike. I thought the PCs weren't as forgiving as the AP2s and the Speed was just too big. This seems right in line with a little more forgiving than the AP2, not as chunky as the AP1. The black is sick too. Straight impulse buy lol.

 

Still waiting to piece the M1 driver together. Waiting on a tip and ferule. I want to see data on the new drivers first. The D4 is stupid long for me. Last year the ball speeds weren't there with the Pro, the TW was better than the Flex. I am sure I will get around to the new drivers... Not in a rush though. Besides I'm running out of room for golf equipment. Lol

Clarification. Lol. Had a couple PMs. I purchased the Vapor Fly Pros from Discount Dans. I talk to my fitter from time to time at the Oven about golf in general, equipment ect. In no way can you purchase anything from the Oven. It isn't set up for retail. :)

This is actually my first Titleist driver in a while. Wish I had more info for it on you. Before this I had the TW Speed and was getting 172-174 mph ball speed, around 10* launch and 2200 spin. I had a WB 73x tipped an inch and put these head to head on the course. This one has a WB 63x untipped and I was on average 13 yards or so longer. A few even more. I haven't put this on Trackman yet but I plan on doing it once I get the M1 setup.

That's what me and my buddy were saying. My guess is that it's probably in the 2000 range for me? The best combo I've had in a long time with the driver. Would like to find something just as long with better dispersion. Just trying to find something as long first then I will get on Trackman and tinker a bit. :)
