The slowest/fastest players on LPGA ?

Recommended Posts

Having watched Kevin Na in the final group over the weekend makes me wonder who are the Kevin Nas of the LPGA.

I have only been to a few events, and the GC announcers are usually reluctant to call them out, so I can only try to connect the dots from what I see on TV.

The Kevin Nas:

1, Julieta Granada

Noone switches clubs and checks the wind more than she.

2, Azahara Munoz

I once followed her for a couple of holes, will not make that mistake again.

3,Brittany Lang (?)

Tom Abbott has repeatedly expressed his annoyance over her long putting routine.

4, Lydia Ko (?)

They say she is now taking quite some time on the green with her aim point stuff, even for short putts.

5, Sakura Yokomine

Jerry Folze actually called her out.

6, Morgan Pressel (?)

Based solely on the fact that she got penalized in the match play event. Or maybe she was just the victim of playing with Azahara that time...

The Rickie Fowlers:

1, Charley Hull

She has to take the cake for this one. The fastest trigger in women’s golf, to my knowledge.

2, Sei Young Kim

It also helps if you can hole out from fairway.

3, Stacy Lewis

Proves that you can be fast AND good.

4, Brooke Henderson

The biggest adjustment she may need on the LPGA maybe is to learn to play slow.

Maybe that's why I like them all so much.

However, I don't think Rickie is all that fast of a player. He certainly isn't Snedeker fast.

Beatriz Recari is brutally slow too, I believe
Yes, how could I have left out Beatriz.

I remember one time ( I believe was the British Open ) when her group was almost 2 holes behind. Dottie Pepper was the announcer and she sounded like she was ready to jump out of the booth and hit the shots for them.

Foltz was saying how even the players were commenting how deliberate Kerr was playing at the Manulife.
It was probably longer than 90 seconds. I timed her from the moment the camera cut to her until she took her shot. I assume she was at her ball well before the camera cutover.

At the previous tournament, she took 65+ seconds on one of the par 3's.

anyone in lpga can't be kevin na .. i hope so
have you watched what he is doing there?
he must check always where are his balls or are they still there .. before and after every movement .. in this case i don't mean golf balls
it takes a lot of time

Mrs Kerr is wonderful when selecting a club
60 yrds to the flag, at first all clubs out on the fairway .. driver - too long, putter - wrong color - 3w - too suitable, 3 iron - too heavy, sand wedge - not too expensive, nice design, fit my clothes .. yes i take this, how much .. she thinks she is shopping clothes

Playing as a single in the final round of a tournament
Karlin Beck recorded -2 in just over 2 hours. the commentator
used it as an example that a good round could be played in that time.

I followed Inbee Park last month, got to be one of the fastest I don't think I even saw her take a practice swing. Just took aim stepped up and hit

Slowest for me Christie Kerr, I couldn't stand it....
It's Cristie Kerr....I got the stink eye from her for spelling it wrong.

Inbee is amazingly fast. I teed off right behind her when she was here for a practice round (LCC USWO site), and after she left the 1st hole, I saw her again at where 6 tee and 4 tee meet up. Then I never saw her again.

Cristie managed to get around all 18 in 3 hours 35 minutes. That kinda shocked me knowing how slow she can be.

Also shockingly fast: Ko, Creamer, and Jennifer Johnson. JJ played a few holes with me and barely managed to keep pace.

good topic. in my opinion -

slowest

1. Cristie Kerr - there are never enough excuses under the sun for Ms. Grrr to step away

2. Beatriz Recari - the most split personality player I've ever seen on the LPGA

3. Sandra Gal - green play really puts her in this crowd

honorable mention - Catriona Matthew, Morgan Pressel, Julieta Granada

fastest

1. Charley Hull - self described style of hit the ball, go find it, hit it again, put it in the hole. repeat.

2. Inbee Park - complete confidence in her game enables this

3. Laura Davies - the only thing she does faster than play is practice

honorable mention - Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis, Natalie Gulbis

Ariya Jutanugarn is the fastest player out there. It's not an intelligent pace but it's a rapid pace. She may be the only tour player in history who hit so quickly during a playoff that the TV cameras missed the beginning of the shot. That happened early this year on a chip shot into a par 5.

From what I've seen in person the past few years, there are countless players on the brutally slow list who rarely make the TV coverage so it's not well known. Ariya's sister Moriya is one of them. It's remarkable how differently they approach the game, even as their builds look more and more alike as Moriya fills out.

Paula has become an incredibly slow player but it's more pronounced when she is in contention, which doesn't happen as often these days. Paula now takes forever debating club choice with Colin, particularly when it's windy.

Overall the women are unnecessarily slow and most of it is on the greens and on the short game. IMO, the pace of play issue is wildly overblown in terms of men's golf. If the PGA has 9 holes remaining in a normal event, they'll get to the wire in 2 hours or slightly less. On the LPGA it's more like 2:30 or above. For some reason the overseas events are even worse, especially at the end of the season in Asia. They apparently don't push the players to keep going. Maybe they are overly mindful of the spectators and don't want to hurry the afternoon. Those events can sometimes threaten 3 hours for the final 9 holes. It's not as bad early in the season in the Australian events.
