Anyone Still Gaming an Older/Ancient Driver

Just recently picked up an '07 Burner 9.5 TP with a V2 shaft in it. I cracked my original '07 Burner years ago and haven't been that happy with the new options since. I've been in heaven since finding this driver and am holding onto it for a long time! The sound, feel and accuracy of the '07 Burner for me is unlike any offering I've hit in a long time.

I just added a Ping G2 (10 degree, NV stiff) to my driver rotation. It's a cannon and was only $35. Good times.

Ive owned a couple before and would love to add another to what is now a bit of a 'driver collection'.

 

I have looked a little recently - but have not found a truly 'nice' one as yet. Ideally i'd come across a mint R580 TP. Now that would get the heart fluttering............

 

After a few 'divergences' my bag of big sticks include the old retail 510 (with its persimmon like click), an R7/425, R5-N, and the 580xd....my fairway sticks have all been TMs, from as far back as the copper-head Firesoles...that I STILL have....to the '08 Burners...

This past November I got 2 Spider Ghost putters, and a few 0S2 irons....needing only a 9i and PW to complete an all TM bag in a TM Monaco bag!

I'm very seriously going back to my i20, which would require purchasing a new head. It's so consistent and I mentally just love a bonded driver. I may have to grab a 9.5!

All my drivers fit comfortably into the 'ancient' classification. I have 3 510tps, 2 with the stock Speeder 757 and 1 with a tour spec SPD-671 TE. I've also got a Tour Burner tp (08 I think) with a Graphite Design AD DI 6 in it which I played for the last couple of years but has fallen out of favour recently. I've tried a lot of newer stuff but keep gravitating back to the older taylormade glued black tp heads.

Think I might put the GD ADDI in another 510tp head and see how that goes.

Besides my 2014 Big Bertha gamer all my drivers are ancient. Ft9, Wilson Smooth, 905R and 905T.

TM 540tp, rare head from the kingdom I got when I was in college in cali. I have a Krank V5, I like but I still love my old 540, WITH an x100 in it...medium high laser fades.

Right? I've had several different shafts in there and I swear each one is better than the last. Started out with a blueboard 63x (way too high), then went with a whiteboard 73s tipped 1" (great combo, but wanted a change), then a RIP alpha 70s tipped 1/2" (crushed this combo but hated the feel), a fubuki 63x (a little too high), a whiteboard 73x (too stiff), and now the Prolaunch Red S tipped 1".

I just put a brand new R7 TP ht Txxx Tour model with a Fuji Tour Platform 27.3 into play two weeks ago. Had no choice, as my only driver for the last 11 years finally bit the dust and cracked on the face. That driver was the the exact same R7 model as the new one I'm using now. It's resting comfortably in the corner of my golf room after so many years of faithful service. :-)

+1 on the 9015D. I just picked one up from Global Golf for $19 & I'm putting a devotion in it when spring will arrive in CNY. These things are very hard to find too.

I just bought an R15 but my go to is a 10.5 VR Tour with a Tour AD DI 7x. The R15 is going to have to be very very good to beat out the VR Tour.

I just bought an R15 but my go to is a 10.5 VR Tour with a Tour AD DI 7x. The R15 is going to have to be very very good to beat out the VR Tour.

 

I just bought the R15 too. I hope it feels as good as my SLDR or else it'll just end up in the stand bag that's in the corner with all the other Spare's. Taylormade is supposed to be dropping the M2 in February so I can probably hope on gaming the M1 maybe early next year when it hit's the 200$ mark.
