need some help identifying year on these. Pinned hosel. Hosel about a quarter inch longer than the '71s.

I just grabbed a set of those today. Strange thing...this is the GW closest to me, it's been good to me over the years...but they rarely (if ever) in the 15+ years I have been hunting there sell them as lots like this.

There were several "sets". I grabbed the only one that matched all the way through 2-PW (like your iron above).

Another strange thing...this guy who just wanders about in that store - seems to be in there every time I go in there and he's just wandering about usually by the golf clubs - he's always wearing a golf hat it seems of some sort (today it was an Adams hat) and doesn't seem to know much about clubs but just kind of wanders by them.

Well he was in there today and he comes up to me as I was trying to idneitify these irons - and he's like "yeah I know the guy that had all those...he died recently". I asked why some of the "sets" didn't match and he said that the guy would just "fill" a set with a similar-like iron if he didn't have the exact match.

So I only grabbed the one set. They do have nice Lamkin leather aftermarket as they were, but still really nice. I will post a pic of the set I grabbed later - they are soaking right now.

The set I got wasn't pictured here. All those sets were/are @$6.99 per wrapped up "set".

You should buy all those sets.

Def not complete though. As I said - each one of those bundles/sets have a 5 iron or a this or that iron that doesn't match the particular set it's bundled with.

I hear what you're saying though - there's still a lot of value there if I wanted to flip some/all of what's going on in there.

You guys can't see but there's Haig Wilson Staff irons (don't know if they're worth much or not but they looked cool to me) in there but I didn't look how close there were in there to a set. Also the Macs have some rarer looking wedges bundled in there. Maybe one or two.

My dad died just after Labor Day so really I am liquidating my stash, unfortunately. Had he not passed I might have jumped all over those bundles. Most of my clubs are in/enroute to storage that won't be sold off in his estate sale.

Found some Hogan Bounce Sole 1+ irons today. PW missing, 2-9 there for 99¢ each.

I ended up leaving them but was tempted. They had aluminum shafts.

Took my youngest son out today. I’m really scoring a lot of Putters lately. Found this Ping Zing that’s in good shape. Tried it out a bit and like how it feels. Much better than the Zing 5 I have.

I have one just like in manganese bronze, circa 1971. It's my favourite heel/toe weighted putter! I seem to get along better with less offset in my putters even though this particular model is designed for someone with a decidedly arced putting stroke.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Scrub that Ping putter head with BKF and watch the color pop!

Should end up looking like this:

That pic was taken two years ago. Today the club looks closer to the original pictured previously as the patina returns. Mine had quite a bit of corrosion on it so it needed cleaning. YMMV

Yup. BKF and lots of elbow grease!

I found my Zing in the cart barn of the course I was working at in a barrel full of clubs that were going for scrap. It was a damp environment so the putter's condition was a bit tough with surface corrosion, but that cleaned up quite well. I put a new Pingman grip on it and I was away to the races! :golfer:

50% off Sale at my local Goodwill Store. Found a Ping carry bag in very good condition with a Callaway 4+ warbird fairway wood, set of 2-PW Tommy Armour Silver Scott 986 tour irons, a vintage MacGregor Expediter SW and a wood mallet Ducks Unlimited putter. Took it to the register, guy said $10.00 and 50% off, $5.00 out the door. Irons are super clean with DG shafts and victory green half cords. I'm going to clean it all up and post pics.

Did some hunting with my oldest son today and found this sweet Hogan Special SI. It looks barely used.

Listed mine (exactly the same) on eBay like 4 times.

It's a sweet wedge. Mine looks like it's the exact same shape as yours.

NixLix-

Your question was answered a few years ago-

"Yes. The VIP iron models were my first assignment with MacGregor. That included the Split/Level soles." -Don White

So if these irons are 1971 MacGregor VIP Limited with Split Level soles, there is a very good chance Don White ground them.

Yes, this is a photo of Don White grinding someones iron in 2012.

Like I said I have the exact same one in great shape. Your Lasers are long gone enroute to you now so I can't stuff it in that box, unfortunately.
