was this a leaders meeting for "The Club"?? Trump tie in is approriate as well

definite tangible demonstration of The Club's prerequisite of Republican all-or-nothing political support. Unfortunately, it is not any deeper than most partisans. Perhaps Kerr would be aware of, and be able to debate about, some GOP "policies", but I wouldn't expect it from any others.

Golf in general is very much to the right. hey, even the GOAT, Jack Nicklaus himself endorses Trump.

My money's on Paula Reto. From South Africa, went to High School and College in the US.

Most South Africans speak Afrikaans and English. The UTP says she doesn't speak a second language.

Jodi is BFF of Korda, which naturally brings her in the crosshair of the "mean girls". It is Jodi.

Not entirely correct.

If Paula was Afrikaans (like Lee-Anne Pace), then yes she would speak both. I stand corrected, but I doubt she is Afrikaans from what I've seen / read / heard from her.

I think Paula is a good guess.

Good geography lesson. :)

Paula Reto appears to have a quiet and reserved demeanor. I am not sure she would fire such a salvo at the Americans.

Jodi has a more feisty attitude, at least on course.

Well I'm glad to see they at least have something going for them. I'm no Trump man by any means. I'm just glad they have enough sense to not swallow a bunch of liberal crap that gets shoved down our throats daily.

I don't think there is any question the utp is a hodge podge of assorted comments as has been posted already. Not one person at all.

In terms of the American Club, it seems to me that Jaye Marie Greene hangs with the members; also Brittany Lang is close with Lincicome.

In my limited observations Angela Stanford comes off as very standoffish. Hopefully Natalie Gulbis is really as nice as she appears.

I've played a course near where she lives several times over the last few years. Someone invariably brings up that N. Gulbis was out there recently. Then, they continue with how nice she is, how she is kind to everyone and how much the personnel enjoy her when she's playing or practicing. Several dozen people over a couple years - not one negative, or even neuytral comment.

Good on her.

Here in Europe we simply don't 'get' US politics.

We've had stable governments based on 'liberal crap' for around 1,000 years.

That's Oxford for you...... I was at the same college as Clinton in 1968, as it happens. Does a White House intern beat a dead pig?

No, just no :)

Just weighing in on the last couple days of posts

I do not think the UCP is a conglomeration of multiple player's comments. I do think it is one player.

Who is that player? I don't know and I really don't care. It could be Jodi Ewert-Shadoff. It could be Alena Sharp. It could be Paula Reto. Seems nobody lines up exactly with all the conditions.

Good to see indications here that Jaye Marie is not in the Club. Never thought she was, myself. Her and her dad on the bag rivaled Brittany and Luke Lang for most entertaining duo.

With all the political pontification, this thread is resembling the old TGC forum before it got shut down. Good times lol.

On that topic, I noticed yesterday that Lexi doesn't have his name in large letters like before. Now it says KING there, for the Cobra line. In small letters below it has Trump International Golf Club though.

I'd like for you to address which of the players of the LPGA or cliques party the hardest on the road.

I can't see this being Creamer/Pressel/Linicome/Lewis. Nor can I see the Koreans. I could Wie/Woods/Kang and even Lexi.

Married to Callaway Clubs but I cheat with Nike Clubs on occasion.

Hey Canadianglen, I've heard and read some stories about some of the LPGA ladies who like to find male companionship at each stop while they are on the road, but they don't always find what they want because many men will not approach them and ask them out. Perhaps the man are intimidated or these stories are not true? Can you shed some light? You may change the names to protect the guilty.

I can't see this being Creamer/Pressel/Linicome/Lewis. Nor can I see the Koreans. I could Wie/Woods/Kang and even Lexi.

Interesting question. The clique model isn't only "at work", it extends to most of tour life. In my experience, on the Wednesday night of event week, between players, caddies, parents, travel companions, press, media, tour staff, manufacturer, agent and sponsor reps, you are looking at 500 people or thereabouts. Not really a huge contingent to "invade" a city.

Tuesday night is the compulsory Pro-Am "red carpet" dinner. Many players can be heard in the right places complaining about having to travel with some formal or dress wear for this specific purpose. Paying extra for your clubs to fly the world is enough of a constant, never mind expanding your luggage. LPGA is pretty militant about attendance and dress code for the biggest fundraising evening of every event week. How long and how hard the party goes has a lot to do with the event sponsor. It's their money. The positives for this being the big night of the week include Wednesday being the last day without the pressure of competition per se. The negatives include all eyes in one place. Just like everyone else's staff parties around holidays, any extreme performances never really get forgotten. They evolve into legendary fish stories.

Exempted from this event are the true partiers on tour. The caddies. Most are in a lower grade of accomodation than players on tour. In, shall we say, more conducive areas of town for extra-curricular activities. Looping is not a job for everyone. Long hours, performance dependent pay, little freedom from your boss. If you ever get the opportunity to sit back with some experienced loopers and tip a few back, this is where you will hear some real dirt.

The tour also usually puts on a "social night" once during the week, usually for the younger crowd. Typically, they will basically rent out a popular club and it's a good opportunity for newer players to get to know one another outside of work. Yes, it does give cliques an opportunity to establish and expand. But it also allows the tour overseers to observe their future in a social setting. The last time the CWO was in the Calgary area (playing at Priddis Greens, just like this year) the social event was at a popular country & western nightclub, where the players learned line dancing. So, get 40 or 50 women under the age of 25, drinking and line dancing in a foreign city. It ended up being like an enclave being surrounded by security as the giggling and screaming rose while the local cowboys tried to gain access. Montreal was another city that offered a more challenging security issue for this event. Needless to say, the location and time of these events is not supposed to leave the locker room.

Truth is, there's just not much time for tourism and letting loose on tour. Many will band together and take in the local sights, but that's usually in a minibus with ample escort and supervision. Some have appearances to fulfill in every city. Some have hospital or hospice visits to make. Very, very few get a full day off on tour.

But, who are the party animals despite the discouragement through activities and/or commitments? Christina Kim. Read her book. Enough said. Laura Davies. Always sociable, always open to conversation. Dame Laura is intimidating to a certain degree, but she is a warm person, very unassuming. She won't stay up all night knocking them back (any more) but she has no problem enjoying a few with most anyone who wants to join in. A pint with her is a memorable experience. I can remember Tuesday of the 2010 CWO in Winnipeg when I wore a pair of Liverpool FC shorts to the course. That is Laura's team as well as mine. Somewhere on the back nine of her practice round, her caddy asked her if she wanted to play the course or just keep talking footy with this local bloke. Cristie Kerr, no surprise, will book the highest end restaurants in every tour stop and expect to receive flawless service with the best meal the place has ever served. One restaurant in Montreal, when Ms. Grrr told them she would not ever return, replied that she would not be allowed to reserve a table there ever again. They did not charge for the meal of her and her husband, preferring to get them out of the place as soon as possible. More than once, I have seen Cristie inside the ropes after her round, glass of red in hand, ignoring all fans, waiting for her friends to finish their round. Brittany Lincicome, the leader in black cloud over the head hangovers that I have seen. Even more than Christina Kim.

I have seen the Spanish Senoritas in rough shape the morning after, but rarely. Belen, Aza and Carlota seem to be a squad for incognito exploration on tour. And no, Beatriz is not generally a part of the squad as far as I know. A lot of the younger girls that grew up or went to college in California spend a fair amount of time together off course, and they are a colorful group. Tiffany Joh, Jane Park, Danielle Kang are among the most prominent in this circle.

Bottom line is, if you party too much, your game will suffer and it's a matter of time until you need a new job. No matter how much talent you have.

This is not really in my area of expertise, shall we say. There are always rumors and unconfirmed tales about sexual orientation, promiscuity, liasons inside the tour circle and failed relationships within. As with everything else, security has been increasing as the years go by. Hitting on a LPGA player is not exactly a straightforward task when they are at work. But it definitely happens. Speaking as a heterosexual male, there are certainly some impressive ladies out there. Most of the younger girls have at least one parent present at all times within view. If not a parent, then someone from their agency representing them. Brooke Henderson, Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, Kathleen Ekey (wow), Michelle Wie, Minjee Lee, Jessica Korda, Danielle Kang among this group.

The next step up in age are either married or mature enough to be able to deal with things. Sandra Gal, Belen Mozo (wow), Azahara Munoz, So Yeon Ryu, Brittany Lang, Gerina Piller among them.

As far as the question goes, who are the players who may be looking for some temporary companionship, I'm just not the person to know this. For all of the younger set, I am their father's age so I'm out of the picture. That being said, the surest way to access a young player for a chat or interview is through their parents. If mom or dad thinks you are okay, you're okay. I actually spend far more time talking to Scott Thompson than Lexi. Same with Charley Hull's dad. A lot of Canadian player's parents recognize me every year and are happy to say hi and will haul their daughters over and say "you remember Glen?" with that look a parent gives when their kids are supposed to be respectful to someone their parents know.

I can understand young players who are alternates hoping that someone will withdraw so they will gain a spot in the field. But once all play has begun, any subsequent withdrawals should be of no concern to those former alternates. They failed to make the field. Move on and do better next time.

No one tees it up with the intention of having to withdraw. No one who has earned a spot has any obligation to the alternates. Nothing is gained by sitting around thinking that if someone is going to withdraw, they should have done it sooner. It is just another way of being bitter towards someone who has something you want but don't have. Very revealing to express those feelings on social media.
