Oh yes Legends is still out there. Yes, it is a links style courses but a true links course runs right beside the ocean. Now days it is crowded because they own rental condos in like a little village there and they have a couple of restaurants and a couple of pubs too. If someone was coming for a golf vacation only like a buddies trip I would recommend it. They also have a great locals membership program which is a little high priced but nevertheless a good deal. Only drawback now is 5 and 6 hour rounds are the norm anytime of the year because it stays crowded with tourists and locals.

Also on 501 you have MB National with 3 courses, Wild Wing I believe with 2 courses now, Arrowhead and River Oaks. I think River Oaks is fixing to close down for more houses. I had forgotten just off of 501 in Carolina Forest you have Wizard, Man O War and World Tour.

Waccamaw Pottery itself has long closed down and the only thing I can remember now in that place is a store called Celebrations which is a Goth and Halloween themed store. I have not been that far up in that area for darn near 5 years now

We had some epic Ryder Cup-style trips at Legends in the 1999-2005 era somewhere in there. Really big and good group, was a great time, but could not keep the scheduling and organization going as time passed. Glad it’s still there — that self-contained concept was tremendous for what we were doing.

Man O War I think I remember being good too. But for me it was True Blue and Caledonia, then everything else in MB. 🙂

Man O War and Wizard which is beside of it owned by the same guy are great courses. Always superb greens. I like True Blue too. Caledonia is also a great layout but too pricey IMHO. Most locals feel the same way I do about Caledonia

Okra! My father had particular taste with vegetables, only liked tomatoes, green peppers, and okra lol

My mother had a very nice garden and got tons of tomatoes and peppers 🫑 but okra doesn’t grow well in ny so had to buy it. She’d like stew it with some tomatoes and it was dope with a loaf of Italian bread. Oh and she’d stuff the peppers with rice and ground beef and bake them, awesome.

As far as real estate and debt, there’s a concerning trend with “underwater” mortgages/homes on the rise. House is a dwelling not a piggy bank unless the equity is significant.

Incredible farm you’ve got, blade! 🍻 can’t wait to see the sunflowers!

Thank.  Totally agree. The ATM syndrome drives a lot of this debt , tax revenue cycle.  It’s bad for all in my opinion.

I can see why okra has trouble up north.  The growing season isn’t long enough . The heat that is. It loves heat. Hotter the better. I believe it’s an African plant originally.  It’s funny. It’s Almost never bothered by animals. So the yield is always great compared to other things that deer love. ( corn , beans etc). I also pickle it.  Along with beets. We have an acre of beets planted. Not up yet.  Beets are the most heart healthy food you can eat ( read up on them ).  And I happen to love them. Lowers blood pressure almost equal to a high dose medication . If eaten daily.

anyway. We shall see what happens.  Year two of experimentation. Finding the best crops to work part time isn’t as easy as it sounds. All kind of things to consider.  But I have a feeling that the flowers ,watermelons , cantaloupes ,pumpkins , beets, and peas are a staple combo that will continue.  Most are hands off once you get them up and going.

Going out solo and getting grouped with strangers pretty much all the time, I see A LOT of swings ... and when I see folks struggle with driver; it's usually when they're treating it as a "different" swing. Ball way too far forward, staying on the trail side and swinging up like they're tryna to hit a homer to center field with too-quick tempo.

100%. This was so much of my downfall before the recent equipment and approach changes. Hoping it's in the rearview mirror now.

I've said before I believe my driver game is the strongest part of my overall game. So here're some thoughts.

Though, these are most often chops. Which you're definitely not! But doesn't mean there're aren't some fundamentals to check out. Ball position is a big one. Club face alignment as well. See a lot of folks get too deep into knee bend trying to feel powerful.

I've always played a baby fade off the tee. I feel like an old reliable shot shape just makes it easier to keep it in the fairway cuz you can set up for it. If I don't WANT it to go left to right, I'll just close the face a touch which winds up being more of a straight ball than a draw which I'm a little scared to try usually - hit way too many snap hooks in my life! 😂 (Funny enough, my natural iron shape is a draw - I think it's more a matter of ball position. I play the ball more in the middle of my stance than most)

As far as equipment goes; I do strongly believe in the proper shaft and loft fit. Which may not always be obvious! I'd have never expected to be fit into 8° and the DJ Series shaft ... but here we are.

Thanks for this. Agreed. Before I got hurt I was long but wild. I never got comfortable with embracing the small to moderate fade which was my natural shape. I fought for and wanted that draw, and was always prone to a high sweeping hook that started a little bit left and turned HARD LEFT and just kept going forever.

Just a horrible shot to uncork when looking at a downhill par 5 I knew I could reach after a good drive. 😡 Hitting 3 from the tee more often than not and you know that next one is gonna be a block.

What a difference today. I love hitting D, favorite shot in the bag. Every lie is perfect, no uneven stances that give my lower body repairs problems, and I’m no longer prone to the huge “WTF?” foul ball out of nowhere. I am not long any more but man do I love hitting driver! You are so right that getting fit really matters. I’d be guessing if I hadn’t gone out to Ping for the full treatment.

What I see more often than anything with D is ball too forward and/or too much knee bend and not enough bend from the waist.

Yep. I’m going to get some video reference tonight and get some setup position / alignment cues verified. Definitely verify the basics.

what I’m fighting is solid contact at full speed.  I can find fairways.  No problem.  But it’s with bunt cuts that are shorter than 3 wood. I need to verify what fast is. Meaning , sometimes getting into a feeling of max effort is actually slower.  Right now it’s a slump for sure. I’m going to add some headweight and do some looking once it gets below 90 degrees here this evening.  Maybe I can find a groove.

This day in time you get some looks at like Home Depot or Lowes when you pay cash. They are always wanting you to get a credit card or such. I decline and tell them I am like my Grandfather do everything in cash. If we can not afford it we do not get it period.

One local Chinese joint I go to is cash only. Several Japanese places I go to discount 4% if you pay in cash.  But go to the stadiums here and it’s credit only.  I bet the transaction fee is baked into the high costs.

I also heard employees can get in trouble if not enough people sign up for the store credit cards.  The big corps want to get you into debt and accrue late fees and pay more for their products that way.

hard questions. without seeing anything, can only make some general comments.

instead of trying to hit a shape, it’s good to know your baseline.

alignment stick for target and perpendicular one at ball position. hit 5-10 shots without thinking of a shape, just solid impact with full swing. is there a bias? that non-thinker is your baseline.

in many cases, aoa and tee height are impact killers.

elite players are 0 to -1.5 down and tee height is lower.

i wouldn’t think about swing, i’d think about setup.

Yep. I’m for sure a fader with driver.  As far as a non thinker shot.  I  don’t have trackman at home. But I’m historically -1 ish when measured. I go more down on bad swings.  Now. If I tee up and turn to hit a high draw I can see +2 ish.   Tee height is ball top even with top of crown.

I got held up this evening and never hit balls. But I’ll be up early because the kid has to catch a bus to bball camp.  I’ll start the day with a bucket and see what setup is like.

i suspect my tee height has crept up.  And my ball position is too far forward . I tend to do this trying to get some height  on  the ball. I can cover it and hit it lower than anyone if I want to. Up with driver is harder for me. For some reason.  But my normal shot is a flighted bullet.

typo? you mean bottom of ball? equator of ball at crown is bottom of range of tee height, unless flighting a bullet.

covering driver is unusual. 3-5° tilt is usual tour range.

bullet doesn’t give you options to fly bunkers. you’re at the mercy of contour during runout.

is higher flight something you want, or can learn to want?

video would sure help. can message it if you want.

When I hit middle best it’s ball teed below crown of driver. Or top  of ball to top of driver.  I will tee it up. And somedays I’ll hit it higher and time it up.  But for the most part that’s the exception not the rule.     For another example. I tee 3 wood just off the grass. Basically just building a perfect lie with a tee. And I can get 1.49 smash all day … with a tiny divot after the tee , which is basically just a buzz cut of the grass.

You hear “ don’t make lt a different swing “. If I don’t that’s where the tee height is. I’m going to return the club  to where it starts at address.  I can tee it up and hover it. But that’s basically same same.  I can hover an iron with ball teed  5 inches in the air and hit it clean. As far as  that goes. 🤣.  What I have  trouble with is teeing it somewhere up , and starting from an address position and hitting it up , without tilting something out of whack.  Or moving path etc.

I’ll see if I can get some video tomorrow. .  I’m not ashamed to post it, just harder to do than you think.  I’ll get every angle on earth except the ones needed 🤣

First time preparing A5 Ribeye Cut Wagyu Steak.  I think it's from Miyazaki, Japan.  Got a deal on it for about $55/lb at the Japanese Market here, normally it was $68.  This was 1 pound, 1 inch thick.  Prepped with only Kosher salt and used a small cut its own fat instead of butter or oil.  Was delicious.  I bought some yakiniku sauce with it for occasional dipping for $5.  The fancy restaurant at one local hotel/casino charges $45 per ounce.  So this would cost $778 there if you include taxes.  Tack on a 20% tip on the subtotal and it's up to $922

Btw, when did 15% tip turn into 20%?

Yep that is how I hit my infamous "Stuey Stinger" as the guys call it. I tee it down. My late partner Big John used to say I teed it traditionally as in the height with a persimmon driver. On high shots like Solly says I tee it high and position my red line on the ball as to line up below the equator. My natural shot is a cut by design. I prefer the stinger but on some holes I do the high cut thing to minimize the run out.

My neighbor across the street runs a bait and tackle store. He quit taking credit cards years ago. Now he is very smart. He had a cash machine installed outside his shop. He charges rent for space on the machine and gets a cut on every transaction. He has signs posted saying "Cash Only" and will direct tourons to the machine outside. He does not have to mess with the machine at all. The guy with the company comes by and fills it up with cash and maintains it. LOL I was in there one day and this obnoxious tourist told him by law he had to take credit cards. He told they guy this was Garden City Horry County SC and there was no such law here and the cash machine was outside if he did not like it to go back where he came from.

Yeah I know these big corporate companies push credit card sales with their cards. Home Depot one time I made a small purchase and they asked if I wanted a home Depot card? I told her no way. Then she wanted my E Mail I told her no way. I kinda got POed by then and asked her if I needed a e-mail and HD card to buy stuff? If so I would go elsewhere. I do not give out my phone number and E-Mail to strangers. On my discount cards like Kroger etc I use an old phone number that I have not had for 20 years. That stops spam and scam calls and scams off the e mail
