Kinda the challenge though, right? We can surely plan for the obvious but people are weird and unpredictable. Especially when dealing with direct, physical input.

i've had my share of it. light skin, blue eyes, too much time outdoors with no protection.

 

skin cancer is the #1 cancer in the usa.

the usa is second in the world per capita.

australia and new zealand are first.

 

why australia? well, several reasons.

1. linage of immigrants with light skin and blue eyes.

2. low population density means less pollution, clear air, higher uv.

3. less pollution overall in southern hemisphere, higher uv.

4. tilt of earth means southern hemisphere is 3% closer to sun, adding more uv.

 

uv is the culprit. uva and uvb. uvb is most damaging, but uva is far more prevalent, so compounding so much uva adds risk.

 

the usa is far behind the world in sunscreen "technology."

europe, asia, australia have sunscreen that covers better, lasts longer, blocks uva and uvb. and women can use it under makeup.

usa suncreens only protect against uvb. no protection against uva.

the whole usa spf rating is nonsense.

 

sunscreens are considered cosmetics in other countries. the usa fda considers them over the counter drugs.

the fda has not approved advanced sunscreen ingredients, or any new ingredients for them, for over 20 years.

it's like the usa is using push button land line phones and the world is using iphones.

 

i don't know who is benefiting. perhaps it's to keep new competitors out due to decade long expensive clinical trials required by the fda. who knows.

Old owner told the new owner who to take it to.  So here it is. All the way back from Connecticut.  With an engine noise.  Tore it half way down today and made the decision that it needs overhauling.

Well at least they wore it out driving it. I cannot stand garage Queens or Trailer Queens. Now I can somewhat see it with a super rare car worth millions. I was like that when I rode motorcycles. I rode mine. The last Maggie Valley rally we went to I RODE my 1976 Harley Shovelhead. One of the guys at the Concrete company I worked out had a brand new Road King top of the line all the bells and whistles. He came by us going up Saluda mountain TOWING the damn thing on a trailer. I laughed. We have a saying here at the Beach on the bike rallies. We call it trailer week. I also used to say if you saw my bike on a trailer call 911.

My motorcycle trailer was a small camper that went on the touring bike's hitch.  For the life of me, I cannot understand putting a functioning vehicle on a trailer and towing it somewhere to go play.  The Woodward Dream Cruise is exactly the same as Sturgis, Daytona and many other trailer rallies.

Yes, but classic car enjoyment is equivalent of a show pony. 
 

A guy spending 150k on a car that originally cost 3k and driving it once a month down Main Street at 25MPH to the Dairy Queen so people can give him the 👍

I’d be all about a rowdy big block if it were mine.   But he’s going to settle for a rowdy Cleveland … just got finished the conversation about what parts to use and how much power is expected .  Getting 400 hp out of one these days just requires a credit card. Nothing more. So that’s the target.  Will be simple enough.

LOL I scattered a 10 bolt one time leaving Mickey Dees in my 427 66 Chevelle SS. Bought a 12 bolt Posi unit from a junkyard out of a wrecked 70 SS 396. Exploded it 2 weeks later lighting it up coming out of the What A Burger in Concord NC. Remember I was young then and did not know Zilch. One of the good customers at the Golf Course was a NASCAR driver. He enlightened me on the Ford 9 inch rear ends. He hooked me up with a guy and I bought one. He also gave me a set of springs so the rear would not load so violently. I was going to have to change Mags because the bolt patterns were different. He hooked me up with 2 NASCAR rims like they ran at the time. Told me with that much HP and torque on the ground I needed steel wheels for safety sake, Also with the beefier rear end I had to change driveshafts and had they guy who built his NASCAR drive shafts do one for me. Never had any more drive line problems

My grandpa was a car guy. Owned lots of really cool stuff my mom grew up around. Tri 5, ‘57 fuelie, a sweet Continental, and a ‘79 Town Car that I could not get enough of as a kid.
 

My mom inherited the love of cars when he bought her a ‘71 Cougar, 351C, baby blue paint on navy blue interior as a grad school graduation present. I am a 1976 model myself and I have faint memories of that car….sad to say by 1979/80 it was rusty to the point she couldn’t keep it any longer. 🙁
